PLEASE NOTE THAT FOR THE 2025 FRIDAY FALL SEASON, WE HAVE DROPPED THE AGE REQUIREMENT TO 65 YEARS OLD

The Berkeley Friday Over 66 Summer Softball League is winding down, and the Friday Over 65 Fall League will be starting the Friday after Labor Day, September 5.  For the past five years, we have had four teams of 15 players each (60 players in total) participating in our fall league. We plan to have four teams again. Due to the short Fall season (8 weeks), please consider your signup a commitment to your team. If you expect to miss multiple games, please refrain from signing up, as this would be unfair to your teammates.

Our league plays doubleheaders every Friday morning and is an all-draft league, with new teams joining every season. The draft will be held in early August, and the season will open on Friday, September 5. We plan for the regular season to conclude near the end of October, with single-elimination playoffs following its completion. Players must be 65 years old or older in the calendar year 2025 to be eligible.

The registration link for 2025 is available on this website under REGISTER ONLINE. The first 60 players who register and pay will be guaranteed a spot in the draft.

Our history indicates that most players register within the first 2-3 weeks of the registration period, with additional registrants following. However, some players tend to wait until the end of the registration period to make their payments. Players who register early but don’t submit their checks promptly may not be included in the draft because their payments are received after the required number of players have registered and paid. Those players who are not selected in the draft will be placed on a waiting list and will be called upon to replace players who drop out due to injury or for any other reason. Therefore, it is in your best interest to register and pay as soon as possible if you intend to participate. Remember that the Registration Fee checks must be mailed; hand-delivered cash or checks will not be accepted.

I will send updates to keep you informed about our registration numbers. If you register and pay, but decide before the draft takes place that you cannot or don’t want to play, you will receive a full refund. After the draft takes place, players who drop out will receive a refund from their replacement player (assuming a replacement player is available) taken from the waiting list (based on the number of games the replacement player will be eligible to play).

The fall season is a short season (8 weeks), so if you expect to miss several Fridays due to vacation or other commitments, use common sense to determine whether you should register.

The cost to play this year is $50 (same as last year). Please make your $50 check payable to “BSSL” and mail it to our treasurer:
