MASTERS DIVISION INQUIRIES

Golden Blades Women's Hockey League has been in operation for over 20 years and has successfully operated annually with more than 25 teams playing competitively in an open age structure across AA, A, BB, B, C skill levels. A lot of our member's started their hockey careers more than 20 years ago, and have seen themselves and their teams move through the various OWHA divisions as they age. Former AA moved to A moved to B moved to C.

There has been loose talk of a Masters Division for a few years. We currently feel the time is right to move ahead with the creation of a Master's Division under the banner of Golden Blades Women's Hockey League. With the support of some current teams in T3 who have an average roster age over 40, we know we have a critical mass of 40 + year old competitive players within the league who want to continue competing with skilled and similar age level players. We also believe there are other players across the city seeking the same opportunity. As such, we feel we can create and operate a thriving Masters Division for the female pioneers of the game so they can continue playing competitively into and beyond their silver years. There are no other competitive women's hockey leagues operating across the GTA with a Masters Division, so now is the time to create one as a perfect complement for the existing tiers within Golden Blades Women's Hockey League.

With that said, we would like your help in spreading the word to anyone you think may be interested. They may be currently playing or possibly have hung up the skates for several years and want to get back into the game, so let's give them somewhere safe to play. Individual and/or team inquiries are welcomed.

All inquiries for the Masters Division can be directed to Karen Rooney karenrooney@sympatico.ca for more information.
