Discount cards have arrived!  

Each child is required to sell 7 cards (2nd child is required to sell only 5, family max of 15 for 3+ kids).  Cards are $10 each.  Once you sell all of the cards, you recoup the full amount of your out-of-pocket expense for the fundraiser. 

This is our only mandatory fundraiser of the season.  

Cards MUST be paid for at time of pick-up.

Football discount card pick-up will begin Monday, August 10th at 7:30 pm at the Bear Cave.

Cheer discount card pick-up will begin Tuesday, August 11th at 7:00 pm at the Bear Cave. 

You have until August 21st to pick up and pay for your cards.

SEASON RESUMES - AUGUST 3RD

Football conditioning begins Monday, August 3rd

Cheer practice resumes Tuesday, August 4th.

NEW FOOTBALL  / CHEER REPORT TIMES

In order to maintain social distancing, we are going to stagger the report times and dismissal times for both football and cheer practices.  This new schedule begins August 3rd:

Football Practice Schedule

  5:45-7:45 pm - Mighty Mite Football
  6:00-8:00 pm - Termite Football
  6:15-8:15 pm - Twerp Football

Cheer Practice Schedule 

  5:45-7:15 pm - Mighty Mite Cheer
  6:00-7:30 pm - Termite Cheer
  6:15-7:45 pm - Twerp Cheer
  6:15-7:15 pm - Pee Wee Cheer

Parents should drop off their players/cheerleaders and either remain in their cars or maintain appropriate social distancing from other parents.  Parents should also wear masks when in close contact to other people.  At absolutely NO time should any parent be on the football field or in the cheer or football practice areas.  Coaches, team moms, sponsors, players and cheerleaders are the only people permitted on the field or in the practice areas. 

The Daily Covid Questionnaire MUST be filled out prior to every practice your child attends.  If your child comes to practice, and this has not been completed, your child will NOT practice.  NO exceptions.  The questionnaire should not be filled out more than 4 hours before your practice time.  (eg. Do not fill it out at 8am for practice at 6pm.)

All players must complete the Covid Waiver and submit a printed copy to your team mom or sponsor prior to your first practice.  Many of the cheerleaders already did this back in early July.  Again, no player will be allowed to play until this waiver is submitted.  NO exceptions.  (This waiver was emailed to everyone.)

Our top priority is keeping our players and cheerleaders safe and healthy.  By following this guidance and practicing safe procedures, we can all help make this season a safe and healthy one for our kids!  We need everyone's cooperation and discipline when it comes to cleaning equipment, submitting the Covid questionnaires, etc.  Please do your part.  We appreciate it!


FINAL REGISTRATIONS FOR THE 2020 SEASON

FINAL FOOTBALL REGISTRATION  -  POSTPONED TO LATER DATE! Registrations will NOT be held on July 16th. 

Our FINAL football registration for the 2020 season will be held on Thursday, July 16th from 6:00-7:00 pm at Hardy Field Pavilion. 

Cost is $75 per athlete; 2nd child is $65; additional children are $45 each.  Each registration must be accompanied by a $50 volunteer deposit, which will be returned to you upon fulfilling your volunteer requirements.

The football season begins Monday, July 20th(See additional detail on the football season below.)

GROUPME APP

We will use the GroupMe app as our primary method of communication during the season.  Practice schedules, game schedules, cancellations, delays, etc will all be communicated through this app.  

Parents have been added to GroupMe based on the information provided on your athlete's registration form.  If you have not received an invitation to join GroupMe, please text Jenn Baker (724) 544-2267 with your name, your child's name and the team/squad your child is on.

Once you have downloaded the GroupMe app, you can silence the notifications, so that only a pop-up shows in your toolbar when you've received a message from us.  This should cut down on any unnecessary disturbances.

CHEER PRACTICE

Cheer practices begin on Thursday, July 2nd.  We will practice from 6:00-7:00 pm that evening.  This practice will be more of a meet & greet.  The girls will meet their coaches and their sponsors, along with the rest of their squad. 

A Parent Meeting will be scheduled very soon.  Due to Covid-19 gathering restrictions, we are looking to doing this via Zoom call or Google Meet.  Info will be distributed soon. 

Cheer camp will be held on Monday, July 6th through Friday, July 10th from 6:00-8:00 pm each night. (Pee Wees are from 6:00-7:00 pm only.)

Girls should wear comfortable clothing - no dresses or skirts, no flip flops and no sandals.

FOOTBALL PRACTICE

The football season begins Monday, July 20th

Conditioning will be held on Monday, July 20th through Friday, July 24th from 6:00-8:00 pm each night at Hardy Field. 

Full pad practice begins on Monday, July 27th at Hardy Field. 

Practices will be Monday through Friday from 6:00-8:00 pm through August.  Once school begins, practices will go down to 3 times per week, likely Tuesday through Thursday. 

COVID -19 PROTOCOL AND WAIVERS

All Covid-19 waivers should be turned in at your athlete's first practice (July 2nd for Cheer; July 20th for Football).  Please hang on to them until then.  Athlete will NOT be permitted to practice without a signed waiver.

REGISTRATION AND MEMBERSHIP MEETING INFORMATION

Thank you for your patience as we navigate through the Covid-19 pandemic and how it affects our organization. We are hopeful that all of our BT Bears families are healthy and looking forward to the 2020 season!   

Registration Info

Now that Beaver County is in the yellow phase, we are able to again hold in-person registrations. In staying within safety protocols set forth by the State of Pennsylvania, we cannot hold a gathering of more than 25 people.  We will hold registrations under the pavilion at Hardy Field on Friday, June 5th from 6:00 to 7:00 pm.  We ask that everyone respect each other's space while registering. 

If you plan to attend registrations, we ask the following:

  • Each parent should sit at a separate picnic bench while completing the forms. 
  • Please bring your own pen, if it makes you more comfortable.
  • Masks are not required.  Wearing one is at your own discretion.
  • Payment can be cash or check payable to BTB.  ($75 for one child, $65 for second child, $55 for each additional)
  • Volunteer deposit check required in the amount of $50 payable to BTB for each child being registered.

While we do not have any final information on the season schedule, we are proceeding as if the season will happen as normal.  There may be changes, and the season may look a little different, but we will pass that information on to all our families as soon as it is available.

Skills to Sparkle Cheer Clinic

The Skills to Sparkle Cheer Clinic scheduled for April 15th and 16th has been postponed due to the stay-at-home order imposed by Governor Wolf in the State of Pennsylvania.  Our hope is to reschedule the clinic for a later date, hopefully in May or early June.  We will update everyone as soon as we have more information.  Thank you!

Membership Meeting
The first membership meeting of the 2020 season will be held on Saturday, February 15th at 10 am. The meeting will be held at Seven Oaks Country Club in the Hickory Room. 

Early Registrations

  • Early registrations will be held on Thursday, February 20th from 6 to 8 pm
  • Registrations will be held at Seven Oaks in the Hickory Room.
  • Early discounted registration fees for the 2020 season will be $60 for the first child, $50 for the second child, and $40 for each additional child.
  • All early registrations require a $50 volunteer deposit check at the time of registration. There will be no exceptions. If you do not have the $50 deposit check at the time of registration, you will not be able to register your child, and you will not be given the discounted rate.  

 

FINAL EQUIPMENT / UNIFORM TURN-IN

 

If you still have your equipment/uniforms, please bring it to the Bear Cave on Tuesday, December 3rd between 6-7 pm for turn-in. If you cannot make that date, please reply to this email to make other arrangements with Mel, David or Jenn.  Please remember to wash all uniforms before returning them. 

 

If your equipment is not turned in BEFORE the banquet (Dec 15th), you will be invoiced for the missing equipment/uniforms per the fee schedule you agreed to at registration - $565 for football players, $190 for cheerleaders.

WESTERN BEAVER YOUTH DAY - Saturday, October 5th

Please join us this Saturday, October 5th!  Western Beaver High School has invited the Brighton Twp. Bears to participate in their Youth Day. The players and cheerleaders are encouraged to wear their uniforms (just jerseys for football players) and meet at Western Beaver High School. This is WB's homecoming day, and our players and cheerleaders will form a tunnel on the field for the players to run through, similar to what we did for Beaver's Youth Night.  The BTB Board will be grilling hamburgers and hot dogs for all families in attendance prior to the game, beginning at 11:00 am.

IMPORTANT:  If you are able to attend, please respond to this event and comment on your GroupMe and let us know how many people will be in your group, so we can prepare accurately for food. Hope to see you all there! 


 

Homecoming / Senior Night

 

  • Homecoming / Senior Night will be held on Saturday, September 14th at Hardy Field.

  • Each non-graduating cheerleader will receive a poster-sized megaphone to decorate however they wish, along with a poster-size football with one of our football players’ names.  We ask you to decorate these and return them to us no later than Thursday, September 12th.  These will be passed out tto the cheerleaders the first week in September.

  • As the date gets closer, the parents of our senior girls and boys will receive questionnaires to complete for their announcement prior to our Mighty Mites game at 3:00 pm that day.  Stay tuned for more info on this.

 


 

Beaver Youth Night

 

  • The Beaver Bobcats High School Football Team will host its Youth Night game on Friday, September 20th at Beaver High School’s Tarquinio Field.  

  • The BT Bears will host a tailgate party at Shaw Park’s pavilion (near the football field and tennis courts) beginning at 5:30 pm on Youth Night.  All BT Bears’ families are invited to attend. 

  • More information will be forthcoming as the event gets closer.  

 


GAME TIME CHANGES for August 24th

The game times have changed for both the Termite and Mighty Mite games on Saturday, August 24th! 

Our Termite game will now be at 10:00 am (not 12:00 pm) versus Neshannock at Hardy Field.

Our Mighty Mite game will now be at 12:00 pm (not 2:00 pm) versus Neshannock at Hardy Field.  

Our Twerp game will be at 5:00 pm versus Ellwood City at Ellwood City.  The address is 807 Jefferson Avenue, Ellwood City, PA 16117. 


CHEER PICTURE DAY

Thursday, August 8, 2019 is Cheer Picture Day. 

Pictures will be taken in the Dutch Ridge Gym, according to the following schedule:

5:30 pm - Pee Wee Cheer

6:00 pm - Termite Cheer

6:30 pm - Mighty Mite Cheer

7:00 pm - Twerp Cheer

Group photos will be taken at the beginning of each squad's session, so PLEASE be on time! 

Girls should wear full uniforms - midriff, boycut briefs, uniform shell, uniform skirt, bow, socks and cheer shoes.  Hair can be however you'd like. Please be fully dressed prior to you report time.

Monday, August 26, 2019 is Football Picture Day.

Pictures will be taken at Hardy Field.  (In the case of inclement weather, pictures will be done in the back of the Bear Cave.)

BEAR CAMP- Begins Monday, July 22nd

** Monday, July 22nd is the first night of Bear Camp! **

Camp will be held Monday through Friday next week from 6:00-8:00 pm each night.  (No camp on Saturday or Sunday.) 

Football players should wear light clothing for conditioning - t-shirts/tanks and shorts are appropriate.  Football cleats are preferred, but athletic shoes would also work for this week.

Please remember to bring a water bottle.  The concession stand will be open each night with a selection of refreshments (water, Gatorade, Pepsi products, iced teas), along with a limited food menu (soft pretzels and nachos) during camp week.  We also have candy and chips available for purchase.  A full menu will be available beginning the week of July 29th.

The first night of full-pad practice will be Monday, July 29th from 6:00-8:00 pm. Equipment will be distributed during conditioning week.

 

 

 

2019 FOOTBALL INFORMATION

2019 Football conditioning ("Bear Camp") will be held the week of July 22nd - 26th from 6:00-8:00 pm.

Practice in full pads will begin on Monday, July 29th.  Practice will be Monday through Friday from 6:00-8:00 pm.

Scrimmage game will likely be scheduled for the weekends of August 3rd/4th and August 10th/11th.  More details will be provided by the coaches and team moms/sponsors. 

First regular season game will be held the weekend of August 17th/18th.  See "Schedule" for game times and locations once posted. (We should have a final schedule by mid-July.) 


MIDLAND'S 4TH OF JULY PARADE

If you are participating with us in Midland's 4th of July Parade...

The parade begins at 10:00 am.  Cheerleaders will need to report no later than 9:30 am.  The meeting location will be announced soon.  We are still waiting for Midland to give us our number for the parade (our spot in the lineup).  Once we have that, we will let everyone know where to meet.  Please watch your GroupMe app for more information.  Or, you can always contact Mel or Jenn via text.

EARLY DISCOUNTED REGISTRATIONS

It's that time again!  We're offering early, discounted registrations for football and cheer.

For just this one night, registrations will be $15 less than normal registration fees!

 

Thursday, February 7, 2019
          6:00 - 8:00 pm
      Brighton Twp. Municipal Building
       (1300 Brighton Road, Beaver, PA)

 

Discounted registration will be $60 for first child, $50 for second child and $40 for each additional child.  Registration fees can be paid via cash or check. 

REQUIREMENT:  A $50 volunteer deposit check per child is required at the time of registration.  (This check will not be cashed unless volunteer requirements are not fulfilled by the end of the season.)  No child can be registered without this volunteer deposit check. No exceptions.

** After February 7th, registration fees will be $75 for the first child, $65 for the second child and $55 for each additional child. **

INCITE PROGRAM:  A representative from Riddell will also be there to answer any questions you may have about our football helmets and the new Incite concussion monitoring system we have begun implementing in our helmets. This is a state-of-the-art safety system that we are proud to be able to offer our players for a reduced cost. Your child's safety is always our #1 priority.

BANQUET GIFT PICK-UP

For those of you who were unable to attend the banquet, we have scheduled a pick-up time for you to get your son/daughter's season-end gifts from the Brighton Twp. Bears. 

Mel and Jeanne will be at the Bear Cave concession stand at Hardy Field tomorrow, January 17th from 5:30-6:30 pm.  Please swing by to grab your son/daughter's gift bag. 

If you are unable to come on the 17th, we will have the gifts at our early registration events.  Be on the lookout for an email and Facebook posts regarding the dates, times and locations for our 2019 registrations!  It's a great year to be a Bear! 


UNIFORM & EQUIPMENT TURN-IN

The final uniform turn-in for all football players and cheerleaders will be held on

Thursday, November 15th from 5:30-6:30 pm

at the Bear Cave Concession Stand. 

If you cannot make it on Thursday, you must contact your team mom or sponsor and make arrangements to turn-in your equipment and uniforms before then.

Per the agreement you signed on your registration form, you will be billed for missing equipment not turned in by November 15th, as follows:

Cheer

Unpaid invoices for equipment will be turned into the magistrate for collection after December 15th. (We don't want to do this, so please turn-in your uniforms and equipment.)

Homecoming Day

Homecoming will be Saturday, October 6th.  The Brighton Twp. Bears will take on the Hopewell Vikings. (Midget game will have a different opponent.)

Game times are:

  • Twerps 9:30 am
  • Termites  11:30 am
  • Mighty Mites  2:00 pm
  • Midgets  4:00 pm

Graduating Mighty Mite and Midget football players and cheerleaders will be recognized during a pre-game ceremony that will begin immediately following the Termite football game.  Estimated time is 1:15 pm. 

Cheerleaders should return all decorating megaphones and footballs to the Bear Cave (or to their sponsor) by Thursday, October 4th. 


 

ADOPTION ROCKS CHARITY FUNDRAISER GAME - Saturday, September 15, 2018

 

Brighton Twp. Bears VS.  Freedom Bulldogs

 

Adoption Connection, PA is a private, non-profit adoption and foster care agency, licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare and is an affiliate of the Statewide Adoption Network.  Adoption Connection, PA provides a full range of services to birth parents, adoptive parents, and children as well as foster care services. The agency assists adoptive families with home studies and other supportive services, bringing waiting children and families together as forever families. They also operate a full service foster care program known as Family Connections. Family Connections serves state & county agencies that need families and services for children in Child Protective Services and, most importantly, serves children in need of stable loving homes.

Each year, the Brighton Twp. Bears and the Freedom Bulldogs come together in a charity fundraiser game supporting Adoption Connection, PA.  Each participant (players and cheerleaders) is given a container and asked to collect as much money as they can to donate to Adoption Connection, PA to assist in finding homes for waiting children.  Each participant will be introduced before their game and he or she will run to the 50-yard line and deposit their container in a large receptacle.  That day will also include a bake sale and gift basket auction.  The money donated will be counted at the field and the total announced before the end of the game.   

Not everybody is called to adopt or be a foster parent but by supporting the Adoption Rocks Charity Fundraiser Game, we can all make a difference in the life of a child.  Thank you in advance for your participation!  

To order an Adoption Connection Charity Fundraiser Game t-shirt, click on the Handouts section of our website, and print the t-shirt order form. T-shirts are $10 each, and all proceeds are donated to Adoption Connection. (Cheerleaders will be asked to wear their t-shirt with their cheer skirt.  Girls not purchasing a shirt can wear a plain white tee.)

Orders are due by Tuesday, September 4th!  Orders can be submitted to your team mom or cheer sponsor.


Car Decals and Spirit Wear

Car decal orders are due on Friday, August 10th.  The form can be found on our website, under Handouts.  Decals are $9 each and are full color. 

Spirit wear orders are due on Tuesday, August 14th.  The form is also on our website, under Handouts.

Checks should be made payable to BTB.  You can submit orders to your team mom, cheer sponsor or at the Bear Cave. 


Picture Day

Picture Day is now scheduled for Thursday, August 9th at Dutch Ridge.  Order forms have been passed out.  If you've not received one, please see your team mom or cheer sponsor. Details are as follows....

TWO VERY IMPORTANT ITEMS: 

1.  Absolutely NO CLEATS can be worn into the school.  Please wear slides (or other shoes) and carry your cleats, until it is time for you to take your photo.  

2.  Parents will NOT be allowed beyond the curtain for photos.  Team Moms and Sponsors will be on the other side of the curtain to help the players and cheerleaders.  We understand that you want to make sure the photos are the best they can be, but it's important for us to stay on schedule.  We appreciate your cooperation.

Attire:

Football players should wear complete uniforms - game pants, game jerseys, shoulder pads, belts, black socks and cleats. Helmets are not needed. 

Cheerleaders should wear complete uniforms, including their gold midriff (black for midgets), white socks with green trim, cheer shoes and green sequin bow. 


BEAR CAMP

Monday, July 23rd is the first night of Bear Camp!  

Camp will be held Monday through Friday this week, and also on Monday, July 30th, from 6:00-8:00 pm each night.  (No camp on Saturday or Sunday.) 

Football players should wear light clothing for conditioning - t-shirts/tanks and shorts are appropriate.  Football cleats are preferred, but athletic shoes would work also for this week.

Please remember to bring a water bottle.  The concession stand will be open each night with a selection of refreshments (water, Gatorade, Pepsi products, iced teas), along with a limited food menu (soft pretzels and nachos) during camp week.  We also have candy and chips available for purchase.  (A full menu will be available beginning August 1st.)

Tuesday, July 31st is Picture Day.  More info will be coming on that

The first night of full-pad practice will be Wednesday, August 1st from 6:00-8:00 pm

Football practice will continue Monday through Friday each week from 6:00-8:00 pm each night through the end of August.

EQUIPMENT TURN-INS FROM LAST SEASON 

***PLEASE AVOID LEGAL ACTION***

For those football players and cheerleaders who still have equipment/uniforms from last season....

(Yes, we have you on a list!) 

All equipment MUST be turned into us no later than June 7th.

If you have equipment beyond that date, this matter will be turned over to your local magistrate for collection.   

Beginning this season, you will be billed for any equipment that is not turned in by the equipment turn-in date for your team/squad in October/November.  There will be no exceptions.  

We spend a lot of time fundraising so we can purchase the best equipment for our players and cheerleaders.  We appreciate your cooperation in returning all equipment you have not purchased.  We do not want to raise fees because of equipment not being turned in.

Registration:  Late registration and packet pickup will take place on Saturday, May 19th from 12:00-2:00 pm at Hardy Field Pavilion ***PICK UP AT HARDY FIELD HAS BEEN CANCELED. ALL RUNNER BAGS CAN BE PICKED UPBEFORE THE RACE*** and from 8:00-8:45 am on event day in Irvine Park

Walk/Run Start Time:  9:00 am

Entry Fee:  $20.00 if registered before 04/15/18; $25.00 after 04/15/18; $30.00 on event day

Running Awards:  Top overall male and female finisher and top three male and female finishers in each age group:  12 and under, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59 and 60+.  All runners registered by May 11th will receive an event t-shirt.

Electronic Timing:  Timing will be provided by Miles of Smiles Timing Services.  (Results will be posted on www.smileymiles.com.)

ImPACT Baseline Concussion Testing - offered by UPMC

UPMC offers free baseline concussion testing for children ages 10-14.  If you're interested in having your son or daughter's baseline test completed (which is recommended yearly for athletes age 10-14), please click the link below to register.  Testing is done locally, either at CCBC or at the Lemieux Complex in Cranberry.

The testing takes less than an hour, and the information is quite valuable should your son or daughter become concussed. The service is free for ages 10-14.

(NOTE: This testing does not evaluate your son/daughter for a concussion. It is a proactive testing that will be used as a baseline, should your son/daughter incur impact to his/her head during a sporting event.)

Developed by UPMC's concussion experts, the ImPACT and Pediatric ImPACT tools set a baseline for normal functioning brain activities.

 

They're the most effective tools for comparing a person's neurocognitive state before a concussion occurs.

 

The computer-based ImPACT and Pediatric ImPACT tests take about 25 minutes to complete.

 

They look at and record many aspects of an athlete’s neurocognitive state, such as:

 

    • Verbal and visual memory.
    • Brain processing speed.
    • Reaction time.

 

The ImPACT and Pediatric ImPACT tests alone do not diagnose a concussion.

 

Experts use these tools:

 

    • To get baseline data when a player is in a non-concussed or “normal” state.
    • As part of a complete assessment process to manage head injuries more accurately.

COACHES/SPONSORS' CLEARANCES FOR 2018

VERY IMPORTANT - MUST READ AND COMPLETE!!!

THIS APPLIES TO ALL FOOTBALL COACHES, ASSISTANT COACHES, CHEER SPONSORS, ASSISTANT SPONSORS AND ANY OTHER VOLUNTEER WHO WILL BE WORKING WITH OUR CHILDREN (regardless of age).

In October of 2014 Act 153 was passed by the PA State Legislature and signed into law by then Govenor Corbett.

As a result, the process for obtaining the clearances required to coach OR to be a volunteer working with children has changed. Please be advised that this is a statewide change pertaining to ALL volunteers who work with children. The BT Bears fully support these changes to protect our players and their families. However, we also understand the financial strain with the extra expenses. Please reach out to us if you are unable to financially cover this expense.

Please understand that if you do not have your clearances on file with the BT Bears board of directors, you will NOT be permitted to coach or sponsor.  There will be absolutely NO exceptions.  If you intend to coach or sponsor, please obtain your clearances as soon as possible.

These clearances must be secured for all volunteers as July 1, 2018.

1) Valid Criminal Background Check

If you have lived continuously in PA for the last 10 years, you must sign a sworn statement confirming you have not been convicted of any of the offenses listed in Act 153.  This document must be notarized.  (See "Handouts" section to print a copy of this form.)
