Brawlers 58 vs Dragons 35

This week was the final game of the season. After a injuryplagued Dragons team made the field, they knew theyhad to fight until there wasnothing left on the field.
After winning 6 of the last 8 games, they were hoping for the fairy tale ending. With plays by Mike Lynch, Mike Bowman, and Will they were able to make a great run.

The Brawlers were ready for anything and defeated them by three scores. Their defensive leaders held this game in check with Rick Brewer, Austin Van Fossen, Charles Wells, Tyson Miller, and Nick Grosklos.

It was a great season, congrats to everyone

Brawlers  40  vs    Kings   30

A championship style game and definitely eluded our expectations. The caliber play and just the outright desire to win was apparent. The Brawlers defense was definitely the story of the game today,  with 7 interceptions and 1 for a touchdown plus 16 sacks, and ten of them by Rick Brewer who critically stopped the offense on more than one occasion.

The  Kings fought a tough battle and held their own also making an impact defensively with 2 ints and 14 sacks by Dustin Yocum, Tim Fittro who lead, Joshua Peppers, and Steven Alexander.

Brawlers Offensive Leaders - Clint Fought, Chris Will, Dylan Gray, Garret Lochary, and David Gray.

Kings Offensive Leaders -  Jeffrey Kidder, Larry Ramsey,  and Shandon Kidder

The tanks 33    vs   The Dragons   37

This was a sit on the edge of your seat kinda game, this one went back and forth. Both teams are commended for going the distance and leaving it all on the field.

Both teams battled and the work horse for the tanks today had to be Asher Bice, rushing for a record 262 yds on the groundand three tds. The Quarterback play and leadership  was there, but today the experience showed on part of the dragons with clock play and short play. A star was born in this one,  Derick Gibson tore it up defensively with 5 sacks, 1 int, and one tackle.

Tanks offensive leaders - Austin dix,  Asher Bice, and Devon Wofe

Dragons offensive leaders - Will Bowman,  Mark Adams, Mike Lynch,  and Brayden Jones(this was a great team win)

Congrats to the dragons and brawlers, as they approach the Championship game this sunday at 11am.

Games went as regularly scheduled but after three forfeits, the  league has decided to dissolve the Wolf Pack. With poor leadership and noresponse, the captain chose not to let us know what was going while teams showed up for games to not get to play. So, with the dissolved Wolf Pack group. The players who have paid can still play but have to choose this week a team to go. Remember rosters are still 20, and only three players from the Wolf Pack can go to one team.

As for other news, The Kings defeated the Spartans and the Dragons upset the Good Squad by four pts.

Next weeks games are at noon - Dragons vs Brawlers and at 2pm Kings vs Tanks

As we go into week eight, we have three games.

NOON - Misfit Kings vs The Spartans

The Kings wisely brought back Mark Bryan to the QB spot and was able to make some adjustments offensively this past week. Marks got dangerous speed and hopes to light it up this weekend with targets like Anthony Caplinger, Shandon and Jeffrey Kidder, along side of Marcus Haile and Larry Ramsey.

The Spartans however, hope to create a high scoring offense this week with the help of Zane Ullman and off the legs of Chris Hugelheim.

2PM- The Wolf Pack vs The Tanks

The Tanks have won their last four out of five games and is run off the leadership of its qb Austin Dix and Mike Smith. They have some real gems in Devon Wofe and Matt Tompson who have a combined 600 yards and 6 tds thus far.

The Wolf pack and Mikey Keiser have only threw two interceptions all year and there is just so much talent here, it looks like a rough feat to knock them out of the winning brackets.

4PM - Goon Squad vs The Dragons

Goon Squad looks to bounce back after a forfeit this past wk and to get back to their winning ways behind the superb play of Cole Day and the rest of their team.

While the Dragons have won their last 2 outta 3 games by playing solid defense. Offensively looking better but still needs a little work. They look for big plays by their receivers and hopefully some ground play.

Brawlers are off this week

Good luck to all teams this week!

REMEMBERING ALEX!

By Andrea Bowman

My name is Andrea Bowman and I was a teacher of 18 month old Alexander better known as Alex. Alex Hornbeck is from Parkersburg, WV who fell ill around the middle of June, 2020.

On July 5th Alex was taken to the doctor because he wasn’t himself and still was not feeling better. He was taken to Ruby Memorial in Morgantown where doctors told him & his family that he had cancer. Little Alex had cancer in his lungs, liver & heart and at such a young age, that was a lot for his tiny little body. The cancer that was in his heart took up 70% of his right atrium which lead to open heart surgery on July 6. The surgery lasted a little more than 6 hours and thankfully it was successful. He started to feel better, got taken off the ventilator, was awake & watching movies, playing with his own hair which has always been a way that Alex self soothes. He was doing awesome, resting as much as possible and recovering nicely. Around July 12th, Alex began coughing, having trouble breathing, and breathing very fast. The nurses wanted to give him more oxygen to help his body while recovering from his heart surgery but on July 13th, Alex got his diagnosis. He had a Malignant Rhabdoid Tumor and was advised that starting chemo would only delay the inevitable causing more pain and discomfort because the cancer was progressed so much that it was all through his tiny body.

On July 17th at 2:25pm, Alex sadly passed away. He put up a hard, strong fight and kept a smile on his face even though he faced so much so fast. He is forever our Batman and our superhero!

Alex has impacted my life forever.. He has taught me to never take anything for granted, don’t get discouraged over little things, and life is too short so enjoy every second, every minute, and every hour of every day! Every day is a new day and you should never feel alone.

When I organized a candle light/prayer vigil, the news spread clear around the country with thousands of people praying & fighting for Alex. They reached out to myself and the family & offered their help, love, and support. Alex touched everyone’s life that came in contact with him and everyone who heard or followed his story. I always hug my own children a little longer, a little tighter, and make as many memories with them as I can! As a mother of five kids my life revolves around them and cherishing every day we are blessed to have together!

Another weekend in the MOVFFL, and the first game proved that heart is always left on the field.

The Misfit Kings welcomed back to the game Mark Bryan who put up respectable numbers and his co partner Cody Britton did as well. The stand out in this game for me was Anthony Caplinger, who picked off two balls and also grabbed a fumble recovery and zipped in for a td plus two more receiving. Jeffrey Kidder also proved he is a force to be reckoned with, phenomenal talent!

Misfit Kings Player of the week goes to ANTHONY CaPLINGER.

The Spartans fought hard and managed a score with a pick from Jordan Seidler who made his first appearance this year in the league.

Spartans Player of the Week goes to ZANE ULLMAN.

The Wolf Pack continued to dominate in week 2 against the expansion team Tanks by a score of 90-26.

Mike Keiser lead the team with almost 600 yards 11tds and no ints. While Bradley Craig and Braxton JOhnson had almost 200 yards receiving with 4 tds a piece.

WOLF PACK Player of the game goes to Braxton Johnson again.

The tanks fought hard and scored 26 on the wolf pack which came as quite the shock. This is a team to come.

The speed of Asher Viser proved to be a valuable asset with just two rushes for 87 yards and a td and he also had 5 catches for a total of 118 yds and 3 tds. Brinker looks like a valued quarterback if he gets the start!

THETANKS Player of the game goes to ASHER VISER

The Goon Squad vs The Dragons, now this was a hard fought battleand because of the defensive play of Cole Day they remain undefeated through week two. score was 34-21 Goon Squad.

This was a truly defensive battle but without key defensive play, these players simply impact the game the most today. Joey Barnes, Josh Mercy, Mythius Houghton and Cole Day.

Goon Squad Player of the game goes to Cole Day.

Dragons Player of the game goes to Mark Adams.

7 teams remain intact in the MOVFFL.

We welcomed a new expansion team the St Marys Tanks while they didnt get a win, they played with heart and look to be a new staple in the league.

The Brawlers defeated the Spartans 60-7 but Chris Hugelheim had a good game with a first play of an 80 yard run for a touchdown. Brayden Jones did a great job and looks to have some real talent this year.

PLAYER of the week for each team are Clint Fought and for the Spartans was Chris Hugelheim

The Wolf Pack and Mikey Keiser soundly won but the Dragons looked good as far as playing as a team. By the end of the season, I think they could make a run for the playoffs. Alex Tracewell was a beast and ever generous with the ball rallying up 12-220 and 3tds but also assisted with another 150 yds that ultimately lead to a td on each. Final score, 91-19.

*PLAYER of the week for each team are Alex Tracewell and for the Dragons is Quinton Cofield

Goon Squad came out and beat the Tanks 50-14. Cole Day was doing it all and his favorite targets today were Mythius Houghton, Kam White, and Seth Dailey who lead the league in receiving last year.

*PLAYER of the week for each team are Cole Day for the Goon Squad and for the Tanks was Devin Wolfe

Misfit Kings took a win over the Backyard Brawlers.
