2026-2027 Handbook

(Please read in it's entirety)

We are an AAU (Amateur Athletic Union) competitive cheerleading organization for children ages 5 - 18. We welcome all children regardless of their ability, their experience level, or where they live.  We have experienced coaches who are adept in teaching the fundamentals of cheer in a safe and fun environment. Our season will run from the beginning of September through mid-March.

OUR MISSION STATEMENT

It is our mission to provide a fun, safe, and healthy cheer environment for our cheerleaders. Our goal is to help our cheerleaders develop into strong, self-confident individuals, who understand the value of hard-work, dedication, and teamwork. We want to foster a love of the sport of cheer by teaching our cheerleaders the fundamentals of a very demanding sport, while still having fun.

TEAM BONDING

Delco Storm Cheer believes that at this level, athletes must have fun above all else.

Bringing teammates together through bonding activities encourages collaboration and connections. By providing athletes many opportunities to connect with one another outside of practice, they see one another in a different light. These connections help build genuine friendships that can help establish a team identity, ensure everyone contributes, and make athletes comfortable enough to communicate their thoughts and feelings, which we believe is extremely important.

ATTENDANCE POLICY

Cheerleading is a very unique sport in that the absence of one cheerleader affects the entire squad.  Once the routine is choreographed in the beginning of the season, it is very difficult and time-consuming to change. Due to this, it is extremely important that the commitment to competitive cheerleading is fully understood.  Absences from practice must be kept to a minimum, and practice should only be missed due to unavoidable circumstances, mandatory school events,  or illness.  It is extremely difficult to balance other activities and sports with cheerleading, and due to the nature of our sport, cheerleading needs to be your top priority.

If your child commits to Delco Storm Cheer, we must stress that they are expected to be fully present at practices, competitions, and team bonding events.

FUNDRAISING

There are many added costs each season that are not included in our registration fees. In order to keep our organization running, fundraisers are necessary.

TWO MANDATORY FUNDRAISERS

Beef and Beer Event

In addition to these fundraisers, there will be several smaller *fundraisers throughout the season.  All money raised will go directly towards specific needs of the organization and cheerleaders. Fundraising is an extremely important part of our organization and we value 100% participation in all fundraisers.

*Fundraising dollars go toward helping to pay for many things such as: AAU memberships, AAU team membership fee, insurance, USA Cheer Memberships and training for our coaches, annual bows, pom poms, signs, team banner, competition fees for each competition that we attend, facility rental fees at both Roosevelt and Kedron, practice t-shirts, choreography, music and team clinics, the holiday party for 4 teams, team/coach bonding activities, housing and meals for coaches at Nationals, the team banquet, Nationals gifts for the girls, end of season trophies/gifts, Team Snap, website fees, storage fees, first aid and other assorted supplies, and other expenses.
