Travel team tryouts are at the Donahue School Gym over 3 Fridays. Players trying out must attend at least one session.

October 10,17 & 24.  Grades 5/6 is 6 to 730pm and grades 7/8 is 730 to 9pm.

BBC league evaluations are as follows-

Monday October 20 Grades 2/3 at the Donahue School Gym starting at 6pm.

Tuesday October 21 Grade 4  at the Donahue School Gym starting at 6pm.

Wednesday October 22 grades 5/6 at the Donahue School Gym starting at 6pm.

Thursday October 23 grades 7/8 at the Donahue School Gym starting at 6pm.

BBC is a winter sports league.  Evaluations and the team draft is in late October.  Practices begin after teams are formed, generally in early November.  Practices are one night each week through March 6, 2026.  Games are on Saturdays Begining December 6, 2025 through March 7, 2026.

The Barnegat Basketball Club has a zero tolerance policy including- only the head coach may speak to the referees.  Unacceptable behavior includes arguing decisions, using obscene or vulgar language to anyone during games and practices.  Visually displaying behavior in a  manner that challenges or embarrasses the officials or challenges their judgement.  Warnings are not required and technical fouls will be assessed as determined by the officials.  Any disqualification will result in a one game suspension and a board determination if further action is required.  

Officials will stop the game when parents/spectators display inappropriate and disruptive behavior.  Officials will identify violators and they will be removed from the venue.  Inappropriate/disruptive behavior includes but is not limited to- obscene or vulgar language, taunting players, coaches and referees, threatening physical violence or physical violence.  Any removal will result in a board determination if further action is required.

NO PLAYER WILL PLAY LESS THAN THE MINIMUM OR MORE THAN THE MAXIMUM EXCEPT FOR INJURY, EJECTION OR FOULING OUT.  ANY SUBSTITUTION IS LOWER RANKED PLAYER AVAILABLE.  IF NO LOWER RANKED PLAYER THEN SUBSTITUTE IS LOWEST HIGHER RANKED PLAYER AVAILABLE.

OVERTIME IS FREE SUBSTITUTION.

Rules-

All divisions 5 team fouls in a period results in 2 free throws.  The foul count resets for each period.

Division 5.  Grades 2/3

The first three (3) games defense inside 3 point arch except 4^th period when players may leave the 3 point arch when the ball advances past mid court.  Game four (4) on  defense inside the 3 point arch, players may leave the 3 point arch when the ball advances past mid court; unless the rebounder does not hold the ball, any attempt to  pass or fast break can be defensed at any time.  10 point lead, defense drops back to inside the 3 point arch and remains in the arch unless the lead drops below 10 points.

                      No lane violations apply. No 3 point field goal, all attempts 2 points.

                      Free throw line in three feet.  

                      3 time outs per game.

                      6 minute scholastic clock; 28.5" intermediate size ball. 8’ basket

                   

Division 4.  Grade 4

                      1/2 court defense only; unless rebounder does not hold the ball, any attempt at a pass or fast break can be defensed. Press last 2 minutes of game if lead                           is under 10 points.

                      Free throw line in two feet.  No 3 point field goal, all attempts 2 points.

                      3 time outs per game.

                      6 minute scholastic clock; 28.5" intermediate size ball. 10’ basket.

                      

      Division 2.  Grades 5/6

                      All court defense; unless 10 point lead then no press. ½ court defense only.

Behavior Sanctions

 Any league or travel player involved in vandalism at any school at any time will be expelled from BBC basketball for the season.

If vandalism occurs and is traced to BBC, but not a particular player, the team will have practice suspended for the remainder of the season.

No league or travel player serving suspension/expulsion will be eligible for league all star competition and travel participation.
