We are approaching our freestyle/greco season quickly! This is the Olympic styles of wrestling. The rules are a little different, but the basics are about the same. Younger (and older kids) adjust quickly.
Just like the scoring, this season is a quicker paced. We only run from the beginning of March to the beginning of May. Practices are Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:00pm-8:00pm. We have found that our younger/new wrestlers are good from 6:00pm to 7:00pm and our more advanced/older wrestlers can go the two hours. Coach Caleb Schlack (FHS Head Wrestling Coach) will explain and let you know if your wrestler is ready for the second hour the first week of practice.
Registration is now open. You must register with the Force (on this website) even if you did Folksyle this winter. The fee is $50.
You must also have the full athlete USA Card. This is purchased at www.themat.com. If you have the limited $15 card you only need to pay the $30 to upgrade. This is a requirement to be on the mat for all wrestlers.
If you are interested in coaching (and we can always use more coaches!) please fill out the coaching application that is on the right hand side of this page. A coach's card along with a background check and a SafeSport Certification are required for all coaches. There are no exceptions. This is for the safety of all our athletes.
For tournaments, wrestlers need a red and a blue singlet. We have a few we can loan out. However with how short the season is, we will not get a team order back in time. If you wrestler is in need of a singlet, please contact us and we will see what we can do for your wrestler.
We do have a bin of shoes that your wrestler can go through and borrow for the season for $10. If you have old pairs of wrestling shoes that you would like to donate, please consider donating them. This is the same for singlets too!
