Barnegat Basketball had to relocate our storage unit from the Barnegat Youth Sports Complex to the Lower Shore Road Sports Complex.  MIDNIGHT TOWING was kind enough to move the storage unit free of charge as a donation to our league. We owe them a debt of gratitude.

By registering a player you understand it is league policy that if any family member of a player causes a disturbance at any BBC game or practice an automatic one game suspension for the player applies and the board will determine if expulsion from the program will apply to the player and/or family member.  This policy is in addition to the spectator sanctions which includes completion of an anger management program before the spectator can apply for reinstatement.  No refunds will be given for an explusion. If the disturbance is at the final game of the season the player and spectator sanctions apply next season.  By registering your child you understand this policy and the sanctions that apply.  Should you have any questions or concerns contact BBC before you register your child.

**New division realignment for 2026-2027. 

All grade 2 players will play in a grade 2 division on 8' baskets.  This division will have a greater emphasis on instruction.  

All grade 3 and grade 4 will play in a new combined division on 9' baskets. 2025-2026 grade 4 rules apply.

Cape Atlantic Travel League---

   American Division Varsity Grades 7/8 team 11-2   Cape Atlantic league Champions. Barnegat defeated Galloway 57-43

   American Division Junior Varsity Grades 5/6 team 11-3   Advanced to the league semi finals, lost to Atlantic City PAL.  Atlantic City PAL won       the  Cape Atlantic league American Divison Championship.

The Barnegat Basketball Club has a zero tolerance policy including- only the head coach may speak to the referees.  Unacceptable behavior includes arguing decisions, using obscene or vulgar language to anyone during games and practices.  Visually displaying behavior in a  manner that challenges or embarrasses the officials or challenges their judgement.  Warnings are not required and technical fouls will be assessed as determined by the officials.  Any disqualification will result in a one game suspension and a board determination if further action is required.  

Officials will stop the game when parents/spectators display inappropriate and disruptive behavior.  Officials will identify violators and they will be removed from the venue.  Inappropriate/disruptive behavior includes but is not limited to- obscene or vulgar language, taunting players, coaches and referees, threatening physical violence or physical violence.  Any removal will result in a board determination if further action is required.

BBC PLAYING TIME RULES

EACH PLAYER WILL PLAY A MINIMUM OF 3 MINUTES IN EACH OF THE FIRST THREE PERIODS.  FOR PERIODS 1,2 AND 3 THE PLAYING TIME CHART WILL GOVERN WHO IS ON THE COURT AND WHO IS ON THE BENCH. 

FREE SUBSTITUTION APPLIES IN THE FOURTH PERIOD. 

NO PLAYER WILL PLAY LESS THAN THE MINIMUM OR MORE THAN THE MAXIMUM EXCEPT FOR INJURY, EJECTION OR FOULING OUT.  ANY SUBSTITUTION IS LOWER RANKED PLAYER AVAILABLE.  IF NO LOWER RANKED PLAYER THEN SUBSTITUTE IS LOWEST HIGHER RANKED PLAYER AVAILABLE.

OVERTIME IS FREE SUBSTITUTION. 

Rules-  Coaches are responsible for volunteers to do the scorebook and the score clock.  Coaches are responsible for the competence of the volunteers.  Coaches can request the board arrange a teaching session at practice prior to the season.

All divisions 5 team fouls in a period results in 2 free throws.  The foul count resets for each period.  Players foul out at 5 personal fouls.

Division 5.  Grade 2

Half court defense applies, no press unless the rebounder does not hold the ball, any attempt to  pass or fast break can be defensed at any time.  10 point lead, defense drops back to inside the 3 point arch and remains in the arch unless the lead drops below 10 points.

                      No lane violations apply. No 3 point field goal, all attempts 2 points.

                      Free throw line in three feet.  

                      2 time outs per half. Time outs do not carry over.

                      6 minute scholastic clock; 28.5" intermediate size ball. 8’ basket

                   

Division 4.  Grades 3/4

                      1/2 court defense only; unless rebounder does not hold the ball, any attempt at a pass or fast break can be defensed. Press last 2 minutes of game if lead                           is under 10 points.

                      Free throw line in two feet.  No 3 point field goal, all attempts 2 points.

                      2 time outs per half.  Time outs do not carry over.

                      6 minute scholastic clock; 28.5" intermediate size ball. 9’ basket.

                      

      Division 2.  Grades 5/6

                      All court defense; unless 10 point lead then no press. ½ court defense only.

          3 point field goal awarded

                      6 minute scholastic clock.

                      2 time outs per half. Time outs do not carry over. Regulation size ball. 10’ basket

 

Division 1.  Grades 7/8

                      All court defense; unless 10 point lead then no press. ½ court defense only.                                   

                      6 minute scholastic clock. 

                      2 time outs per half.  Time outs do not carry over.  Regulation size ball. 10’ basket

Except for the Barnegat Basketball Club league specific rules the NJSIAA basketball rules apply to all divisions.

Behavior Sanctions

 Any league or travel player involved in vandalism at any school at any time will be expelled from BBC basketball for the season.

If vandalism occurs and is traced to BBC, but not a particular player, the team will have practice suspended for the remainder of the season.

No league or travel player serving suspension/expulsion will be eligible for league all star competition and travel participation.
