The NE/SE summer soccer program provides elementary and middle school children with an opportunity to learn fundamental soccer skills through a non-competitive, fun, low-cost, quality community program. Practices are on Mondays and games are on Wednesdays and are held at Northeast Park (1530 Johnson Street NE, Minneapolis).
NE/SE Soccer is a recreational league. Teams are split into four divisions: 1st/2nd Graders, 3rd/4th Graders, 5th/6th Graders & 7th/8th Graders. 1st - 4th Grade Divisions meet Monday/Wednesday 6:15 - 7:15 pm and 5th - 8th Grade Divisions meet Monday/Wednesday 7:30 - 8:30 pm.
Coaches are volunteers who have completed Minneapolis Park Board training. Teams practice on Monday evenings and play each other, round-robin style, on Wednesday evenings.  Our season will begin on Monday, June 10, 2019 and will end on Wednesday, July 31, 2019.
Game Schedules for each division can be found under "Forms" section of this website under the "handouts" link.
Shin guards (worn inside soccer or tube socks) and gym shoes (not necessarily cleats) are required to play NE/SE Soccer. If players choose to wear cleats, they must be soccer cleats rather than football or baseball cleats (i.e. no cleat on the tip of the shoe).

Inclement Weather Policy

Games/Practices will be cancelled only if the heat index is over 105 F, there is lightning, or the fields are under water (it has happened). If a NE/SE Soccer game/practice is cancelled, it will be posted on this website by 5:00 pm and an email will go out to every parent who has provided us with an email address.  If you would like your email address to be added to our parent email list, please send it to:

Become a NE/SE Soccer Coach!

Volunteer coaches make NE/SE Soccer happen every summer. Coaching with NE/SE is fun, rewarding, and does not require any more time than you would spend attending every practice and game with your player(s). Substitute coaches can be arranged if you have vacations planned. The only additional time-commitment is a required Coaches Clinic scheduled for Wednesday, May 29, 6:00 - 8:00 pm at Northeast Park. We will teach you some drills to use during practice, learn about program expectations, and answer any additional questions about the program. There will be some paperwork to fill out and a required concussion training will need to be completed. Then you will be an official Mpls Park & Rec Coach!
