The Bearcats defeated the Windsor Knights 14-0 in the final to capture the NSIBL League Tournament Banner. Hats off to all teams who participated and a big thank you to Amherst for being a great tournament host.
Here are the 2025 NSIBL League Award Winners:
Top Hitter: Matt Hunter (Amherst) - Matt posted a slash line of .515/.598/.618 in 23 games including 35 hits and 19 RBI.
Top Pitcher: Ethan McLellan (Noel Road) - Ethan posted a 3-1 record over 35 innings pitched, and notched a 1.29 ERA while striking out 42 batters this season.
Coach of the Year: Blaine Hamilton & Matt McLellan (Noel Road). Hamilton & McLellan led the Blue Jays to a 17-9 record and a AAA provincial silver medal in their return to the NSIBL.
League MVP: Tim McKinnon (Pictou County) - Tim slashed .415/.462/.537 in 24 games played, led the league in RBI’s (33), and finished with a 1.89 ERA in 19 innings pitched.
Anthony Miller Memorial Award, which is presented to a league player who exemplifies passion for the sport, gives 100 percent, and shows total respect to everyone involved in the game: Colby Russell (Pictou County). Colby’s dedication and leadership for the league was on full display this past season. Commissioner Russell helped bring the league from 4 teams to a whopping, 8-team league, the strongest it has been in a long time. Russell also pitched 39 innings for the Albions and posted a 3.03 ERA, with a 3-3 record on the mound. Congrats Colby on a well deserved recognition!
The NSIBL is proud to recognize and congratulate the following teams on capturing their respective provincial championships this past weekend:

Hammonds Plains A’s – 2025 'AAA' Provincial Champions. The A’s secured the title in Noel Road with a victory over the host Noel Road in the championship game. We extend our sincere thanks to Noel Road for organizing and hosting an excellent tournament.

Bridgewater Bulldogs – 2025 'AA' Provincial Champions. The Bulldogs earned their championship in Halifax, defeating Windsor in the final.

Truro Bearcats – 2025 'A' Provincial Champions. The Bearcats claimed the championship in Petit de Grat with a win over Little Anse in the final.
The NSIBL congratulates all players, coaches, officials, and volunteers who contributed to the success of these events, and thanks the host communities for their efforts in providing outstanding championship experiences. Great job everyone.
Now, the focus turns to next weekend's NSIBL League Tournament in Amherst (Sept 19-21).
WEEKEND RECAP – JULY 19–20
Saturday, July 19 – Windsor Sweeps Truro in Doubleheader
Truro hosted Windsor on Saturday but came up short in both contests. Windsor took game one 8–3 and followed up with an 8–6 win in game two.
In game one, Truro’s Jeff Chisholm went 5 innings, striking out 7. Zack Betts led the offense with a double and an RBI.
In game two, Dustin Harvie pitched 6.1 innings with no walks, while Marshall Field hit a home run and drove in two in the losing effort.
Sunday, July 20 – Noel Road Dominates in Windsor
Noel Road hit the road and picked up two solid wins over Windsor, winning 10–3 and 6–2.
In the opener, Chase Brown earned the win with 4 innings of work, and Ethan McLellan went 3 for 4 with two doubles and an RBI.
Game two saw Ryan McLellan throw 4 shutout innings, while Dillon Miller went 3 for 4 with an RBI to lead the offence.
Sunday, July 20 – Pictou County Albions Take Two from Amherst
In a high-scoring opener, Pictou County outslugged Amherst 12–9. Cory Baird earned the win on the mound, while Jayden Hatchard led the Albions with two hits. Amherst’s Matt Hunter went 3 for 4 with a double.
Game two was a pitchers’ duel. Jax Graham threw 6 strong innings and Tim McKinnon closed it out for the win. Kieran MacGillivray came through in the clutch with a walk-off two-run single to seal the 2–1 victory. Amherst’s Logan Dowe pitched a gem in the loss, going 6.2 innings without allowing an earned run.

Amherst Athletics Sweep East Hants Hombres
Game 1: Amherst 14, East Hants 7
Game 2: Amherst 21, East Hants 7
The Amherst Athletics brought the bats to East Hants on Sunday, sweeping the Hombres in a pair of high-scoring affairs.
In Game 1, Amherst jumped out early and never looked back, riding a strong performance at the plate from Nate Stone, who launched two home runs and drove in four runs. Burke Beed earned the win on the mound with 2.1 innings of work and 3 strikeouts.
Game 2 saw even more offense from the Athletics, as they piled up 21 runs en route to a decisive victory. Tyler Skinner picked up the win with 3 innings pitched and 4 strikeouts. Phoenix Remington had a standout day, going 4-for-6 with a home run and 4 RBIs to power Amherst to the sweep.

Bridgewater Bulldogs Sweep Pictou County Albions

Game 2: Bridgewater 14, Pictou County 9
The Bridgewater Bulldogs showed their offensive and pitching strength on Sunday, sweeping the visiting Pictou County Albions in a competitive doubleheader.
In Game 1, Bridgewater’s Luke Thimot earned the win with 5.2 innings pitched and 6 strikeouts. Ryan O’Toole led the Bulldogs offensively, going 2-for-4 with an RBI. Pictou County’s Dylan MacKay took the loss, pitching 5 innings with 5 strikeouts. Kieran MacGillivray provided a bright spot for the Albions, blasting a solo home run.
Game 2 was a high-scoring affair, with Bridgewater pulling away late to secure a 14–9 victory. Chris Zinck pitched 5.2 innings and struck out 4 to claim the win, while Cole Heighton took the loss after struggling through 2 innings, allowing 10 runs. Geides Garcia was the offensive standout for Bridgewater, going 3-for-5 with 5 RBIs. Wyatt Spence hit a crucial 3-run homer for Pictou County, helping them close the gap from 10–2 to 10–9 in the fifth inning, but the Bulldogs held on to clinch the sweep.

Noel Road Blue Jays Defeat Truro Bearcats
Tuesday Night Game: Noel Road Blue Jays 11, Truro Bearcats 3
The Noel Road Blue Jays put together a strong outing on Tuesday night, cruising to an 11–3 victory over the Truro Bearcats.
Eric Fields was dominant on the mound for Noel Road, pitching 4 innings and striking out 9 batters to earn the win. Offensively, Carter Graham led the charge, going 2-for-2 with an RBI. Truro’s Quinn Cashen struggled in relief, allowing 7 runs in just 1 inning pitched while recording 1 strikeout. Marshall Field was a bright spot for the Bearcats at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a double.

The Nova Scotia Intermediate Baseball League delivered a full slate of exciting doubleheaders on Sunday, June 1st, with teams across the league squaring off in pivotal early-season matchups. Here's a look at how the action unfolded:
Pictou County Albions Sweep East Hants Hombres
Game 1: Pictou County 10, East Hants 2
Game 2: Pictou County 6, East Hants 0
The Albions put together a dominant day at the ballpark, taking both games of their twin bill against the East Hants Hombres. Pictou County’s offense came out hot in Game 1, plating 10 runs behind a balanced team effort.
In Game 2, Pictou County’s pitching staff stole the spotlight, shutting out the Hombres. Strong starting pitching combined with clean defense kept East Hants off the board.

Rain Soaks Weekend Slate, But One Matchup Manages to Shine Through
Bridgewater Bulldogs Top Noel Road Jays 9–4 in Lone Game Played
While rain washed out most of the weekend's baseball action, one determined matchup dodged the downpour and delivered plenty of excitement. The Bridgewater Bulldogs took full advantage of a brief window of clear skies to notch a 9–4 victory over the Noel Road Jays on Sunday.
Bridgewater’s Joel Holland was dominant on the mound, going six strong innings and striking out nine batters to earn the win. Backed by solid defense and timely hitting, the Bulldogs controlled the game from the start and never looked back.
With the rest of the league sidelined by weather, Bridgewater’s win stood as the lone result in an otherwise soaked and silent weekend of baseball.

Noel Road made their return to the league, and welcomed the newest NSIBL member, East Hants Nationals in an afternoon doubleheader where the host Blue Jays took both games.

The Bridgewater Bulldogs also made their return to the NSIBL, it is great to see the Bulldogs back in action at Lahave Field this summer! They earned a split against the always tough, Windsor Knights squad. Windsor won game 2 on a 3-run blast in extra innings.

The 2023 AAA Provincial Champions Pictou County Albions traveled to Amherst to take on the 2024 AAA Provincial Champions, Athletics in an afternoon doubleheader. Amherst proved to be too strong for the Albions, and powered their way to an afternoon sweep.

Congratulations to the Amherst Athletics on winning the 2024 Intermediate AAA Provincials! Amherst defeated Dartmouth 16-9 in the gold medal game. This is Amherst's 3rd AAA title in 4 years. A testament to the hard working, highly skilled team of players the Athletics have. Congratulations to coaches Darren, Tyler and the rest of the team.
Congratulations to the Sherose Island Schooners on winning the 2024 NSIBL League Tournament! Sherose defeated Amherst 14-8 in the final. Thank you to the Schooners on hosting a great weekend of ball, and congrats to all the players and coaches on the well-deserved tournament win.

Some teams are failing to enter ROE's along with Fielder Choices in their Offensive Statistics. This plays a factor into decision making for League All Stars, MVP's, top hitter, etc.
