Gander Players among 2021 Hopefuls

Congratulations to Gander Minor Baseball`s Cole Troke and Evan Whyte, who have been selected along with 34 other players from across the province to participate in the first year of the three-year 2021 Canada Games NL Baseball Identification Program.

Work towards the 2021 Games has already begun for Cole and Evan as they have started regular weekly indoor training sessions with 2021 Canada Games assistant coach Kevin Higgins. In April, Cole and Evan will attend a two-day training session in St. John`s with the other players in the 2021 Canada Games NL Baseball Identification Program. Following this training session, the 36 players will be divided into two teams for a trip to Ontario to participate in a tournament as well as play several exhibition games in May. Evaluations from the initial fall tryout, winter training sessions, spring training session and tournament/exhibition play in Ontario will be used to select 18 players to represent Newfoundland and Labrador at the 2019 15U Baseball Canada Nationals in Oshawa in August.

The 2021 Canada Games NL Baseball Program has organized a ticket draw on a quad, snowmobile and snowmobile trailer package worth over $32,000 to help offset the costs for each player involved. Tickets are only $10 each. Please see the attached poster for more details, or you may contact Kevin at for ticket purchase information.

Please consider supporting this group of young athletes as they start their journey on the Road to the Games.

A raffle draw from Baseball NL to support the 2021 Canada Games team.
