TRYOUT FAQ
There have been some questions raised since our pre-tryout meeting last Friday. We want to make sure that everyone has accurate information before tryouts begin on Friday. Please remember that if your cheerleader attends try-outs and makes a squad on Friday night, choosing to not participate for the 2019 season, may affect future years of CYC membership.
-
What is the cost for the 2019 season?
-
The cost for the 2019 season is: $550 for Mighty Mites / $650 for Pee Wees, Juniors & Seniors. This cost is for everything through Tri-Counties Championship (Jamz) in November. Tri-County championship fees are included.
-
If my cheerleader makes a squad, when is my first payment due, and how much is it?
-
Your first deposit will be due in the week following tryouts (date to be determined). It is $100 per cheerleader. For siblings: $150 for 2 cheerleaders, $200 for 3 cheerleaders, etc. (Cheerleaders must live in the same home to qualify as siblings).
-
When are practices and games?
-
Practices generally begin in July. Football season begins mid-August and runs through November. Cheerleaders may practice up to 6 hours per week. Games are always on Saturday and include travel on some weekends.
-
How many cheerleaders are on each squad?
-
Each squad can keep up to 24 cheerleaders. However, based on scores, tryout clinic behavior and attitude, squads may have fewer than 24 cheerleaders.
-
How can parents help during the season?
-
Each family will be asked to help with: At least 1 snow cone sales session during a home game (2 hours); One CYC fundraising event (Cinco de Mayo @ Skilled Nursing Facility, parade float, 8th grade night, etc.); Snacks for home or away cheerleaders during the season.
-
Can my cheerleader participate in other sports during the Fall season?
-
Yes, cheerleaders may participate in other sports for their school during the season. There is an additional cheer contract to sign. Participating in another sport with a conflicting schedule may result in reduced role on the CYC squad.
-
What does my cheerleader need for tryouts?
-
Cheerleaders will be judged on their appearance (appropriate attire, facials, posture); Arms and angles during cheer and dance (sharpness, hands/arms/legs in correct positions during the routine); Voice projection (how loud and sharp their voice is during the cheer), Spirit (Enthusiasm and motivation), and overall performance of routine.
-
Cheerleaders are advised to wear shorts with a tank top or tee and a high ponytail on tryout day.
If you have other questions, please ask a board member or advisor!
