Player Eligibility During Playoffs

Effective at the start of divisional playoffs, only properly rostered players are eligible to participate.
No roster additions, substitutions, or exceptions will be permitted once playoff play begins.

The use of any non-registered player will result in an automatic 5–0 forfeit, without exception.

If a team anticipates difficulty icing a full roster, the team captain must notify the opposing captain and a league executive well in advance of the scheduled game. Approval must be obtained from all parties prior to puck drop. The intent is not to prohibit flexibility, but to ensure transparency and fairness. Failure to communicate may result in a default.

Player Safety, Infractions & Discipline

The league has adopted an increased enforcement standard regarding:

  • Stick infractions, intentional body contact, plays resulting in player injuries and abuse of officials

  • Repeat offenders. The league has adopted heightened disciplinary enforcement for players and teams identified as repeat offenders. These measures are designed to correct behaviour patterns and reinforce accountability at both the individual and team level

GMHL will use LiveBarn for disciplinary review purposes. LiveBarn may be used to review:

  • Double minor penalties, major penalties, match penalties and incidents involving player injury

Any injury resulting from a reckless or non-hockey play will be taken seriously. Players are expected to inform their captain immediately. The league maintains zero tolerance for dangerous or reckless behaviour.

Multiple-Team Participation (“Scott Sedore Rule”)

Players are not permitted to play for more than one team in the league simultaneously unless explicit approval is granted by the opposing team’s captain prior to the game.

Violation of this rule will result in:

  • One-game suspension for the offending player

  • Loss recorded for the offending team
