Initial invitations were sent in May and will be resent in June. If additional opportunities to participate arise, they will be communicated from the captains.
TRYOUTS
Tryouts start August 18th. In order to tryout, you must have the following:
Impact Test: Impact testing (mandatory concussion testing) is required for all incoming Freshmen, all rising Juniors, and any new student athletes who would like to participate in a fall sport. Testing will take place in the High School Language Lab and must be completed prior to the start of tryouts. Additional details on offered testing dates will be communicated by the Athletic Department over the summer. Any questions should be directed to Maryellen Holler.
Valid Physical: All students, regardless of grade level, must have a valid physical completed within the last 13 months on file with the Athletic Department, prior to the start of tryouts.
Athletic Registration: Registration for fall sports will open in August through Aspen. An athletic user fee will be due at the time of registration. Registration must be completed to be eligible for tryouts.
All students interested in playing soccer in the fall must meet the three requirements noted above and must be at the first day of tryouts. It is possible that an exception will be granted for incoming freshmen if the number of athletes registered does not exceed the maximum team size; however, any conflicts should be communicated as soon as possible and roster spots are not guaranteed.
Tryout Format: Tryouts will be held for two weeks from Monday, August 18th through Saturday, August 23rd (Week 1), and Monday, August 25th through Friday, August 29th (Week 2).
- You must be present during tryouts to be considered for a team
- Tryouts will consist of a Yo-Yo Intermittent Recovery Test and “on the field” evaluations in game situations
- August 23 (end of week 1) will be a scrimmage in Nauset for all players still in consideration for the varsity team at that point.
- Week 2 will likely include a number of scrimmages for all three teams, dates TBA
- Saturday, August 30th will be the preseason Jamboree at HHS for the Varsity and JV teams, followed by a lunch for players and families from all three teams

BOOSTER FUNDING
Booster funding helps to defray team expenses not covered by the High School. There are a few different fundraising activities throughout the season, including Hingham Youth Soccer field striping, a car wash, and a bottle/can drive. However, Booster dues are the primary source of funds for the program, and support players in many ways, including the following:
- Practice shirts and other supplemental uniform needs
- Jamboree costs, including referee fees and lunch for all players and families
- Digital photography costs, including in-game, team and individual photos for all players
- Year-end program book (supplementing business and player advertisements at an additional cost)
- Some/all year-end program banquet costs
- Year-end player and coaches gifts
- Other miscellaneous program and equipment needs
While booster dues are not required, we strongly encourage each family to support the Boosters by making an annual contribution. Dues level will be set over the summer and announced at the fall meeting. Dues payment is not requested until players earn a spot on the team.
PROGRAM COMMUNICATION
Most communication will be distributed from the Booster Parents by email through the LeagueLineup platform
- Note, your email address is already on file if you have/are receiving email communication from hhsboyssoccer@llmail.net
- You may remove your email address by Replying or Unsubscribing directly from any Booster email communication
- If we are missing your email address, you can also Submit your information through the Subscribe to our Newsletter link, and we will add your email address(es) to all relevant Team Mailing Lists
- Important email communication will also be (re)posted under the “News” and "News Archive" Sections of the “Welcome” page
- Upcoming Events and Deadlines, a program Calendar, Team Rosters and Schedules, Field information, Handouts, and important Links will also be regularly posted
- Captains will be communicating timely information with players such as Summer Pickup logistics using Facebook and Instagram Accounts
We also encourage all players to self-advocate and contact the Varsity Captains directly with any questions or concerns. Captains for the 2025 season are Spencer Coppola, Jack Monroe and Ryan Murtagh. You can currently contact them through the website, and we will make their cell numbers available soon.
As an additional note on communication, please understand that there cannot be any direct 1:1 communication from only one player to only one coach. Via text or email, if a player needs to contact a coach, they must copy another person on the message. This can be another coach, another player, the captains, or a parent.
VOLUNTEERS
Parent and player volunteers are needed to help make the season as successful as possible. We have a listing of open Volunteer opportunities and will be reaching-out with requests for specific needs throughout the season. Please also feel free to contact a Booster Parent if you are interested in volunteering.
Union Point Waiver (please check Union Point Sports Program at bottom):
Union Point Schedule. We have asked for the 8/3 game to be changed due to the conflict for those attending Good to Great camp.
