Migrante BC Ronald O. Memorial Friendship Baskeball mens league house rules

1.Playing time:

  • 10X4 minutes Running time
  • Last 2 minutes of the 4th quarter stop time 
  • If the scores is 15 pts or more spread at the start of (2mins stop time) switch to running time.

2. Four (4) Players:

  • number of team players to be allowed to start the game, failure to complete dressed 5 team players @ the start of 2nd half, considered lost by default. Score is (20-0).

3. Team line-up:

  • Name of the team roster line-up are final.
  • Player's 18yrs old or under, written approval by parents or guardian is a must.
  • Player's with superior skill who played with any team in migrantebc open current champion team are not eligible to play for any teams in friendship league.
  • Exceptions, Players played first friendship league before playing withthe team open league are allowed
  • Considerations; Players in the migrantebc open league champion who are with in average level of skills of the game and with good sportsmanship are to be considered.

4. Uniforms:

  • Uniform of the team member has to be the same color with number, players jersey number must be consistent (always use a same #) NO UNIFORM, NO PLAY.

5. Three (3) games played:

  • All team members need to play the minimum 3 elimination games to have a chance in playing the play-offs.

6. Overtime:

  • 2 minutes stop time
  • 1-50 seconds time out per team (every extra period)

7. Time out:

  • 2-50 seconds time out each half

8. Substitution/opportunities

  • Always report to table officials, wait for referee's signal before entering the playing court.
  • On dead ball/injury(s).

9. Every 5 minutes substitutions:

  • Team must substitute all 5 players, second shift have to be players 6 to 10, no double shift. In the event of less than 8 ready to play team players, 2points is to be awarded to opposing team (with the required number of players)
  • Last quarter of the game coach/captain pick players

10. 10 minutes grace period

  • (Time frame for the team to have a minimum of 4 dressed-up ready to play players), failure to complete the required players a call for no contest (default). 20 points to be awarded to team with 5 ready to play players.

11. Team Bonus shot: @5 team fouls = 2 free throw will be awarded

12. Technical Fouls on: (1 shots and ball position at center line)

  • Disrespectfully communicating to officials (refs, table officials) league organizers
  • Using language or gestures likely to offend on incite extends to spectators.
  • All kinds of foul languages, direct or indirect swearing
  • Swinging elbows with/or no contacts (shoulder and above of opposing team)
  • Falling down to fake a fouls
  • Grabbing/pulling opponent jersey,
  • Grabbing an opponent leg/s while on the ground
  • Cross cutting under an opponent on air when making lay up
  • Any disrespectfully reaction/s actions when assessed for violation/s..
  • Hand/s eye(s) sight covering when opponent making shot
  • Fiba rules are in effect..

13. Unsportsmanlike foul

  • Not a legitimate attempt to directly play the ball., includes hard fouls
  • Last 2 minutes of last quarter, while the ball still in hand of inbounding player/ foul is assessed on defensive player
  • Penalty: 2 shots and ball awarded at the center line

14. Five (50 Technical/Unsportsmanlike fouls:

  • A player committed 5 technical/unsportsmanlike fouls within the length of elimination games-lost their chances of having individual awards

15. To break the tie of the team standing:

  • win over the other
  • in the event of multiple tie of team standing

         = total points scored against each team involved divided by number of teams.

16. League Format:

      Single round robin,

       1) Top 2 teams are guaranteed semi-final playoff spot

       2) 3 points shot-out contest....open to all ,,entry fee to be determined at the gym?....prizes (trophy and 25% of the     collected amount) to be awarded to the winner? To be discussed...

17. LAST 2 MINUTES OF THE LAST QUARTER..

 Substitution/time out = shot upon(opportunities only for in bounding team)

  • When substitution is granted opportunity as well for opposing team

 Fouling an opponent with no intention of playing the ball is a technical foul

ATTENTION:

  Registration fee..$_925_ - 50% on first game..(includes $50 team bond for team no show,default.)

               In the event the team withdraw after playing its their first game - no refund

  • A Full payment of team balances after the team's 3rd game is a must.

  Deposited unused amount of $50 will be returned to all teams with no game forfeit

ATTN: All Players must have the knowledge of migrantebc house rules and regulations when playing in the league...(coaches or teams captain are responsible to inform/ introduce/explain the rules and regulations to their players).

Migrante BC/ Ronald O. Memorial Friendship Basketball House Rules and Regulations

General Regulations:

1. All team must register a minimum of 8 and a maximum of 15 players on their roster. Players must have their name on the roster, fill and sign the waiver form before the start of the game, or they will not be eligible to play. PLAYOFF ROSTERS CAN ONLY CONSIST OF PLAYERS WHO HAVE PARTICIPATED IN A MINIMUM OF 3 REGULAR SEASON GAMES.     If a registered player in the league does not have the minimum games assigned by the league, to participate in the playoff they will not be permitted to play in the playoffs. NO EXCEPTIONS!            

2. For liability reasons, any changes to your roster (ie: adding a player) through out the season, must be submitted prior to your 3rd game time, ANY ADDITIONS TO TEAM ROSTERS MUST BE MADE NO LATER THAN of team 3rd game schedule, NO EXCEPTIONS!

3. Teams may not pick up random individuals in the gym on game day, to play with their team.

4. Once a player is registered with a team, he may not play with any other team for that season.

5. All Teams will be required to report jersey number and name to scorekeepers prior to tip-off. If this is not done accurately and promply, the team will be served with a plenalty in the form of a technical foul for delay of games, If this is an on going issue teams will be forced to default their game and will be fined for their violation.

6. Each team must pay a $50 bond, notify us or call the commissioner/organizer 48 hours prior to your game time and you will only be penalized $25 instead.

7. Team who shows up and wins by default will have a 20 points  

DEFAULT RULE:                                                         

  • 1st defaulted game and each default thereafter = loss of performance bond
  • 2nd defaulted game and each default thereafter = loss of performance bond
  • 3rd defaulted game and each default thereafter = loss of playoff eligibility

8. All teams shall play FIBA Men's Basketball Rules with these specific modifications.

* Games will be played in 10x4minutes running time  2 minutes stop time. However, at anytime within the 2 minutes, if the score is beyond a 15 point spread it will switch over to running time.

* Overtime games will be set for2 minutes stop time. Double and Triple overtime games 

* All teams will be awarded 2 full time out (50seconds)  per 2 quarter(half), with an additional one time out for each, over-time period necessary. Unused time-outs do not carry over from the first half to the second half, nor can they be used in overtime.

* Technical fouls will result in the opposite team receiving 1 free throws and possession of the ball at half court.

* Flagrant fouls with intent to injure will not be tolerated. The opposing team will receive 2 fouls shots and possession of the ball at half court Migrante-BC officials will review the call and decide if suspension is necessary.

* When a forfeit occurs, the players who have shown up can scrimmage, however, no referees will officiated.

(BC HIGH SCHOOL modifications to FIBA Basketball).

 

  • Substitute who desire to enter the game do have to wait until the official signal to enter after the last free throw of a multiple attempt to enter the playing court.
  • Medical Alert Bracelets may be worn provided they are properly covered and are not dangerous to other players.
  • A player in control , holding the ball is closely guarded when his opponent is in a guarding stance at a distance not exceeding 1 meter. ( A player is not considered by rule to be closely guarded if they are dribbling the ball)
  • Players are NOT permitted to dunk a ball during warm-up, before the first quarter, during the intermission, between quarters or half time intermissions.

 9. Teams are held responsible if any team member, or guest causes injury or damage to any person or property during any game, warm-up or post game activity. Please respect the facility in terms of garbage disposal and keeping the washrooms clean. We need to keep in mind that we are using a Glennbrooks middle school facility.

10. Players are expected to participate with the spirit of fair play and respect. Officials, opponents, timer/scorers and facility staff are to be treated with courtesy and respect. There will be a "Zero Tolerance" policy in effect to enforce the rules and regulations for the league and to keep the integrity and quality of the league intact.

11. Migrante-BC Basketball League is a competitive men's league. Thus, to be eligible to play you must be at least 18 years old as of the 1st game of the season. Females are welcome to play with the approval of the league officials for safety and liability reasons.

 

Discipline Procedures:

The  following will describe and categorize varying infractions by degrees of severity and then outline the penalties incurred by such infractions. The objective is to ensure consistency is maintained.

Discipline administered may cover more than one section per incident. The terms of suspensions listed are a minimum for each infraction. A player 's past record is considered and will influence the decision. Initiation and retaliation, where applicable, will also be considered in determining discipline. Probationary periods may also be assessed.

This is designed for dealing with infractions committed by player(s), teams and guests of teams. Incidents of misconduct directed against GAME OFFICIALS will taken very seriously and dealt with by the Migrante-BC Basketball League Administration who include the Commissioner, organizer and Officials.

A player who fails to immediately leave the facility after being ejected, will incur further penalty. Any player under suspension for any of the following sections shall not involve himself with the game in any way and shall not to enter the gym when his team is involved in any regular season game(s) falling within his suspension.

Game suspensions will be carried over from one season the the next, and apply to an individual no matter what team he plays with.

The disciplinary committee, where required, will hold discipline hearings, within a reasonable period of being notified of the infraction. Players will be notified verbally or in writing of the decision made.

 

One to Six Game Suspensions:

When player(s), team m ember(s) is/are suspended he/she is not allowed to join their team on the bench or engage of the team activities.

The length of suspension for the following will be determined based on circumstances:

- Any player accumulating two technical fouls in a game will be immediately removed from the game and receives an automatic one game suspension.

- A further two technical fouls will result in an additional two (2) game suspension.

- An additional technical foul, (fifth of the season) will result in removal from the remainder of the season without refund.

- Any player ejected from a game, except for players leaving the game for having five fouls in one game must leave the facility immediately

- Any player or spectator who abuses and/or harasses scorekeeper

- Any player playing under the influence of drugs or alcohol will be asked to leave the facility immediately

- Foul and abusive language or indecent gestures towards players, officials or facility staff, which resulted in game ejection, or for any such behavior occurring after the game.

- Striking opponent or official with the ball will be taken extremely seriously

- Leaving bench to join altercation.

- Joining an altercation between 2 or more players.

- Intentionally kick, punch, push or otherwise strike an opponent prior to, during or after the game.

- Fighting, or multiple punches thrown.

- Intent to injure. (Second such offense will result in a playing ban for the remainder of the season at minimum)

- Players who refuse to leave the gym when directed to by an official.

- Spitting on a player, facility will result in a minimum 1 game suspension and reimbursement for damages cost.

- Failing to leave gyms by the official closing time.

(Second offense of any of the above (or combination of more than one) will result in a minimum of three games suspension and a maximum of suspension (ban) from the league).

 

Season or Permanent Suspensions:

- Players involved in a violent altercation, or threat against opponent(s), official(s), facility staff or patrons during or after their game.

- Players that assault, threaten, harass or otherwise abuse officials or scorekeepers during or after games.

- Players that accumulate 3 or more game ejection's during a season (excluding fouling out) and/or who demonstrate an ongoing disregard for league officials and/or regulations.

- Any combination of any of the above infractions may result in either season, multi-season or permanent expulsion from the league depending on the severity of the incident(s).

- Any action that seriously jeopardize MIGRANTE-BC'S reputation or facility booking.

 

Team Discipline:

Please be considerate to the teams that are playing not to bounce the balls at any time during the game. As you can see it is running time and we do not need to waste time or stopping playing time to tell the players on the sidelines to hold the basketballs.

 

Teams will be fined or disciplined for the following infractions:

1. Teams may start a game with minimum of four players, however, if a Team has less than 4 players show up to play their scheduled game, they will lose their $50.00 performance bond (deposit)

2. Teams who are short players can start with 4 players at the scheduled start time. At the end of the first, if a 5th player has not shown up to play, a default will be called. Upon this time the referees will stop referring and the gym will be available to scrimmage (only for league players) for the duration of your game time. Teams with only 3 or less players present at tip-off time, will automatically forfeit - NO EXCEPTIONS!

3. Teams who do not take steps to control disruptive behavior by their players and guests, which result in injuries or damage to other persons, property, the facility/staff or Migrante-BC's reputation, prior to, during or after the game

4.DUNKING(S), HANGING IN THE NETS DURING WARM-UPS AND HALFTIME AND AFTER GAMES WILL NOT BE TOLERATED. IF SEEN, BEFORE STARTING/RESUMING THE GAME THE OPPOSING TEAM WILL BE AWARDED 2 FREE THROWS AND BALL THROW-IN AT CENTER LINE. FURTHER DISCIPLINE WILL FOLLOW FOR 2ND AND 3RD INFRACTIONS. (GAME OR SEASON SUSPENSIONS)

ANY DAMAGE CAUSED IN AT GLENNBROOK s MIDDLE SCHOOL FACILITY WILL BE FIXED IMMEDIATELY AND ALL COSTS ASSOCIATED WILL BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE PLAYER(S) INVOLVED

5. NO ONE is allowed on the SIDES or TEAM BENCHES during the games other than designated personnel. There is plenty of room by the back stage of the gym to be used. Teams are responsible for their guests and entourage to conduct themselves by the rules that the league has in place. Failure to abide by these simple rules will cost the team involved penalties that may result in suspensions if the matter escalates.

 

Commissioner Responsibilities:

1. Ensure that team representativEs and players are notified of the following information in advance:

  • Important season dates
  • Confirmation of all teams participating in the Migrante-BC (returning/new teams)
  • Location of the play
  • Advise date when rosters and fees are due by
  • Ensure fees are collected and receipts issued if requested
  • Advise teams when the schedule will be available
  • Have an Evaluation form for general feedback to improve Migrante-BC
  • Review rules and regulations

2. Advise team representatives that in addition to representing their team, they are responsible for the actions of their team members and guests on the court and in the facility where games are played.

3. Ensure that each team has at least one copy of the league regulations and is aware of league information available on the website.

4. Ensure team standings and player statistics are updated on our website (www.leaguelineup.com/migrante2016) at least on a weekly basis

5. Monitor on a weekly basis the status of player infractions, ensuring that the situation is dealt with on a tImely basis. If discipline is needed, make sure that the individual player and team representatives are notified.

 

Team Captain/Representative Agreement:

I am aware and understand that as a Migrante-BC Team Representative,

1. To provide my team a schedule of all regular season and playoff games or show them how to find it at www.leaguelineup.com/migrantebc

2. Ensure team players are aware of Migrante-BC rules and regulations (rules are available on our website and are also provided in print to the captain of each team.

3. Ensure team players wear jerseys/uniforms as per Migrante-BC requirements.

4 Inform all players that once a player is registered with a team, he may not play with any other team for that season.

5. Notify players of any fines or suspensions and ensure that any and all suspensions are served.

6. Encourage the spirit of fair play with your team. Players are expected to respect their opponents, referees, scorekeepers, guests and facility staff.

7. Inform team players that unacceptable behavior by individual players, the team and/or its guests either on or off the court will result in suspensions.

8. Ensure that team members in playoff games have played at least 3 regular season games.
