2020 Kentville Minor Baseball Return to Play
We are pleased with the recent announcement that baseball activities will be allowed to move forward this season in Nova Scotia! We are reviewing the details from Public Health and Baseball Nova Scotia, but we want you to know that Kentville Minor Baseball (KMB) is committed to providing baseball within these guidelines.
This season will have a different look than what we are used to. There will be a phased approach to resuming baseball activities in Nova Scotia. Phase One (Returning to Training) will allow for practices that will be held regularly following all Public Health rules. This will require more coaches and non-coaching volunteers to help with Public Health requirements on and off the field. Baseball experience is not required to assist in these efforts. Many hands make light work.
Under the Forms/Handouts tab of the website you will find the resource material regarding BNS Return to Play 2020, Phase One Return to Training Participant and Coach, and the COVID-19 Waiver (which must be filled out by the first practice). We strongly encourage you to read through these handouts.
At this time, we are communicating with Baseball Nova Scotia and other minor baseball organizations about arranging games. The progression to Phase Two (Return to Competition) will require Public Health approval.
KMB is expecting to provide both recreational and competitive programs. Tryouts for competitive teams (U11 or higher) will begin the week of June 15th. Depending on the registration numbers it may be possible for us to offer more than one competitive team per division. These decisions will be during the tryout process.
We expect recreational level teams to be on the field in early July, and continue until late August.
Registration needs to proceed as soon as possible. Registration cost is $100 to start the season ($75 for T-Ball). This covers fixed costs (fields, insurance, balls, cleaning supplies) for practices this season, and will not be refunded if Public Health requires an early end to the season. Costs per player will increase depending on the Return to Competition (Phase Two) implementation. Team budgets will be determined once we have more information to work with. Our deadline for registration and payment is this FRIDAY, JUNE 12th, 2020. We need time to plan for the season and to ensure we are meeting all requirements.
Upon completion of your registration, please pay by e-transfer to firstname.lastname@example.org. Payment and a COVID-19 Waiver, will be required before participation in tryouts and or practices. If already registered, please proceed with payment and provide your player's name with that payment.
TRYOUTS: If your player is interested in trying out for on of our competitive teams, please send a separate email to email@example.com noting this intention in the subject line. We need to have this information by June 12th as tryouts will begin the following week.

Kentville Minor Baseball is pleased to announce a new funding opportunity for families in need!
The Town of Kentville's Public Works Union has established the "Beav's" Helping Hands Fund in memory of Gary "Beaver" McGinis. Beaver worked for the Town of Kentville's Parks and Recreation Department for about 30 years and spent many an afternoon or evening mowing and/or doing the infields for the various ball fields. Five players will be awarded $100.00 each to help offset their Kentville Minor Baseball Association registration fees.
Parents that wish to apply for this assistance should complete the application form which can be found under the FORMS tab of our website. Once you have completed the application form you MUST click on the "Checkout" button at the bottom of the summary page.
