Post-Season baseball comes to an end for Varsity after game at Shen
May 23rd: Guilderland gets knocked out of quarterfinals as Shen comes back with walk-off win: Guilderland Dutchmen Varsity fell to Shen 7-6 on Wednesday on the final play of the game. The game was tied at six with Shen batting in the bottom of the seventh when a solo homer ended the game. For full game report and season stats click here

May 23rd: Guilderland JV defeated Niskyuana 6 to 0 to end the season: Away for their season ender Guilderland went up early in the first with a lead-off Double by Campbell, a steal to third and a hit 'n run executed by Aitken. In the second inning, speedster S. Dillion walked and within 3 pitches he stood upright on third base waiting for Mitchell to bunt him home. Again in the third a hit by Hosey and a walk by Tietjen allowed Dawson Aitken to bring in his 2nd & 3rd RBI for the day. He then later scored on a single by M. Dillion. And finally, in the 4th inning, back to back singles by Campbell and Hosey and another later by Aitken (4 RBI's total) scored Campbell leaving the score at 6 for the game. Defensively Sheridan Dillion threw confident and powerful through 5 innings giving up only 2 hits and 0 walks. To close Coach brought in Devin Campbell to continue Sheridan's dominance on the mound (1 Hit / 0 walks) to finish the game shutting out Nisky. After their final win Guilderland JV finished 15 and 2 to close out an amazing 2018 season...

May 21st: Guilderland Flying Dutchmen Modified walk off in 10th Inning on a Wild Pitch For Victory Over CBA: Guilderland Modified won a back and forth game with an extra innings walk off win in the 10th inning on a wild pitch. CBA took the lead with a run in the top of the first but Guilderland answered right back with 3 runs in the bottom half of the inning all with 2 outs. A single by Micah Vennard followed by a fielders choice by Colin Lynch set up the first 2 runs when Zack Swint hit a double followed by Evan Schrivogl with another RBI single. A wild pitch scored Swint from third to give the Dutch a 3-1 lead after one. The score remained 3-1 until the fifth when Liam Teague hit a single and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Micah Vennard hit a fly ball single to score Teague from second giving the Dutchmen a 4-1 lead after 5 innings. CBA was able to score 2 runs in the top of the sixth, but the Dutchmen got one run back on an RBI goundout by Derek Griffin scoring Joe Ciccarelli. CBA scored 2 more runs in the top of the seventh to tie the game up at five. It would take extra innings to decide the contest. The game was knotted at 5 until the top of the ninth inning when CBA was able to score 2 runs to take a 7-5 lead. But the Dutchmen wouldn’t go away. Three consecutive walks by Ciccarelli, Cole Traudt and Derek Griffin lead off the inning. Will Baumann hit a hard ground ball to the shortstop who overthrew first allowing Ciccarelli and Traudt to score tying the game back up at 7. The Dutchmen held CBA scoreless in the top of the tenth. In the bottom of the tenth, Colin Lynch hit a single to center to start off the Dutchmen. Brendan Curry and Evan Schreivogl worked consecutive walks to load the bases. With Ciccarelli at the plate, The CBA pitcher threw a wild pitch which scored Lynch with the winning run to cap off a great battle. Evan Schreivogl was the winning pitcher for Guilderland. He surrendered two runs on one hit over the final two innings, striking out four and walking one. Sam Shah started the game going 4 innings allowing one run and striking out 3. Will Baumann and Andrew Singleton each pitched 2 innings of relief.
May 17th: Guilderland Modified Can't Hold Up Against Colonie HS. It was a tough day for The Guilderland Dutchmen Modified squad, who lost 8-0 to Colonie High School Modified. The Dutch were only able to collect 4 hits all game. Sam Shah had a single in the first and Liam Teague had a single in the second. The only other hits came in the fourth, a sinble by Evan Schreivogl and a sinble in the fifth by Micah Vennard. Colin Lynch started the game for Guilderland. He went three and a third innings, allowing three runs on two hits and striking out six. Zack Swint and Matt Wilkes entered the game as relief, throwing one and two-thirds innings and one inning respectively.

First fundraiser of the season a big success!
Thank you very much for joining us for our annual fundraiser "DINE-2-DONATE" on Tuesday evening at the Recovery Sports Grill located in the Guilderland '20-Mall'. Your participation will help to provide the funds required to even further improve the playing environment for our teams and making the GHS Varsity baseball field one of the premier HS baseball locations in Suburban Council.
