Welcome to the home of the Lamphear Backyard Football League
Brendon Lamphear suffered a mild injury of the calf on Sunday at a training camp scrimmage session. Upon recording a tackle of Cerino Tigers wide-out Christian Cerino, Lamphear was hit in the calf, causing pain throughout the rest of the workout. After training camp Sunday Lamphear went in for an MRI and it was a strained calf muscle in his right leg. The original diagnosis came out as, "Brendon Lamphear was checked by a team doctor today after training camp and is known to have a strained right calf muscle." Lamphear is currently listed as doubtful for opening day on September 20, against the Cerino Tigers. This would be a crushing blow for the Lions. Already being far out-sized by the Tigers, the Lions cannot afford to lose Lamphear, one of the better tacklers and defenders the league offers.
2009 LBFL Draft
The 2009 LBFL Draft is complete, with Jack Reff, a defensive specialist out of Christian Brothers Academy, being taken first overall. Reff is looking to be a top candidate for defensive player of the year, bringing the versatility of being able to play DT and LB very well. The second pick of the draft, and the first by the Lamphear Lions, was Joe Meluni, a hard hitting defensive back and wide receiver from Westhill High School.
