DIVISIONS / PLAYER SELECTION

Age divisions are 7-8 year olds, 9-10 year olds, 11-12 year olds and 13-14 year olds. The age is determined by the player’s age as on January 1st of the season year.  This age is set by the league sanctioning organization.  Players within each division will be evaluated in areas of throwing, catching, hitting, running, and various agility measures in order to group them comparably for team assignments.  Team assignments will be completed by mid-March. Players will be contacted by coaches selected by the HJRSB Board of Directors.

COACHES SELECTION

Volunteer coaches will be selected per review of candidates by the HJRSB Board of Directors.  Anyone interested in coaching should note such on the Player Registration form and by submitting a Coaching Application.  Coaching applications are available on our website at http://www.leaguelineup.com/jrramssoftball. Additionally, coaches are expected to sign a “Coaches Creed” that outlines expectations of the organization.  Prospective coaches MUST attend HJRSB coaching fundamentals and team development training. There will be a Coach’s Clinic on Friday, April 20 to watch and learn the Varsity practice from 3-5.

PRACTICES

Tentatively, outdoor practices will begin in mid April.  Players and coaches should expect to practice twice a week prior to the end of May start of the Mason league season.   Once the season begins, teams may practice once a week, depending on field availability.

LEAGUE AND TOURNAMENT PLAY

Jr. Ram’s U12 and U14 teams will play a 16 game League season, with approximately four (4) double header games in Holt and four (4) double header games in neighboring mid-Michigan communities. Games will have a 5:30 pm start time. U8 & U10 teams will play a 10 single game schedule with approximately (5) games in Holt and (5) games in neighboring mid-Michigan communities. While every community is asked to try to schedule games on Monday-Thursday evenings only, in some communities with field limitations- some Friday games may result.  The League conducts an end of season championship tournament. HJRSB wants to encourage its teams to participate in one or more tournaments beyond the league championship. HJRSB will assist in the funding of that tournament pending availability of funds.

UNIFORMS / EQUIPMENT

Players will be provided a uniform that includes a uniform shirt.  HJRSB will provide softballs, helmets and catchers equipment for use during the season.

**Each player will need black softball pants and black socks**
