NEW THIS YEAR: WE ARE NOW A 43+ MENS SOFTBALL LEAGUE

ALL PLAYERS WILL BE PICKED IN A SNAKE DRAFT

ATTENTION COACHES: PLAYER DRAFT WILL BE ON JANUARY 11th, 2026 AT ICEHOUSE PUB AT 1:00 PM. ALL COACHES MUST BE IN ATTENDANCE!

SEASON START ON JANUARY 20TH.

LEAGUE FEE THIS YEAR WILL BE $100.00 FOR GAMES PLUS PLAYOFFS. EXTRA TEAM SHIRT IS $20.00. 

ALSO A 2ND UMPIRE WILL ONLY BE USED FROM A SMALL POOL. BOARD MEMBER OR COACH WILL BE ASKED TO UMPIRE. AS OF NOW, WE ONLY HAVE 1 UMPIRE AND THE 2ND UMPIRE WILL BE UTILIZED FROM THE PLAYERS (not all players, unless its an emergency basis) OR BOARD.

Games will be played on Tuesdays and Thursday Nights! 

Game times are 6:30 pm and 7:45 pm starting on January 20th, 2026

Batting Practice starts @ 5:30 PM

For the Winter 2025 season, we will be looking to add 2 new board members. If only 2 players are interested in being a board member, no voting will be required by league players, if there are 3 or more individuals interested in being a board member, then there will be a vote by the players. We as the board will have to approve the additions.

Punta Gorda Men's +45 Softball League

Mission Statement

I. We are an organization focusing on competitive gameplay, with a recreational atmosphere.

III. We are dedicated to providing a non-judgemental, sportmanship based, teamwork oriented experience.

IV. We are a respect and good behavior league and we will make every attempt to keep camraderie over competitiveness at the forefront.

WE ARE NOW A 43+ MENS SOFTBALL LEAGUE (if you know of any players 43 and older who would like to play contact Kevin LaPointe)

Rule clarifications,

1. All players will have the opportunity to use senior bats.
2. 5 runs maximum per inning, 7th inning will be unlimited
3. Extra innings will now be unlimited runs scored. No maximum.
4. Start extra innings with a full count, no courtesy pitches. Swing or don't swing.
5. Rabbit runner will not change. Player must stop at first base and may NOT make the turn.

For coaches, FOR REGULAR SEASON you can pick up a sub at any position for the top 16 players (4 rounds), after the top 16 players you can pick up any player at the 5th round and below. Example your 3 round pick is out, you can get any of the top 16 players (4 rounds). Another example: your 8th round player is out, you can grab from 5th round and below. ALL SUBS MUST BAT AT THE BOTTOM OF THE ORDER. FOR THE PLAYOFFS, IF YOU CANNOT FIELD 10 PLAYERS AND NEED A SUB, IT WILL BE ROUND FOR ROUND OR BELOW, EXAMPLE YOUR 1ST RD IS OUT YOU CAN GET A 1ST RND OR BELOW, IF YOUR 3RD RND IS OUT YOU CAN GET A 3RD RND OR BELOW, 5TH RND IS OUT, YOU CAN GET A 5TH ROUND OR BELOW. IT WILL BE ROUND FOR ROUND OR BELOW. THIS YEAR WE ENCOURAGE THAT ALL COACHES USE THE TEAM WHO BROUGHT YOU THERE. SUBS FOR PLAYOFF PLAY SHOULD BE MINIMAL AND AS CLOSE TO THE TEAM YOU PICKED AS POSSIBLE. NO SUBS WILL BE ALLOWED IF YOU CAN FIELD 10 PLAYERS.

New gameplay and playoff format this season. Every team this year will play 1 "away" Doubleheader in Cape Coral. Also every Cape Coral team will be playing one doubleheader in Punta Gorda. 

Time constraints maybe used if games last to long.

New rules for winter 2026:

5 runs per inning, 7th inning open.

Hitters have been extended from the 4th to the 5th inning. A coach has the option of walking a player in the 6th inning and beyond.

Lights Due on at 5:30 pm out at 10:00pm.

Playoff Format will be 1st place plays 4th place, 2nd place plays 3rd place. Winners play each other for championship. If there is a 5th place team they do not make the playoffs.
