Summer of 2019 Information Coming Soon!!!
Check back soon for details!!!
It's Been Fun....
It's the end of an era. With folks getting older, playing less golf, or moving on to other activities, we no longer have the numbers to continue to sustain our group. It has certainly been fun. There have been lots of memorable rounds, new friendships made, and too many laughs to even try to count. We will leave the web page up. Who knows, maybe this is just a hiatus and the group will come back. That certainly would be terrific.
Hit 'em straight and not too often.

An Unexpected Week Off
There was no Beach Boys golf on Monday, July 23 due to a lack of numbers. Rain washed out the road trip to River Run on Wednesday, July 25. The River Run outing will hopefully be rescheduled at a later date.

Practice Round; No Official Results
Jimmy Atkinson, Ed Baillif, Matt Noble, Tom Ogilvie, Charlie Small and Russell States took advantage of a warm January 22nd and played a practice round at Eagle’s Landing. There was no official match, but Ogilvie was impressive, firing a 77 which included birdies on his final three holes (11, 12 and 13 since the group started on the 14th hole due to an outing). Good to shake the rust off after a seven-week hiatus!
Weather Halts Play on December 5
Commissioner Emeritus Pete Marshall called off today’s round on the eleventh hole due to rain and “freezing” weather. The unplayable light rain and 62 degree temperatures wiped out a fifty foot birdie putt by Charlie Small and outstanding rounds being played by Pat Morris and Mickey Meiklejohn, thus making the highlight of the day the excellent pecan pastry that Ed Baillif brought back from New Jersey and shared with the group.

Ryder Cup Results for 2017 Pete Marshall Invitiational
Congratulations to the Delaware squad led by Captain Pat Morris for handily capturing the 2017 Pete Marshall Invitational Ryder Cup Tournament played on Tuesday, October 17 at Eagle's Landing. The Delaware crew jumped out to commanding leads on the front nine in all six matches and cruised to the win, which netted each player a $20.00 prize. Thanks to Just Hooked and Tom Ogilvie and Steve Hagen for hosting the post-tournament festivities for the participants and wives/significant others. Look for another Ryder Cup tournament in the spring of 2018.

It's All About the Draw
Good or bad luck. Sometimes that factors in as much as playing good golf. The low round of the day was posted by Charlie Small with a net 65. Tommy Folliard, playing in the same group as Charlie, posted a net 67 and Donnie VanReenan fired a 68, but not of the three finished in the money as a result of the draw. Bob "Red Dog" Folliard and Matt Noble tied for first with Jack Hughes and Tom O'Brien. After approximately one-third of the season, Dog leads the group in net money earned, followed closely by Ron Easton, who has finished in the money an amazing 13 out of 15 times he has played. The lucky draw of the day went to Tom Fallon, who cashed in despite having an off-day score of 78.

Luchtman Stays Hot
Rich Luchtman posted the low score of the day with a net 64 to capture first place honors for the second straight outing. Unfortunately he was not lucky with the draw as he and Jimmy Atkinson ended up tied with John Badrian and Jon DeBuchananne for the top spot. Atkinson and Tom O'Brien had the day's good draw as they each won money despite firing net 77's. The tough luck draw of the day went to Jack Hughes and Bob "Red Dog" Folliard, who both had net 71's.

Luchtman and Tommy Folliard Pair for First Win for Each
Rich Luchtman's net 68 and Tommy Folliard's net 69 combined for first place, the first win for both players in 2015. The numbers were low and play finished in time to beat the rains that hit the course a few hours later. Ron Easton's net 68 put him in the money again, albeit a three-way tie for third place. Jack Hughes fired the low round of the day with a net 67, but he was the bad draw victim of the day as he finished out of the money. The good luck draw of the day went to Rob Lowery, whose 74 teamed with Easton to tie for third.

Easton Gets First Win, Continues Amazing Year
Ron Easton and Tom Child each shot net 70's to finish in a three-way tie for first. Easton has now been in the money 11 out of the 12 times he has played in 2015, but the win was his first of the year. Easton now has the lead in the all-important money column. Bob "Red Dog" Folliard fired the best round of the day, and his 66 combined with Rick Blattau to earn a share of first. Jack Hughes was the third winner, using a marker score to go along with his 67. Everyone that shot 71 or better finished in the money. The lucky draw of the day went to Pat "$1000 Man" Morris, who finished tied for fifth with partner Bud Jones despite shooting a 77. Mr. Morris has always claimed that it is all about the draw.

Morris and Jones Team for One Stroke Win
Pat "$1000 Man" Morris teamed with Bud Jones to shoot a net 141 to capture the days festivities. You know it is a tough group when the defending money champ is now classified as a B player. Ron Easton and Rich Luchtman finished one shot in back followed by Jonathan Spivak and Tom Ogilvie who were two off the pace. The Low Man experiment lasted only two outings, but Bob "Red Dog" Folliard suffered the tough luck, shooting a net 69 but not cashing in. The Lucky Draw of the day went to Tom O'Brien, who finished fourth despite shooting a net 78.

Newcomer and Veteran Combine for Win
First year man Tony Russo combined with original member Russell States to post a net 136 to win first place honors. Russo's net 65 was the day's best score along with Tommy Folliard, who teamed with Ron Easton to finish in second place, just one shot back. It was an interesting scoring round as four members fired net scores in the 60's (Jack Hughes and Bob Folliard were the other two and both finished among the top four), while other members posted abnormally high rounds. Charlie Small was the bad draw recipient of the day with a score of 70, while Tom Ogilvie was the good luck draw of the day, finishing tied for fourth despite shooting a net 75.

Marker Score Leads to Another Big Payout
The top money winner for the week has been "Marker Score," as it finished first for the second time in three days. Today's lucky draw recipient was Russell States. Now, Mr. States actually earned his winnings, posting a net 66, the low round for the day. Steve Hagen received the "Lucky Draw" as his 77 was matched with Ron Easton's 68, good enough for second place honors. A new winnings category was added today. The first "Bad Draw" prize of $10, awarded to the lowest net score that finished out of the money, went to Bob "Red Dog" Folliard, who posted a 69 but was not among the top four place winners. On a side note, either the extra year on his age or some intense birthday revelry did Tuesday's celebrant Jon DeBuchananne in today as he slogged his way around to a gross (literally and figuratively) 101.

Vitsorek Cashes in on Big Pay Day
John Vitsorek used a marker draw of a net 69 to combine with the net 68 he posted to capture first place honors. Being the only money winner in the duo, Vitsorek pocketed a season-high $40 for his performance. Jon DeBuchananne's 69, which served as the marker, combined with Bud Jones, who fired a 70, to team for second place. Bob "Red Dog" Folliard had the low round of the day at 67, and he and Jackson Chin finished third. The tough-luck draw of the day went to Tom Fallon, who posted a 68, but did not win any money. The favorable recipient draw of the day went to Tom Folliard and his 77 that teamed with Russell States to finish in a tie for fourth.

VanReenan Helps DeBuchananne Celebrate Birthday with a Win
Donnie VanReenan's net 68 coupled with birthday celebrant Jon DeBuchananne's 70 was good enough to squeak out a one stroke victory over Rich Luchtman and Bob "Red Dog" Folliard to capture top honors for the last event in April. Charlie Small and Pat "$1000 Man" Morris finished just two shots off the pace. The tough-luck round of the day went to Bud Jones as his 69 did not earn him any winnings. The good draw of the day goes to Steve "I Got Me Another Restaurant" Hagen as his round of 76 was paired with Jack "I'm Better Than Spieth" Hughes's 71, good enough for a fourth place finish.

Jordan Spieth has Nothing on the Pride of Bishopville
Jack Hughes may not have a green jacket hanging in his closet at his Bishopville homestead, but he has finished first three straight times, something even Master's champion Jordan Spieth cannot say he has done on the PGA Tour this season. Today the curator of the Eastern Shore's best collection of baseball memorabilia shared first place honors. Teaming with Jimmy Atkinson, they tied Russell States and Jackson Chin with a net 143. Newcomer Chris Kelly posted the low net of the day, shooting a 70, while Bud Jones was the tough-luck player of the day as his 72 earned him nothing but atta-boys despite besting four players that cashed in.

Hughes Survives Wind and Cold for Victory, Part 2
Perhaps Jack Hughes needs to re-think his well-known dislike for wind and cold weather golf. For the second time in three days, Hughes captured top honors despite windy and cold conditions. His net 70 along with Tom Fallon's 69 were a whopping eight strokes better than runner-ups Charlie Small and Manolo Gomez. Fallon is now batting 1.000 as he has finished first both times he has played. The tough draw of the day went to Bud Jones, who fired a low-round 68, but was teamed with Matt Noble's 81.

Jack Hughes fired a net 70, the second lowest score of the day, to capture first place by himself. With the odd-numbered group a marker was used, and Hughes was paired with Bud Jones, who had the day's low round of 70, Jones and Tom O'Brien garnered second place honors, finishing three strokes back. The weather wreaked havoc with the other scores, which were unusually high for this time of year.

Jones and Small Top Morris and Easton by One
Bud Jones and Pat "$1000 Man" Morris both fired 67's today, but Charlie Small's score bested Ron Easton by one stroke, propelling the Jones/Small team into first place for the day. Small moved into the winner's circle for the first time in 2015. Jones and Morris appear to be rounding into shape, as both have finished either first or second in each of their last two appearances. Bob "Red Dog" Folliard was the tough-luck player that finished out of the money despite firing a net 68, the victim of the blind draw.

VanReenan Posts Low Score, Teams with O'Brien for Win
Donnie VanReenan played in mid-season form, firing a net 67 to grab top honors along with Tom O'Brien. Bud Jones and Bob "Red Dog" Folliard finished two strokes back. Jack Hughes had the misfortune of the round, however, as he was teamed with Mickey Meiklejohn. Seems my fellow Indian had a bit of putting difficulty on one hole that cost the two of them the opportunity to finish in the money. The warm weather is finally back, so the scores, along with the handicaps, should come down quickly!

Marshall and Ogilvie Get Help from the $1000 Man
The $1000 Man made it back to the winner's circle for the second time this season, combining with the Commish to shoot a net 134. That was good enough for Pat Morris and Pete Marshall to tie Tom Ogilvie for first place honors. Tom used Pat's score as a marker, so Mr. Morris benefited to members instead of just one. Charlie Small and Rick Blattau finished a distant third, but collected a nice sum as only five members received winnings in the 15 player field.

Scores High after Six Week Layoff
It's been 42 long, cold days since the boys were able to hit the links, but 14 members were able to tee it up for an April Fool's Day outing. When the dust, or perhaps more appropriately, the mud settled, Tom Fallon and John Vitsorek combined for a net 152 to finish two strokes ahead of the teams of Ron Easton and Tom Child, and Jon DeBuchananne and Bob "Red Dog" Folliard. Bud Jones once again finished in the money teaming with Tom Folliard, albeit both ended up in the red financially for the day since they were only able to pocket in winnings half of the entry fee. Four members posted triple-digit gross scores following the long break.

The Dog Day of February: This is a Recording
Congratulations to "The Dog" as Bob Folliard won for the second straight event, leading the small but hardy field with a net 65. John Vitsorek and Jimmy Atkinson also broke 70, firing 69 each to tie for second. The winter conditions seemed to get the best of Pat "Rory" Morris. Perhaps we should return his nickname to Tiger, as the 2014 money leader missed finishing in the money for the third time in four attempts in 2015. Morris was quoted after the round as saying, "No more golf for me unless it's at least 50 degrees and zero wind. See you in the spring." Well, at least he has won money once this year, unlike Tiger.

Bob "Red Dog" Folliard topped the leaderboard for the first time in 2015. He was the only member to shoot a net score in the 60's. Johnny Vitsorek and Rick Blattau finished tied for second, four shots off the pace. The surprise score of the day was Jon DeBuchananne, who posted an uncharacteristic 83. He must have been spending too much time on his smart phone following Tennessee on national signing day.

Back in the Saddle Again
It didn't take long, but Pat "Shotgun" Morris slipped back into the winner's circle with a net 68 on a very wet but mild day at Eagle's Landing. Charlie Small, despite having major putting woes, also broke 70 to finish in second, one shot in back of Mr. Morris. The fashion faux pas of the early season, however, goes to Pete "Blue Jeans" Marshall. The usually stylishly dressed commissioner played today's round in blue jeans and a partially untucked shirt. The staff at Eagle's is rumored to be investigating the dress code violation by Delmarva's newest billboard and magazine ad star.

Northwood Alums Start New Year with a Bang
Fellow Northwood Indians Mickey Meiklejohn and Jon DeBuchananne fired a 66 and 67 net respectively to capture first and second in the first even of the 2015 Beach Boys Golf Season. Nine of the 16 players that braved the mid-40 degree temperatures collected money, but one was not 2014's leading money winner Pat "Rory" Morris. Bud Jones continued to finish in the money, a carry over from 2014. He will make an appearance on all of the leaderboards now with the new year having started.

Bud Jones returned to the winner's circle, teaming with Jon Vitsorek to shoot a net 133. Bob "Red Dog" Folliard used a maker score to earn second place honors and also picked up the cash for low net that was left over by having an odd number of winners due to the marker. Although he did not finish first, Red Dog's combined earnings made him the day's big winner.

Cream Rises to Top after Two-Week Hiatus
The weather did not cooperate for two weeks, but when the Boys were finally able to get back on the course and Pat "$1000 Man" Morris and Bob Jones shot a net 65 and 67 respectively to win going away. Their combined 132 was ten strokes better than Bob "Sandy" Folliard and Tom Child, who finished in second. Morris is the leading money winner for the season and Jones, who joined the group late, has proven to be the hottest player over the last several months. Bob Folliard also fired a net 67, and he is number two on the money-winnings list for the year. Russell States posted a 67 as well and finished in third along with Mickey Meiklejohn.

Drought Ends for First Place Finishers
It had been awhile for the winners, but Jimmy Atkinson, Tom O'Brien, and Russell States shot a net 213 to capture first place today by three strokes. It was the first time that Atkinson had finished first since November 17, the first time for O'Brien since September 25, and the first time for States since way back on August 21. The group was paced by States's 67, which tied Bud Jones, who had finish first in the last four events. The luck of the draw got to Jones this time, but he still managed to finish second in the group with Pat "Rory" Morris and Jonathan "Chef" Spivak.

Step Aside $1000 Man, There's a New Sheriff in Town!
Me and Mr. (not Mrs.) Jones will be what all the other members will be crooning this weekend as Bud Jones won for the fourth straight time today, posting a net 67. Today's recipient of good fortune was Charlie Small, as his 80 was good enough to pair with Mr. Jones for a first place tie with Tom Folliard and John Vitsorek. The news wasn't all bad for Pat "Rory" Morris, however, as his third place earnings along with John Merryman put him over the $1000 mark in earnings for 2014. Today's unlucky player award goes to Russell States who fired a net 70, better than all but one money winner (that would be Mr. Jones), but did not finish in the money. We are down to the final month of 2014. Hopefully the weather will cooperate so we will have several more rounds. All of the stats and standings will re-set on January 1. When we start over we will archive the 2014 information on the web page so we can refer to it in the future.

Jones Wins Again; Carries The Commish to a Victory
Bud Jones won for the second straight time, posting a net 69, and combined with Pete "The Commish" Marshall for first place. The Commish was the benefit of a fortunate draw, whereas Pat "Rory" Morris was not. Pat posted the second best net score for the day, but finished out of the money. Mickey Meiklejohn and Bob "Red Dog" Folliard finished second, just one stroke in back. Ron Easton returned to action after a several week hiatus for hunting.

Bob "Red Dog" Folliard fired and net 71 and Bud Jones posted a net 69 to earn first place honors, the first win of the 2014 campaign for Bud, who joined the group late in the season. Mickey Meiklejohn posted the day's best score, a net 67, and teamed with Russell States for second place. The hard luck award for the day goes to Tom Folliard who carded a net 69 but did not finish in the money.

Dog Almost Shoots His Age!
Bob "Red Dog" Folliard shot a terrific gross 78, just two shots off his age (that would be 76, not 80!) and combined with Jimmy Atkinson to capture the top prize as the group returned to the two-man blind draw format today. The group's leading money winner, Pat "Rory" Morris teamed with Tommy Folliard for second place. Perfect timing for the low scores gentlemen since they no longer affect the handicap scores, which go on hiatus in Delmarva until March 15.

So Much for Missing His Northwood Buddy!
Mickey Meiklejohn bounced back from a rare rough day on the course yesterday and fired a net 62 today to finish in first place. If my math is correct, that means the 10 handicap fired an even par 72. Tom Fallon and Dean "The Dream" Leinnenweber finished tied for second. Donnie VanReenan, Russell States and Pat Morris also shot net scores in the 60's today as the group had six players overall "go low." Several guests from Cripple Creek joined the group, but unfortunately the regulars did not prove to be hospitable on the course as none of the visitors was able to finish in the money. Rumor has it that Pete "The Commish" Marshall proved to be quite the affable host following the round.

Second: Fallon and Leinnenweber $27.50 each
Fourth: VanReenan and States and P. Morris $21.67 each

Another Win for Patty Mo
Pat Morris says, "the heck with the winter handicap because I am going low!" The groups leading money winner fired an impressive net 62 to edge out Bob "Sandy" Folliard for top honors today. Jimmy Atkinson and Dean "The Dream" Leinnenweber also carded net scores in the 60's. At the other end, Mickey Meiklejohn must miss his Northwood buddy as he finished with a net 79.

Two Tie Again
Bob "Sandy" Folliard and Donnie VanReenan were the only two players to shoot in the 60's today, each firing a net 68 to tie for first place. Three players were two shots back and split the money for third, fourth and fifth place.

Third: Jones and States and Leinnenweber $20.00 each

Nope. Not a Misprint
The weather was perfect. The course was in immaculate shape. It was a perfect day for the group to "go low." Somehow it did not work out that way and Jimmy Atkinson and Matt Noble's net 69's were good enough to tie for first place. Mickey Meiklejohn fired even par on the front nine, but struggled on the back. Pat "Rory" Morris figured to be at the top until he struggled on the greens late in his round.
First: Noble and Atkinson $32.50 each
Third: VanReenan $25.00
Fourth: DeBuchananne $20.00

New Blood at the Top
Jackson Chin fired an impressive net 65 to pick up first place honors, two strokes better than Tom O'Brien in today's individual net match. Pat Morris served as the acting commissioner and tied Jonathan Spivak for third as both carded net 69's. The clocks change this weekend and the handicap season is over in a little over two weeks. FYI, the leaderboard and stats will be re-set to zero on January 1. Although the handicap season is over November 15, hopefully there will be much more golf to play prior to the new handicap season starting in March. Happy Halloween!

He's Back!!!!
After a mild slump that caused him to finish out of the money for four out of five events, Pat "Rory" Morris has found his game. After firing a net 67 last time out only to be done in by an unlucky draw, the group's money leader posted another net 67 today, good enough to take top honors in the individual net competition. Mickey Meiklejohn finished one shot in back as only two of the ten players broke 70.

Maybe Today Should be Called the Montgomery County Classic?
Everybody wins!!! Well, at least it seems like it. Perhaps it was a reward for playing in tough conditions, but two-thirds of the field collected winnings today, led by John Badrian and Donnie VanReenan's outstanding 139. Pat "Rory" Morris truly was done in by the blind draw as his outstanding net 67 was paired with Pete "The Commish" Marshall and finished in a tie for third. High winds and cart-path only kept the field down to just 12 players. Conditions were almost as rough on the western side of the bridge as well!

Small Comes Up Large
Charlie Small took advantage of a surprising change in format today, firing a net 68 to top John Vitsorek by two strokes in individual low-net play. Jimmy Atkinson's 71 was good enough for third and John Badrian finished fourth. Pat "Rory" Morris snapped his mini-slump by posting a net 73, good enough for a fifth place tie with Pete "The Commish" Marshall.

Ogilvie Impressive in Leading Team to Victory
The celebration probably went long into the night at Brew River as Tom Ogilvie brought Eagle's Landing to its knees, firing a gross 72, good enough for a net 60, and combined with Rick Blattau to finish first in today's event. The pair finished a whopping nine strokes ahead of Pete "The Commish" Marshall and Mickey Meiklejohn. The Northwood grad along with Tommy Folliard finished with a net score in the 60's, but alas, the luck of the draw was not with Mr. Folliard as he finished out of the money. Ogilvie's round featured three birdies, including one on number 7 when he reached the green in two. On the other end, Pat "Rory" Morris has found himself mired in his worst slump of the year as he found himself on the outside looking in for the fourth time in the last five rounds.

Slow and Steady Wins Today
Snails pace. So slow some packed it in. The team of Jack Hughes and Mickey Meiklejohn endured, however, to take first place today with a net score of 137, three shots better than Bud Jones and John Vitsorek. Mr. Hughes has had quite the week, posting a second and a first place finish in his last two outings.

Partners Make the Difference in Today's Round
Three players managed to fire a net 66 today, so it was the luck of the draw that determined the winning teams today. Donnie VanReenan's 66 was paired up with Rick Blattau's 69 and the duo picked up top honors today. Jack Hughes continued his all-around good play of late with a 66 and teamed with Bob "Sandy" Folliard to finish second. Tom Ogilvie was not as lucky, however, as his 66 did not earn him diddly squat thanks to the draw. Six players were in the 60's, so the later tee times seem to be agreeing with most.

Sister Kissing
The field was small, but half of the twelve players finished in a tie for first on a breezy mid-day at Eagle's Landing. Bob "Sandy" Folliard, Jon DeBuchananne, and Pat "Rory" Morris posted a net 66-69-72, the exact same as Jimmy Atkinson, Pete Marshall, and Russell States. The two teams were a full nine shots better than the third place group and a whopping 17 strokes better than the cellar dwellers despite Jack Hughes firing a commendable net score of 68.

One day after playing well as a field, the scores blew up as only two players managed to break 70 for a net score. A day earlier the combined score of 140 posted by winners Charlie Small and Bob "Sandy" Folliard would not have finished in the money, but on this day it was good enough for first place. The teams of Jimmy Atkinson/John Horvat and Tom O'Brien/Tom Fallon tied for second, just one stroke in back.

Meiklejonn's Albatross Leads Way to Win
Mickey Meiklejohn posted a rare albatross (double eagle) on the 13th hole en route to a one-under par 71 and teamed with Anthony Colicchio to shoot a net 128 and first place honors. Despite bogeying the 18th hole, also known by some as the worst hole in America, Meiklejohn and Colicchio were only able to edge Pat "Rory" Morris and Tom Fallon by one stroke. The field shot well today as nine players shot a net score in the 60's.

Tom O'Brien teamed with newcomer Bob Bryan to finish first for just the second time in 27 tries this season. The duo posted a net 135, three strokes better than Tom Ogilvie and Donnie VanReenan. O'Brien's only other win came way back on June 10 when he paired with Pat "Rory" Morris. Bryan, Ogilvie, and Mickey Meiklejohn were the only three players to record a net score in the 60's.

DeBuchananne and Hughes Edge Out Three Other Teams
Jon DeBuchananne posted one of only four net scores in the 60's and teamed with Jack Hughes, who fired a 72, to best three other pairs for first prize. Charlie Small fired a 67 for the low net round of the day, but he has to be wondering about the validity of Bob "Sandy" Folliard's post-season award at the Dog netted a 75, dropping the pair into a second place tie with with the Tom-Tom's (O'Brien and Childs) and Rick Blattau and newcomer Ken McDowell. Today was truly a reflection of Pat "Rory" Morris's "luck of the draw" theory.

VanReenan and Ogilvie Blow Away the Field
It was wet. The fairways had been aerated as had some of the rough. It was the day after the Fall Beach Boys Classic and the post-event frivolity at Just Hooked. And the scores showed it. That is, except for Donnie VanReenan and Tom Ogilvie, who blew away the field, winning by nine strikes with an impressive 134 net total. The blind draw put heavyweights Bob "Sandy" Folliard and Pat "Rory" Morris together, but the two posted an uncharacteristic 145 score. That score was still good enough to finish fourth. Only four players managed to fire a net score in the 60's. Mickey Meiklejohn was a victim of the blind draw as he was the only under-70 shooter to finish out of the money. Now comes a much needed weekend break after a busy week at the course.

Vitsorek and Badrian Capture Season's Second Major by Three Strokes
The summer season of Beach Boys Golf came to an unofficial end today with the season's second major, the Fall Beach Boys Classic. John Vitsorek and John Badrian combined for a net 139 to finish first by three shots on a picture perfect late-summer afternoon. Pat "Rory" Morris overcame a few inconsistent outings the past few weeks and combined with Matt Noble to finish second. Although more golf is still to be played in 2014, three awards were handed out at the post-Classic festivities at Just Hooked. Ron Easton earned well-deserved Player of the Year honors. Jon DeBuchananne was feted as the Most Improved Player, while Bob "Red Dog" Folliard has picked up either a second or new moniker and will now also be know as "Sandy" for earning Sandbagger of the Year honors.
With a major also comes winners for closest to the pin shots on six holes. Easton, befitting of his POY award, was the only player to win two such holes, finishing closest on the par four fourth after his second shot and on the par three twelfth with his tee shot.
Following the Classic, Steve Hagen graciously hosted the players and their spouses with an excellent buffet at Just Hooked. It goes without saying that everyone at Just Hooked is greatly appreciative of Steve and his staff's generosity and outstanding food and drink.

Jonathan Spivak and Rick Blattau also scored in the 60's and appear to be peaking at just the right time before Wednesday's second and final major of the year. DeBuchananne's Net 65 Leads the Way
After being rained out on Tuesday, September 9 for the first time in months, the Beach Boys returned to action with Jon DeBuchananne posting a net 65, good enough for first place along with teammate Donnie VanReenan. John Badrian and Rick Blattau finished just one stroke back to claim second place. It appears everyone is honing his game for next week's second and final major of the season. Full Moon? Funny Tide? Upside Down Results!!!
At first, the webmaster thought his email was hacked because of the peculiar results from today. Congratulations, however, go out to the winning trio of John DeBuchananne, Pete "The Commish" Marshall, and Steve Vincent for finishing first today with a net 129. That score was a whopping seven strokes better than the runner-up score posted by Tom Child, Russell States, and Jonathan "Chef" Spivak. What is equally impressive is the list of those that finished out of the money today. Pat "Rory" Morris, Bob "Red Dog" Folliard, Ron Easton and John Vitsorek, who has won eight of the 10 times he has played this year, all finished on the outside looking in. Fun to see some others stepping up!

There is nothing like home cooking, even on the golf course. Two players in the running for player of the year honors teamed to win today's event as Pat "Rory" Morris and Bob "Red Dog" Folliard combined for an impressive net 134, edging Tom Ogilvie and Donnie VanReenan for by two strokes. Nine of the 20 players shot a net score in the 60's, but the luck of the draw was unkind to Tom Fallon as he was the only member to not collect despite shooting three strokes under net par. On a bright side note, Jack Hughes managed to par the despicable 18th hole today! The fun returns to Eagle's bright and early Thursday.

Ogilvie Snaps Long Drought, Vitsorek Gets First Win
The venue was new, the scores were up, and Tom Ogilvie notched only his second win of the season. The Brew River GM's only other win came back on July 17. The group's junior member teamed with John Vitsorek to claim first prize. While it was the first win for Vitsorek in limited play this year, he has finished in the money now seven out of nine times! Third member Steve Vincent's score was tossed out, but Mr. Vincent still gets credit for the win and collected first place money. Speaking of the luck of the draw, Pat "Rory" Morris really did benefit from a good draw, as his teammates Dean Leinnenweber and Ron Easton played well enough to finish second without the use of the Morris net 77. The other big news was the higher scores as only two players netted a score under 70 and three posted a total in the 80's. Looks like the brethren will be delighted to return to the friendly confines of Eagle's Landing and the good cooking from Mel and her staff next week!

Winners Take All on Road Venue
Play shifted to Bay Club due to aeration at Eagle's Landing today and the result on the road course was a four-way tie for first place. While the worst net score was just two over par, only two players, Jack Hughes and Tom Folliard, were able to post a net score in the 60's. Play moves to the Seaside course at Ocean City Golf Club on Thursday.

States and Blattau Come Out on Top
On a day when 14 of the 20 players shot net par or better, Russell States and Rick Blattau combined for a net 133 to edge Pat Morris and Tom Child in today's event. In fact, only two strokes separated the top four pairs today. The Beach Boys Golf Tour moves away from Eagle's Landing next week due to aeration of the greens. It will be interesting to see how the group responds to a different venue.

Blattau and Hughes Take Top Honors; Tiger Morris Returns to the Money Winners
Only four strokes separated the first place team of Rick Blattau and Jack Hughes from the two teams that finished in fifth place in today's closely contested match. Eight players managed to shoot a net score in the 60's. It will be interesting to see what happens when the group ventures away from Eagle's Landing next week. Also, after a week-long hiatus, season money leader Pat "Tiger, should we now call him Rory" Morris finished back in the money.

Easton and Child Garner Top Honors
Ron Easton and Tom Child combined for a net score of 140 to capture today's event by three strokes. Several names that have not appeared on the winners' list lately showed up today as the battle for the fifth and final payout spot was very close. It's amazing how just one stroke lost in a round can be the difference from collecting and going home empty-handed. The weather was perfect for a mid-August day. For the webmaster it is back over the bridge to the work world. Here's to continued great weather, going low, and good friends.

Beach Boys Fall Classic Set for September 17
Save the date. The Second Annual Beach Boys Fall Classic will be held on Wednesday, September 17 at Eagle's Landing. The first tee time will be at 10:42. The field will be limited to 24 players. Be sure to sign up with The Commish as soon as possible. Entry fee will be $20.00. The format and prizes will be announced soon. Post-round festivities will take place at Just Hooked in Fenwick Island. The Commish will be accepting prize contributions through September 9.
No First Place for The Dog and Tiger Show for the First Time in 33 Days
Blame in on the Super Moon. Maybe it was the overcast and windy day. For the first time since July 10 neither Pat "Tiger" Morris or Bob "Red Dog" Folliard finished in first place in a Beach Boys Golf event. The honor today went to the three-man team of Jack Hughes, Don VanReenan and Tom Fallon. To take it even further, it was the first time since June 2 that neither player finished in the money when both players played, a stretch of 20 consecutive events. Hughes and Jimmy Atkinson both posted net 63's, but the luck of the draw favored Hughes, as Atkinson had to settle for a second place finish.

This is a Recording
Once again it is a lot of the same names that finished atop today's event at Eagle's Landing. The late (10:30 AM) tee time and an evening of frivolity at the DeBuchananne's the night before for many in the field did not alter the usual outcome. Note that the top four money leaders (Morris, Spivak, Easton and The Dog) all collected today. Perhaps one of the worst rounds of the season was posted by Noble and Howard as they combined for a 168 net score, a whopping 31 strokes off the lead and 20 in back of the money winners. At least the weather was perfect!

Handicaps Change but Dog Stays Hot
August 1 brought about handicap adjustments, but Bob "Red Dog" Folliard continued his hot play, recording a net 69 and teamed with Dean "The Dream" Leinneweber to capture first place honors. Pete "The Commish" Marshall cashed in again, pairing up with Russell States to grab second place honors. Pat "Tiger" Morris once again just barely hung on to cash in, finishing in a tie for fifth with partner John Merryman. Perhaps there is more than one Tiger that is going to struggle in August. Ahh, the month is still very young.

No, No, Patty Mo
For only the second time since April 24, Pat "Tiger" Morris failed to finish in the money in a Beach Boys Golf Event. For the first time this year a four-man blind draw was used, throwing out the worst score of each foursome. The "Commish," Pete Marshall, managed a first place finish along with Jonathan Spivak, Russell States, and Bob "Mr. 58" Folliard. Dog was actually off his game today as he was only up to recording a net 59, but it was his fourth round under a net 60 in three weeks. New handicaps come out for next week. Will there be major changes?

The Dog and Tiger Show Continues
Woodward High School graduate Steve Sands, the executive currently in charge of golf programming for NBC Sports Net, may be paying a visit to Ocean City in the near future to report on the remarkable performance of one Bob "Red Dog" Folliard on the Beach Boys Golf Tour. For the third time in two weeks, "Dog" recorded a net 58. The wily veteran posted a net 27 on the front nine. When "Dog" was asked what his handicap was in his prime he replied, "I didn't really have a handicap. I was a gambler." Hmmmm.....The lucky member to be paired with Mr. 58 today was Jon DeBuchananne, who had a net 70 that was bested by nine other not-so-fortunate players. Was Pat "Tiger" Morris in the money? That's like asking if Pete "The Commish" Marshall is in the first group. Of course he was. His below par (again) net of 69 paired with a fine net 67 by Russell States was good enough for fourth place. Once again the company was great, and you just can't beat the $5.00 lunch deal, so a good time was had by all (we think). One more round and the start of August means handicap adjustments.

Back to Normal as the Commish Teams Up with Tiger to Tie Easton and Hagen
It didn't take long for Pat "Tiger" Morris to move back into the winner's circle as he teamed with Pete Marshall to tie Steve Hagen and Ron Easton for first place honors today. Pat and Ron have now combined to win at least half of the events in 2014 through today. Both duos were truly teams today as each netted in the 60's.

Dog Goes Low Again; Tiger Morris Barely Keeps Streak Alive
Bob "Red Dog" Folliard posted a net 58 for the second time in as many weeks and teamed with Mr. Morris, albeit Joe and not Pat, to take first place today. The commisioner is checking to see if handicaps are computed in Delaware the same as they are in Maryland. Joe's net score of 81 may be the highest "winning" score of the season. Tiger Morris finished in the money today thanks to Matt Noble's blown 12 inch putt on number 9. If that putt goes in, Tiger would have been out of the money today. It has been that kind of year for Pat!

The Greatness that is Tiger Morris
How incredible has the run that Pat "Tiger" Morris has been on? During 2014, Pat has only finished out of the money three times. He has only finished out of the money once since April 24! The only day Pat failed to pocket anything since April was on June 2 when he posted a net 77 and dragged down Red Dog's 72. After finishing second on June 3, Pat went on an incredible run, posting a first place finish every time he played between June 5 and July 3. He re-entered the winner's circle the last time out on June 17 after finishing second on July 8, third on July 10, and second on July 15. More than halfway through the year, it looks as if the Beach Boys Player of the Year award is all but secure. Congratulations Pat on a marvelous run so far. It gives the rest of us something to shoot for!
Also, after tomorrow's round I will move the results from the start of the season down on the front news page so that all of the results will appear in chronological order. If you see any mistakes that I have made, please feel free to let me know. Remember, this is all in good fun!
Morris Goes Low, Morris Wins Again, This is a Recording
The conditions were wet due to 2 inches of rain the previous day and cart path only rules, but Pat Morris continued his domination of the 2014 season. To rub salt in the wound, Pat even collected the low net winnings for the day. Can anyone step up and beat this guy?
