CCHS Track & Field Launches Teens in the Driver Seat Program

February 1, 2019

Beginning in 2019, the CCHS Track & Field Team is part of a national program called Teens in the Driver Seat. Teens in the Driver Seat® (TDS) is a peer-to-peer safety program targeting middle and high schoolers. Car crashes kill more young people than any other cause, accounting for nearly half of all teen deaths in America each year.  About 2,800 U.S. teens die each year in car crashes; and if you recall, we just lost 6 young people in Metro Atlanta recently.  TDS raises awareness about the most common causes of teen driving crashes. Combined with a lack of driving experience, the top five dangers are:

  1. Driving at night
  2. Speeding and street racing
  3. Distractions, such as cell phones/texting and too many teen passengers
  4. Low seat belt use
  5. Alcohol and drug use

CCHS Track & Field is very excited to join the Teens in the Driver Seat Program and champion teen driver safety awareness.

High School Pledge

I make this pledge, both bold and brave, so someone’s life I will help to save. Watch my speed, stay awake and know the difference a drink can make. Buckle up and avoid distractions – like texting, cell phones – such deadly actions. Golden rules, simply five, strive to keep our drive alive.
