Baseball Parks of America-Perfect Game -Navy 2016

Brad Brach-Former Parks player named to MLB ALLSTAR !!

July 12, 2016

Brad Brach is a Major League Baseball All-Star.

Brach, a right-handed relief pitcher for the American League East Division-leading Baltimore Orioles and a former Freehold Township High School, Baseball Parks of America ( Bob Parks- Coach) and Monmouth University star, was named to the American League All-Star Team Tuesday night.

It will be the first appearance in the MLB All-Star Game for the 30-year-old Brach, who is a setup man for Orioles' closer and fellow All-Star Zach Brittion. Brach was one of five Orioles selected for the game. The All-Star Game will be played Tuesday at Petco Park, San Diego.

"It's awesome," Brach told the Baltimore Sun Tuesday night at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles before the Orioles' 4-1 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers. "It kind of shows the evolution of the way the game is right now. It's not all about closers. There's a lot of innings pitched in-between. I think it recognizes that middle innings are huge for games.''

Brach is the first former Monmouth University player to be selected to the All-Star Game, according to Monmouth University's sports information department.

The All-Star Game will be a homecoming for Brach. The San Diego Padres are the team that drafted Brach in the 42nd round of Major League Baseball's First-Year Player Draft in 2008 and the team Brach made his Major League debut for in 2011 against the Dodgers at Dodger Stadium. Brach was traded to Baltimore after the 2013 season.
