September 2019 Membership Letter

 PLEASE READ BELOW CAREFULLY:

Last year, as a Membership, we decided to address our By-Laws to change the amount of meetings needed that a member has to attend during the year from 5 to 4 meetings.  I find it necessary to reiterate this email message.  I can not overemphasize the importance your responsibility to attend meetings as required.

Through out the years, we have some members that go to every meeting and some members that barely make one meeting.  This is not fair to the members that do the right thing.  Moving forward, if you do not make the first two meetings of the year (which are mandatory) you will NOT get a Section XI schedule.  One is the Interpretation meeting and the other is the test meeting.  If you can not attend our interpretation meeting you can attend Eastern Suffolk, Nassau, Queens, etc.  There are plenty of opportunities to get this done.  Calling Bobby or going to his class to receive the interpretation will NOT count anymore.

If meetings after the schedules are released are not attended (to make the minimum attendance requirement) you will be put on probation and need to address the board in order to be put back in good standing for the following year.

We understand that unfortunate situations occur, but please address these with me ahead of time.  We are sending these dates out to you well in advance so that you can work your schedules moving forward around these dates.  Of course, if you get assigned Section XI games the night of a meeting I will know that you are assigned and you will be excused.  Going to officiate CYO games or other outside league assignments will not be acceptable.

ONLY non-mandatory meetings can be replaced by attending one of Bobby’s classes for new candidates.  See schedule below:

Attending meetings with your fellow members and staying involved with what’s going on in your local board is one of the few activities that you need to adhere too and quite honestly should want to do.  This will make our membership a better membership.  You can refer to our website for our meeting dates and the dates of our neighboring board's Interpretation meetings.

IMPORTANT - Section XI Winter Availability:

All Section XI Winter availability for the 2019/2020 boys basketball season is now open.  The deadline to submit your Varsity and JV availability is October 1st.  Please block out any dates that you are not available on your calendar.  Please update your calendar to reflect available times for school vacation week games (ex: Christmas break 12/23-1/3, and winter recess 2/17-2/21).
