Results from Week #1 (4/21/24)
Field 1
- Marks Properties 16 Lawrence British Club 15
- Lawrence British Club 13 Marks Properties 7
- In game 1, Marks Properties came out firing and put 5 on the board to start the season. More scoring in the 2nd inning giving Marks Properies an 8-1 early lead. Jamie Crane & Todd Proia lead the bottom of the order going 5 for 5. The LBC battled back and chipped away at the lead. In the bottom of the 7th inning, with tying run on 2nd & 2 outs, LBC drives one deep to center turning rookie Gary Desrochers around and headed for the fence, before me makes the quintessential Willie Mays overhead basket catch!! (The one we all wish we could make) for the final out and give Marks Properties the game 1 victory. LBC was led by Roger Blundell with 2 big home runs and 4 RBI, while Jeff Kelly and Bobby Waters had 4 hits each.
- LBC got back on track in game 2 with a solid game both on offense/defense, and earned a split with a 13-7 victory. LBC was led by Jeff Kelly with 5 hits and 4 RBI, Roger Blundell with 4 hits and Ralph Polichetti with 3 RBI.

In the game 1 win for Cornerstone, BJ Mannion led the way with 3 hits and 3 RBI. Lee Stewart had 2 hits and drove in 4. Eric Pellerin, Ron Aquino, and Steve Burns chipped in with 2 hits. Eric P was sharp on the mound.

In the game 2 loss, Billy Crowley had 3 hits and 3 RBI. Lee Stewart, Chet Ryan, and Steve Burns chipped in with 2 hits apiece.
Pug
- The Loft 16 McKinnon's Supermarkets 12

- In game 1, The Loft broke open an early 4-4 tie with 3 runs in the 3rd, highlighted by an inside-the-park HR by Dan McDonald. Mike Bergeron hit his 1st dinger of the season in a 5-run 4th inning, then Erick Pineda's triple was the spark for another 4 runs in the 6th. McKinnon's scored 7 runs in the 6th to close the gap to 16-11, but The Loft held on for an opening day victory, 16-12. Nardi Lawrence had 4 hits for The Loft, and Dave Tyler was 3-3. Dave Pierce had some big hits for McKinnon's, and Chris Rosado played a great LCF.
- In game 2, the hits just kept on coming for The Loft as they scored 5 runs in each of the 1st two innings, then put up another 5-spot in the 5th on the way to the doubleheader sweep. Nardi had another 4 hits out of the leadoff spot, going 8-8 on the day. Kevin MacDonald made his first 4-hit game in the MVSSA, while Erick Pineda, Dan McDonald, Bob Brown, Ken Bisson, and veteran Jack Gilhooly all had 3 hits as part of a 29 hit attack. Brown had 7 RBI in game 2. The Loft will face Lawrence British Club next week, while McKinnon's goes against Cornerstone Services.
