Message from Cobb County Parks
We have received the following message from our Cobb County Parks representative:
Effective immediately, all Cobb County Parks and facilities have been closed and barricaded until further notice.
Also, please be mindful that trespassing will be taken seriously by the county at this time.
Additionally, the board would also like to inform you that we are still holding on to hope that we will be able to play this season.
We are following guidance from the state and the county and will keep you posted, at this point the season is still just suspended.
season postponed until further notice
As you know, our local school districts have decided to close schools in an effort to protect the students, parents, faculty and staff from the spread of COVID-19. We've also consulted with local authorities to make the most informed decision on how to proceed with our program as well.
Effective Friday, March 13th, Kennworth Softball and all participation with our rec program has been suspended. We will postpone our season for a minimum of two weeks. At that time we will re-evaluate the situation and keep you informed. This means no games or practices during this time. Picture day has also been postponed.
We know this is a very difficult time for our families and community regarding coronavirus (COVID-19). Everyone seems to have a side and their own opinion on the topic, but it is our responsibility to do what's best for the members of our association. Please respect that we are in uncharted water and will always err on the side of caution and safety for our members.
We are looking forward to getting everyone back on their normal schedule and to play the great game of softball as soon as possible.
KPRA Mandatory Health & Safety Procedures
Due to concerns surrounding the coronavirus (COVID-19) and in accordance with guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the World Health Organization, and other health authorities, KPRA is implementing mandatory health and safety procedures as part of a proactive approach to preventing the spread of germs.
KPRA is adopting these new measures effective immediately. We cannot stress enough how vital it is that ALL participants adhere to these guidelines.
KPRA is immediately instituting a precautionary no-contact, no-handshake policy until further notice. This includes all physical contact and extends to customary game-related activities, such as pre-game coaches handshakes, umpire-coach introductions, and post-game handshakes between members of opposing teams. Instead, players and coaches should use verbal queues, such as saying good game, without shaking hands, high-fiving or fist-bumping.
Maintain Good Hygiene Practices
All participants should be aware of the coronavirus risk and take the necessary precautions to avoid exposure to germs. This includes maintaining good hygiene practices.
We will provide updates related to these new measures or let you know about any additional precautions to take if and when they become necessary. We appreciate your cooperation in following these new procedures as we work together to maintain the highest health and safety standards as an association.
