Hello Parents!

Please note that we will NOT have clinics on Monday due to the Labor Day Holiday. Stay safe, and STAY COOL – looks like it’s going to be a hot one! We’ll resume normal clinics on Tuesday.

Also, please note, we still have quite a few girls who have not gotten all the way through the athletic clearance. You daughters will not be able to participate in the clinics without this completed, and this will be have to be enforced as of 9/8, so please make this a priority to finish by Tuesday.

Thanks in advance!

Great First Week!

We are off to a great start! The Coaches reported that the clinics went well this week, the girls did a great job respecting the safety plan and everyone seemed happy to get back to it! We still have some outstanding Athletic Clearance forms. As a reminder, please make this a priority to get done before next week is out. Any girls that have not completed the Athletic Clearance will not be able to continue with clinics beginning 9/7.

Please note that the clinic for Monday 8/31 is cancelled for this upcoming week due to a coach conflict. Clinic will resume on Tuesday, 9/1.

Thank you!

Athletic Clearance

Hello Parents!

We’re off to a great start with conditioning. Coach Raul and Coach Cory are proud of how the girls are showing up, and everyone is operating under the guidelines for safety. Thank you to you and your athletes for sticking to the plan and following the protocols laid out.

The most critical thing we have left to take care of are those athletic clearances. These MUST be fully completed (by your personal doctor or thru the clinic that is listed in the link ( You have until Thursday of next week to get this done. Unfortunately, we will not be able to allow any athlete who has not completed this task to participate in the clinics as of 9/5 so please get it done!

The only other ask is to please make sure your daughter is bringing enough water. Looks like this heat wave is going to stick for a bit, so hydration is critical! Coach Raul is also asking that all athletes bring a towel to clinics.

That’s it! Any questions, please email us

Thank you!

Conditioning Camp Starts Monday, Aug. 24h

Dont Forget to Register For Conditioning Camp!

Hello Parents!
Just a reminder if your daughter is planning to attend clinics:
  1. Please make sure you print, review and bring the waiver that is posted on League Lineup ( A reminder, if your daughter has not turned this in, she will not be able to participate in the clinic. Also, please do not forget to register your daughter for the clinic so we have an accurate count on who will be attending. This is important for how we group the girls together.
  2. We are asking each participating student to donate $125. This donation is to offset the monies we pay to our coaches, Raul & Cory, to run these clinics. This is Not funded by the district, it is funded by our booster program, so donations are critical. If you are unable to contribute the requested amount, but would like to contribute a different amount, please do so, or email us
    1. You can pay by cash, check or venmo: @CapoGirls-Volleyball
  3. Please make sure your daughters bring plenty of water. It’s going to be hot out, and each athlete needs to bring their own water, we are not going to have a shared cooler or bottles due to safety measures.
  4. Please don’t forget to complete your Athletic Clearance. The online portion needs to be done by Monday, the visit with the clinic can be completed by EOW – they accept walk-ins, it’s pretty straightforward and doesn’t take too much time.
  5. Alicia Forrest (our Booster Treasurer) will be onsite to collect the waiver forms and any donations the girls may bring to the event.
Thanks so much! Looking forward to seeing those of you that can make it!

Important Information Regarding Waivers

We are looking forward to starting the conditioning camps next week. We have gotten a few questions

regarding safety planning for our athletes. We will be following all state mandated guidelines, and

before each practice will:

1. Conduct temp checks on arrival. We recognize it is warm outside, and this has temperature’s a

bit higher than normal. Please expect to sit in the shade for a few minutes to cool off. Coach

Raul & Coach Cory have been provided with a “no touch” thermometer and will check the girls

temperature prior to practice. Any athlete who has a fever will not be allowed to attend the

2. Our coaches will be asking Covid Question:

a. Within the last 10 days have you been diagnosed with Covid-19 or had a test confirming

you have the virus (if yes, they will not be allowed to participate

b. Do you live in the same household with, or have you had close contact with someone in

the past 14 days that has been in isolation for Covid-19 or had a test confirming they

have the virus (if yes, they will not be allowed to participate.

c. Have you had any of the following symptoms today or within the past 24 hours which is

new or not explained for another reason other than Covid-19?

i. Fever, Chills, or Repeated Shaking/Shivering, Cough, Sore Throat, Shortness of

Breath, Difficulty Breathing, Feeling Unusually Weak or Fatigued, Loss of Taste

or Smell, Muscle pain, Headache, Runny or congested nose, Diarrhea

3. All athletes will be kept the appropriate distance from each other (6ft). This will be strictly

enforced by the coaches.

4. We do not have our final sign up numbers yet, but if numbers exceed the ability to properly

social distance, the coaches will make that determination and split the girls into smaller groups,

which may reduce total conditioning time each day.

5. All athletes should arrive to practice with a mask, which they will be able to remove once the

clinic begins.

6. All athletes should plan to bring their own water, there will be no sharing or distribution of

water bottles, so please make sure they bring adequate hydration.

7. There is no lingering after practice. Please arrive promptly at 4:15 to pick up your athlete, or for

those with drivers, please instruct them to leave immediately following the clinic.

8. As shared previously, this is a conditioning clinic, so there will be no sharing of equipment (e.g.

Volleyballs), nor will there be any portion of the clinic held inside. We will be do doing all

activities on the Capo fields.

Finally, If you are NOT comfortable with your athlete attending these clinics, please do not feel that this

will in any way impact their opportunities at tryouts, it will NOT. Everyone is in a different spot, so if

these clinics aren’t for you, that is ok. If they decide to join at a later date, we can work with you to

include them at a later time, or look forward to seeing your athlete at tryouts.

Below is the Clinic Waiver. Please print, review carefully with your daughter and sign then bring to the

first day of camp. This MUST be filled out for your daughter to participate in the clinic, without

Conditioning Clinic Information

You should have received a communication from Coach Raul regarding the upcoming Volleyball

Conditioning Clinic. As he shared, this is not considered a class – we are treating it like summer

camp, so if your student requires PE credit, they will need to stay in that class for now. Once

tryouts are held, if your athlete makes a team, they will see a change on their class roster at

that time. There has been some confusion as some student may have incorrectly received

Volleyball on their schedule. I’m working to understand that with our Athletic Director and will

provide an update as soon as I can.

Conditioning is not a guarantee that any student will make a team. However, it is a good

opportunity to get to know the coaches and returning players, work on getting into shape for

the upcoming season, prepare for tryouts and make new friends! Conditioning is a critical part

of the volleyball program, and helps protect your athletes from injury, so we are happy to get

this started.

You are able to register for this clinic by visiting League Line-up and clicking on the link provided

(similar to summer camp registration)

You will note that there is a donation request as well. To enable this program, the Boosters

need to pay our coaches (since the season moved, this is not funded by the district), so we are

asking for a $125 donation be made should your daughter participate in the clinic. This is not

mandatory, but it is the only way we are able to fund our exceptional coaching talent during

this wonky time, so if you are able it is much appreciated, especially given how difficult

fundraising is during this time.

You also will need to go online to complete the Athletic Clearance form for your daughter. That

can be done at – please make sure you have the online portion

completed prior to the first day of the clinic – and that you’ve gotten your form signed off by

the end of the first week of clinics. It’s super simple, takes about 15 minutes to complete the

online portion and everything you need to know is in the link above.

Clinics will start on August 24 th , 2020. All girls who are signed up should meet in front of the

Volleyball gym to left of the main parking lot at 3:15 on Monday’s, Tuesday’s and Thursdays.

Coach Raul plans to run Thursday Clinics, and Cory (our Assistant Varsity and JV Coach) plans to

run the clinic on Mondays and Tuesdays. Girls should arrive in workout gear and tennis shoes.

The clinic will tie up each day by 4:15, so please plan rides accordingly.

Should you have any questions, or require additional information please don’t hesitate to reach

out to or call me directly at 714.235.8282.

Conditioning Clinic

I’d first like to start off by thanking you for your patience as we’ve navigated this

unprecedented time. I appreciate the notes and interest from so many of you who are waiting

for our season to start.

I received word this week that, while we are not able to start practice, we HAVE been approved

to begin conditioning. What this means is that players can meet with their coaches to

participate in a work out program that I’ve put together to prepare players for the upcoming

season. We will not be sharing equipment or playing volleyball, but we can run a clinic outdoors

in preparation for the upcoming season, which is anticipated to start December 19 th . It is still

unclear when we can hold tryouts. We are anticipating this will happen in October or

November, so we’ll keep you posted on that.

We will run a voluntary conditioning clinic after school, 3 days a week. Our plan is to meet at

Capistrano Valley High School on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday beginning on August 24 th and

running through tryouts (TBD, anticipated in Oct/Nov). Conditioning will start at 3:15 Mon,

Tues, Thurs, and end at 4:15 each day. All girls are welcome – Freshman who hope to join the

team, along with returning players.

Since this is not during normal school hours, we will be treating this as a summer camp. This

means that your girls will not have Volleyball listed on their class roster – if they are signed up

for PE, they will need to keep that for now. Once we are able to hold tryouts, and if your athlete

makes a team, they will transition out of PE and into Volleyball at that time.

Vida Roozen, our Booster President, will provide detail on how your athlete can sign up for the

conditioning program, along with donation details and other important information if you are

interested in participating.

I look forward to seeing our returning players, and meeting our new hopeful players in the

Freshman class. That’s it for now. Stay safe and healthy. Hope all of your students had a great

start to the new school year.

Thank you,

A note from Coach Raul

Hello Parents and Players,
I hope you are all doing well and keeping safe.
As you know, our volleyball camps have been postponed. I am hoping to have information soon as to when we will be running camps and tryouts. As many have likely heard, the California Department of Public Health is going to allow limited programming for youth sports. What this basically boils down to is that we will be able to do conditioning programs (no actual practice or shared equipment), outdoors only. We are working through the logistics of this now, and assuming permission holds, will be looking to start this once school is back in session.
The official start of the volleyball season has been moved to December 19th, playing most of our league games during the month of February and finishing in March. For our incoming Freshman, you will start with PE - we cannot move anyone onto Volleyball teams until tryouts - assuming your athlete makes the team, their schedules will be updated at that time. If you want to keep active and playing volleyball, there are many volleyball clubs in Orange County, running clinics and pre-tryout practices(club season is set to start in October).
For returning players who plan to continue with Capo Volleyball, we will be sending out an update on the conditioning plans as soon as they are in place. We appreciate your continued patience.
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions. You can also contact Vida Roozen, our volleyball booster president, at
I hope to see you all soon.
