HOOPS FOR FUN - Stratford House League Basketball

COVID-19 2020-2021 SEASON UPDATE:

Stratford Basketball is working behind the scenes to determine whether or not it will be possible to run competitive and/or recreational basketball programs for the 2020-2021 season.  At present due to COVID 19 restrictions, our Board is considering several issues, among them limited access to basketball facilities as well as safety protocols. Our goal is to have a basketball season but the health and welfare of our players, coaches, volunteers, supporters is our priority. It is our intention to have a preliminary plan in place later this month. In the meantime, check our website and social media feeds for updated information. Stay safe and healthy.

The outdoor court project (beside the Stratford YMCA) is now complete! All COVID-19 protocols for outdoor recreational facilities apply(https://www.stratford.ca/en/live-here/covid-19-impact-to-city-facilities-and-services.aspx#Parks-and-Recreational-Amenities-and-Facilities). Enjoy!

Hoops for fun is a youth basketball program created to develop fundamental skills and a love of the game of basketball. Players will maximize their potential though age appropriate skill development and game play.

The Hoops for Fun program: is offered to girls and boys from Grade 1 - 12. Each year we strive to accommodate separate divisions for boys and girls but depending upon registration divisions may be co-ed.

During the first 3 weeks of the Hoops for Fun program, players are evaluated by coaches at skills clinics to determine teams of equal skill level. In the 4th week, game play begins. Prior to each game 20 minutes is allotted for skill development followed by game play for approximately 40 minutes including a halftime break.

Program cost: is $90/player, with an additional $20 fee for out of town players. Registrations received after October 1 will be subject to a $40 late fee.

The 2020/21 season begins Wednesday November 4, 2020 and ends Wednesday, March 10, 2021.
