Misfits goalie Mike Tuna no-showing because he didn't know when the game was was the only hiccup in the Misfits 8-2 win over the Ice Dogs.  Mike Nelson led the way with 2 goals and 5 points in their biggest win of the season so far.  Rob Del Muro had a goal and 4 assists himself, Kevin Searing had a 3 point night and 8 different players had a point in the win.  The W puts them at 5-0 leading the HLI E2 division as they look to repeat as fall season champions.  In net - the bolts goalie, who stayed after his game to help us out, made 28 stops on 30 shots for his first, and hopefully only career Misfits win.

In a battle of the two unbeaten teams in HLI E2, Austyn Henrich stopped all 20 shots thrown his way by PLT and the Misfits special teams dominated in a 4-0 win.  Rob Del Muro had 2 power play goals and Dan Mahoney scored a shorthanded tally in the win.  Kevin Searing started the scoring redirecting an Anthony Anzalone shot 1:02 into the second period to get the scoring started.

In a game that resembled that of a video game, the misfits scored 2 goals in the final minute to stun the Eliminators and move to 3-0 on the season.  Down a goal, and with the goalie pulled, Kevin Searing scored with exactly 1:00 to go to tie the game at 6 and then with just 6 seconds left on the clock, Hoops Henrich lit the lamp, sending the Misfits on their way.  The Misfits were trailing by 2 goals in the final two minutes when the comeback started.  Henrich and Searing both had 2 goals, Rob Del Muro, Mike Nelson and Brendan Belltaire also scored for the defending fall HLI E2 champs.  Austyn Henrich made 22 saves for the win in net.

The misfits followed up their opening game win with an impressive 5-2 triumph over the Rage, a team a division above the Misfits.  Rob Del Muro had 2 goals and an assist, Tim Hausch had 3 points in his season debut and Austyn Henrich made 28 saves on 30 shots in his debut in net for the Misfits.  With the win, they move to 2-0 on the young season with a game vs. the Eliminators on the horizon.

Welcome to the official website of Hockey Long Islands Yellow team, the Misfits.  The team was founded in the summer of 2015, going 2-5-1 but winning a playoff game before being eliminated in the semis.  We really found our stride in our second season, going 10-5-1, and winning the teams first(and so far only) championship.  The third season, that spring, they went 7-4 before falling in the semis of a double loss tournament.  And then in the summer of 2016, we went 6-2, but lose in the first playoff game (single elimination).  This marks the beginning of the fall 2016-17 season.  The website will have write ups for each game, eventually player profiles and as complete statistics as i can get.  To access player stats, go to the teams/rosters tab on the left.  You can also find our schedule and some fun other things here.  I am not a website guy, this is the best i can do.  If anyone who is creative or likes this stuff and wants to spice it up, by all means let me know and we can have some fun.  Enjoy

The Misfits opened the fifth season in franchise history with a convincing 7-2 win over Yard Sale.  The team, with 4 new additions, got off to a hot start.  Vinny Budano and Rob Del Muro scored goals less than a minute apart and 3:06 into the game, the Misfits led 2-0.  6 minutes later, the two connected to put he lead to 3.  Del Muro won a face-off clean to Vinny Budano, whose shot from the point was deflected in the top of the slot by Del Muro, and we had a 3-0 game.  The second period wasn't as fun and successful.  Yard Sale scored twice on just 6 shots to get within 1 goal.  The Misfits, however, took advantage of a 4 minute power play, scoring on both ends to retake control of the game.  Brandon Bellaire scored his first career Misfits goal, followed by Chris Del Muro's first of the season, and the 3 goal lead was back.  Hoops Henrich added his first career goal with the squad, and Rob completed the hat trick for a 7-2 final.  The Misfit defense was great all night, clearing the puck, keeping bodies out of goalie Mike Tuna's way, as they let up just 11 shots in the first 2 periods (21 overall).  Newcomer Tom Henrich and d partner and son, Hoops fit right in with the team in the win.  Peter Gortaire added two assists from the blue line.  The win puts the Misfits at 1-0, if you couldn't figure that out, knowing it was the first game.  Their next contest is Thursday, Oct. 27 at 10:30 at Parkwood in Great Neck.
