The Niverville Soccer Club is a youth soccer program that seeks to provide a fun, recreational activity for the youth of Niverville. Ages of players run from those born in 2015 to those born in 2002. Games and practices take place weeknights during the months of May and June.
Players in the U6 and U8 age groups play mini-soccer. Mini-soccer is an introduction to the sport of soccer for younger players. It is non-competitive in that no permanent teams are formed and there is no traveling to other towns. Weekly activities introduce the players to the basic skills and rules of the game in a fun atmosphere. Parents are encouraged to get involved as coaches, assistants and snack providers and may sometimes be required to help out with drills and games. The season starts in the first week of May and ends in the last full week of June.
Players in older age groups participate in the Eastman Youth Soccer League. This is a recreational league involving teams from Beausejour, Dugald, Anola, Hazelridge, St. Anne, Steinbach, Blumenort, Niverville, Otterburne, Grunthal and Vita. We aim to have separate boys and girls leagues at each age group. Some smaller communities may field co-ed teams when they don’t have enough players for separate teams. The under 10 age group is divided into north and south divisions so that the younger teams do not travel long distances. They play 7-a-side on a smaller field to encourage greater participation in the game. The U12 age group will play 9-a-side as recommended by Canada Soccer Association.
