Congratulations Alexis Simpson and Katie Janaway for winning PWSA Top Player Awards

Congratulations to Alexis Simpson and Katie Janaway for winning PWSA Top Player awards at the 2018 Provincial Championships in August.
Alexis powered the Bantam team to a perfect 7-0 record and the Gold Medal in Strafford August 10-12th.
Katie led the Squirt team to a 6-1 record and a Silver Medal in Windsor August 17-19th. 
Both girls received their awards at the annual PWSA Awards banquet in October.

We are so pleased at the turnout for the 2018 AGM with close to 30 members in attendance.  We appreciate everyone who took the time out of their busy schedules to participate in some very important decisions for our league for the upcoming season.  Anyone wishing to help out in any role within our league, please do not hesitate to reach out the appropriate contact below to inquire about volunteer opportunities. Our league continues to grow and improve thanks to the dedication of our volunteers.

Winter Development Clinics - Registration Now Open

**Note - subject to change based on registration numbers**
Registration for winter clinics opened at 9am on Saturday, October 13, 2018. Clinics will run November to April and will be filled on a first come, first serve basis.  Please note clinic lengths during registration as some clinics run differently. There are limited spaces available.  Register early to avoid disappointment.  These clinics fill up quickly.
Please note: Gyms are closed on holidays, March Break, Christmas Holidays, and on PA Days.   Due to school functions, there may be additional days throughout the winter where the gyms will be unavailable.
Beginner Pitching Clinics - November 4, 2018 to May 1, 2019 - $100
The Monday beginner mechanics pitching clinics (Wayne Kennedy) will start on November 5, 2018 at Assiskinack Elementary School, 7-9pm.  This clinic is for the young players wanting to learn the basic mechanics of pitching and who have not already taken a clinic. Time slots will hold a maximum of 10 pitchers and will be filled on a first come, first serve basis.  Each pitcher will be responsible for bringing their own catcher. full
The Wednesday beginner mechanics pitching clinics (Wayne Kennedy) will start on November 8, 2018 at WC Little Elementary School, 7-9pm.  This clinic is for the young players wanting to learn the basic mechanics of pitching and who have not already taken a clinic. Time slots will hold a maximum of 10 pitchers and will be filled on a first come, first serve basis.  Each pitcher will be responsible for bringing their own catcher. 4 spots left 
Advanced Pitching Clinics - November 2, 2018 to April 28, 2019 - $100 - spot left 
The Sunday advanced pitching clinics (David Mahaffey) will start on Sunday, November 4 at Innisdale Secondary School, 11am-12pm (1 time slot only).  Participants must have taken Wayne's clinic and pitched at least 1 year in houseleague, select and/or rep.  The clinic will hold a maximum of 14 pitchers and will be filled on a first come, first serve basis. Each pitcher will be responsible for bringing their own catcher.  Dave is the current coach of the novice rep team and has coached in our league for many years!
Beginner Catching Clinics - 6 Week Sessions (Two Sessions) - November 5, 2018 to December 10, 2018 & January 14, 2019 to February 25, 2019 (Excluding February 18, 2019) - $50 per session - session 1 - full, session 2 - full
The Monday beginner catching clinics (Breanne Beardsdall) will start on Monday, November 5 at Assikinack Elementary School, 6-7pm.  This clinic is for players who would like to learn the fundamentals of the catching position from houseleague to select.  This clinic will hold a maximum of 6 catchers and will be filled on a first come, first serve basis. Breanne played for the Barrie Storm for 7 years. Breanne will be supported by Wayne Kennedy.
Advanced Catching Clinics - 6 Week Sessions (Three Sessions) - November 2, 2018 to December 14, 2018 (Excluding November 23, 2018) , January 11, 2019 to February 22, 2019 (Excluding January 25, 2019) & March 22, 2019 to April 26, 2019 (Excluding April 19, 2019) - $75 per session - 2 spots left for later time slot - session 1
The Friday advanced catching clinics (Andrew White) will start on Friday, November 2, 2018 at Algonquin Ridge Elementary School, 6:30-7:30pm and 7:45-8:45pm (two time slots).  These clinics will be open to players who have played at least two years and whose main/desired position is catcher.  It is open to houseleague, select and rep players.  Time slots will hold a maximum of 6 catchers and will be filled on a first come, first serve basis. Andrew is currently the pitching coordinator/assistant coach for the U17/U18 Ontario Athletics Club and played several years in the Greater Toronto Baseball League.
Winter Skill Development Clinics - November 2, 2018 to April 26, 2019 - $100
The Skill Development Clinics will start on Friday, November 2, 2018 or Wednesday November 7, 2018. These clinics are open to all BDGSA members.  These clinics are designed to work on proper skill mechanics, including throwing, fielding, hitting, etc.  Time slots will hold a maximum of 12 players and will be filled on a first come, first serve basis.
U10 Mite Skills Development Clinic - Coach: Jenny Rae and Dean Wells, Fridays, Allandale Heights Elementary School, 6:30-8:00pm - full
U12 Squirt Skills Development Clinic - Coach: Mark Murphy, WednesdaysHolly Meadows Elementary School, 7:00-8:30pm - 1 spot left

Fair Play in BDGSA...Fun For Everyone!

The goal of the BDGSA Softball Programs is to ensure all players have a rewarding, memorable, safe and fun experience while participating in our programs. Providing a safe environment is a collaborative process. We ask that parents/guardians/coaches/spectators adhere to the guidelines below and we ask that you also share the following league guidelines with your child/ren:

Respect others and their property

Hands off

No bullying behavior by players, coaches or parents

Listen to the coaches/team managers

Stay with the team while at the ball park

Use appropriate language at all times (this applies to everyone)


If the above guidelines cannot be met, the BDSGA Executive will follow up to address concerns. Parent, coach, and/or player conferences may be required to address concerns at any time during the season.

** Physical or emotional aggression towards another person or oneself (by anyone) may result in a temporary or full suspension from the league. **

The Barrie Storm Novice Red team was in Brampton over the weekend.  After finishing first in their pool and with a thrilling come from behind victory in the semi’s, and a fantastic showing in the finals, these young ladies brought the GOLD MEDAL back to Barrie.  Great job ladies!!!

BDGSA Apparel On Sale Now at Centretown!

New Barrie Storm apparel is now available at Centretown Sports (in time for the parade and the holidays)!  Centretown will attempt to keep stock of all items, but visit the store to purchase, or order, by December 10 to avoid disappointment if purchasing/ordering for Holiday gifts.  The apparel will be available throughout the year as well.
