DIAMONDS DEFEAT MORRIS 40-26

FINISH THE REGULAR SEASON 7-1

The Diamonds went into Robert Morris for their final regular season game and left with a dominating 14 point victory. It was a total team effort. Every member of the team played and contributed to the victory in some way.

The team continued their intense defense from the Amy game which caused numerous turnovers in the first quarter. Morris did not have an answer for the Diamonds and found themselves trailing by 9 at the end of the first quarter.

Syheed was the team's leading scorer in the game finishing with 13 points. He continued his hot shooting from the Amy game. He went 3 for 4 in 3 pointers. Syheed also shot 50% from the field for the 2nd game in a row. His defensive pressure again helped to set the tone.

Tyshyd again provided a little bit of everything when he came into the game. He finished with 4 points on 2 for 2 shooting.

Tysheem Johnson's defense caused all sorts of trouble for Morris. Their guards were left confused and wondering how they could stop Tysheem on the defensive end of the floor. Tysheem had 7 steals which led to 10 points for Duckrey. He also contributed 6 points to the victory.

Zahir again dominated the defensive end of the floor. He refused to let Morris' guards to do anything with the ball in the first half of the game. No matter what they did, Zahir was in their face and right up on them. Morris did not have an answer for Zahir all game long.

Offensively, Zahir continued to control the game, distribute the ball, and get his teammates involved. He once again shot 50% from the floor and ended the game with 5 points.

Kahsir Palmer saw his first significant playing time of the season and played a strong game. He made his impact on the defensive end of the floor ending with 3 rebounds and 1 block.

Shaeef had another good game. He has become more comfortable on the court the last 3 games. As a result, Shaeef is making an impact on both ends of the floor. Against Morris, Shaeef had 4 points, 2 steals and 1 assist. He also led the team in rebounding with 8.

Antonio got his 2nd start of the season and played his best game. He grabbed 3 rebounds. His only offensive rebound led to his 2 points. Antonio also handed out 2 assists and had 1 steal. Antonio's growth has been tremendous the last 3 weeks. The team is looking for him to contribute a lot more during the tournament season this spring.

Keith, Jasir and Nazeer all contributed in their own way. Nazeer grabbed 3 rebounds, scored 2 points and had 1 steal. Jasir and Keith both made an impact on the defensive end of the floor.

It was a great effort and win to end the regular season. It was a great overall team effort. The Diamonds are now awaiting word on the playoffs and will continue to practice for not only the playoffs, but also their Spring tournaments which will be starting soon.

DIAMONDS IMPROVE TO 6-1
DEFEAT AMY @ JAMES MARTIN 42-30 IN THEIR FINAL HOME GAME OF THE SEASON

The Diamonds saved their best game for the final home game of the season. Playing inspired defense the team jumped on Amy from the opening tip. They never let up on Amy causing them to become frustrated which took them out of the game.

Shaeef played his best overall game of the season. He grabbed a season high 10 rebounds. He also scored 6 points to help the Diamonds maintain their lead. His 2 best plays were his blocks, one of which he ran down from behind to swat the ball away. It was this block that brought the home crowd to their feet.

Tysheem found his shot during the Amy game hitting 5 for 5 of his jump shots. He also handed out 4 assists. His one assist was a 3/4 court lazer of a baseball pass to Syheed who sank the 15 foot jump shot. In the 4th quarter, Tysheem helped to slow the game down and run the clock to help preserve the victory.

Tyshyd came off the bench to get a timely rebound and assisted on one of Tysheem's shots. But more importantly. Tyshyd brought an aggressiveness to the game at both ends of the floor.

Nahiem started the game slowly, but by the 3rd quarter Amy had no answer for him on the boards. He grabbed a team high 16 rebounds for the game. His defense was strong on the inside. Between his 10 defensive rebounds and his 3 blocks, Amy could not get past him on the inside.

Syheed's defense was once again a difference maker for the team. Between him and Zahir on the right side of the court, Amy could not handle their aggressiveness which led to numerous turnovers. Syheed's offense was on point. He shot 50% from the field and hit both of his free throws ending the game tied for the team high with 10 points.

Antonio came off the bench to give the team some strong defense. He quietly went about his business and contributed in any way he could. Despite not scoring, Antonio was able to get a timely steal which lead to an easy bucket for Syheed at the other end of the floor.

Zahir had another overall great game. Offensively, he scored 4 points, but assisted on 4 of his teammates baskets. More importantly, he helped to control the pace of the game and get his teammates involved.

The final home game of the season was the best defensive game of the season. Every player that stepped onto the court kept up the intensity and never let up. Amy did not know what to do. The Diamonds seemed to be everywhere.

The Diamonds are hoping for a repeat of this effort in their final regular season game of the season when they travel to Robert Morris on Wednesday.
