Evening NTX Thunder Players / Parents
Hope everyone had a safe and happy 4th of July.
We will continue with practices and tournaments this week.
Our next tournament we want to enter is in Carrollton and will be indoors. Although it is indoors players are not allowed to use walls as there is touchlines and endlines on the field.
Play will be 5V5 and we would like to take at least 8 players per division. The cost would be $27 a player and teams are guaranteed at least 4 games....
Registration deadline is July 9th and teams must pay by that date. Tournament is a one day tournament on July 15th.

Evening NTX Thunder Parents,

Our 2017 Spring Season ended this weekend. Our teams won 4 games and tied one. We had four teams finish in top 3 in their division standings. Teams had a good season especially that all five of our teams had 1/2 or more of their roster with new players. Teams will be much better for the fall season.

A FEW NOTES:

We have practice Wednesday May 17th from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM for all players playing in GSA Memorial Tournament or for any players wanting to participate in summer tournaments. Practice at Alamo Park.

Here are a few tournaments we are interested in playing in

Playing soccer the whole year really helps players improve in the game. The main reason is players continue to touch the ball the entire year. We invite all current players to continue playing for NTX Thunder in the summer. Please let us know asap if you would like for your player to play in any of the tournaments above. Please keep in mind tournaments have a deadline to register (usually about 7 - 10 days before tournament date).

We are also trying to schedule a team party for June 10th at Bradfield Pool. Cost would be one fee for a family but cost per family will depend on how many players can attend. Pool would be closed for our teams and pool has a big slide that goes into pool. We would have a cook -out at the park before the pool party so we could take team pictures and give out medals / trophies to players.

We need to know by Thursday May 18th if you can attend team cook-out / team pool party. I apologize but we will have a sponsor for medals / trophies(these are not the GSA trophies) so will only order medals / trophies for players going to team parties. We already have a collection of trophies that were ordered but players never picked up.

Your players worked hard all season so please try and make party.

Please try and have players at field by arrive time so coaches can warm up players and go over game plan.

Mesquite Tournament was cancelled(we apologize). There is still tournaments in Frisco, McKinney and Fort Worth. We can also enter the Garland Cup tournament scheduled for May 19th 20th and 21st.

This will be at Winters soccer Fields and Garland Soccer is hosting the tournament. Cost would be about $16 a player and teams will play 2-3 games and can play more if teams advance. We need to know asap as deadline to register is next week and there will be no extension on deadline for this tournament.

With Mesquite tournament being cancelled it is expected for other outside organizations(Mesquite, Richardson, Dallas etc...) to enter tournaments. This tournament is open to guest players (up to five) to play for us.

Please let the coaches know if you have anyone in mind to join our teams for this tournament.

Currently we are expecting guest players for U9 Boys, U11 Girls and U14 Boys.

Thank you to the parents and players that participated in yesterday's Quickfoot Tournament.

Although we did not take win 1st place I feel the players had a great time. They also benefited greatly in adjusting to the speed of the small sided game.

Just a reminder that we will get back to GSA Spring season this week. 

Practice Schedule again

2009 - 2008 Boys  Mondays and Wednesdays 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM 

2003 Boys Mondays and Wednesday 6:15 PM to 7:45 PM

2006 Boys / Girls Tuesday and Thursdays 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM

Our Spring 2017 is coming to an end (last 3 weeks). Our Spring and summer tournaments will then begin for any players / parents that want to continue playing soccer.

We want to schedule team and club pictures on April 29th after our games at Winters Field #11 4:30 PM. We will do our own pictures to save parents some money. More details to follow.

We  also want to schedule our end of season party / banquet. We feel the players did a good job this year and sometimes placing(1st-2nd) is not always the best way to judge the season or their performance. That being said during the banquet we thought a small reward would be great. We would like to order either player medals or trophies for the players to pass out during party / banquet.

Cost would range from $5 to $9 a player. Please let our team manager(Cynthia) know if you would like the same and want to order for your player. More details to follow

Our tournament season continues in May. We would like to enter either the Mesquite or Fort Worth tournaments. 

Both tournaments will have different levels of play (unlike this past Saturday).

Both tournaments will play with bigger rosters and play either 8V8 or 11V11 and have longer halves (around 22 minutes). 

Both will be a 3-day tournament(Friday, Saturday and Sunday). Cost depends on number of players but Fort Worth would be cheaper around $20 a player but will also be further. Mesquite would also average lower with max roster max. Please let us know asap if you would like to participate in either the Fort Worth or Mesquite tournament.

Afternoon NTX Thunder Parents,

We had four teams play games yesterday and went 3-1 in those games. Our new style of playing and formation are working and players just need a little more time to adjust. Other teams coaches and referees were also impressed on how our teams played yesterday. We received multiple compliments especially on how are players played as one unit and their passing. Please tell players they did a great job.

An update on 3v3 Quickfoot Tournament. The attached sheet shows players that have confirmed are playing in tournament. U8 and U9 play 3V3 on 20X30 field and have a six player maximum per team. U11 and up play 4V4 on 30x40 field and have a eight player max per team. The cost for U11 and up will actually go down if we get 7 or 8 players. I apologize for the mistake on the cost. As eight players vs six players lowers the cost per player. We will make sure parents that have already paid get their correct change back if they over paid.

We currently have the following per team that have confirmed will play

U8 - 3 Players

U9 - 8 Players 

U11B - 7 Players

U11G - 7 Players

U14 - 4 Players

U8 / U9 - More than likely we will combine players together to make 2 teams. We have room for 1 more player.  Cost $33 per player.

U11 Boys / U11 Girls - More than likely make 1 team. Have room for 1 more player. Cost will be $30 with 7 but if we get 8 goes down to $27

U14 Boys - We need at least 2 more players to register / confirm. Cost for 6 will be $35. Goes down if we get 7 players($30) and 8 players($27).

We will have practice today for players playing in tournament since we have no league games next week. We will be going over 3V3 rules an drills.

We will also be collecting money and be there for any questions if you are still thinking about having your player participate in tournament.

Morning NTX Thunder Parents

Hope every one had a great spring break. Now it is time for players to get back to school and games. We have updated our Practice / Game Schedule sheet since it was a little hard to see. We made a few changes to today's and tomorrow's practices to try and give players some rest since we have multiple games all week starting Tuesday the 21st. After this week practice schedules should be set. It is important that players attend their practice either today or tomorrow since we only have one chance to practice this week.

We also want to order team spirit t-shirts for parents, players and anyone else that wants one. Shirts will come in either red or navy with our team emblem on the front and :HERE COMES THE THUNDER" on the shirt. The shirt comes in youth, men's and women's sizes(players can wear their shirts to practice. They are a dry blend t-shirt. Cost depends on number of shirts we order. 30 or under would be $12 a shirt but if we order 50 or more cost goes down to $10 a shirt. I would like to order shirts asap so we can shirts soon. We have created a weekly game schedule and current week game results / standings.
Overall all NTX Thunder had a real good week of games as we went 6-1 in games. We had three teams move into first place in their divisions and two of our teams stayed undefeated for the season. We also had our first player perform a hat trick for the season. GREAT JOB NTX Thunder.

As you already know we had to cancel practice today due to weather. Here is the remaining practice schedule for the week if weather permits.

We have posted a practice schedule for all teams. The schedule will be a little different this week and next week. Biggest reason we have multiple game scheduled next week during the week.

After next week the schedule will be set for all teams and only change due to weather and unforeseen circumstances.

Again we apologize for the short notices for practice in the past. February and March were hard months for practice due to weekday games and weather.

Sundays we will have one practice for any player that might miss a weekday practice. We will also cover goalkeeper training, athlete conditioning and set pieces for shots at goal.

Hello NTX Thunder Parents,

We have had two great turn outs for practice the last two days(U11 Boys-Girls and U8-U9 Boys).

Thank you for bringing out the players to practice it really does make a difference when all players on team show up for practice.

I told the players I would like to practice Friday at 6:30 PM at Winters soccer Fields. 

Garland Soccer limits practices to two times a week and 1.5 hours a practice. Although I disagree with this I have to follow the rule while playing in Garland soccer.

There is one exception. Garland Soccer hires a coach to hold practices at Winters Fields Sundays and Fridays. Fridays are Team Skills Session. This does not count as a practice for us since Garland Soccer is holding the practice.

I really would like to try this as it gives our players more touches on the ball.

Coaches must attend the Friday sessions also. I must have at least 6 players from U8-U9 division, 6 players from U11 Boys / Girls or 6 players from U14 Boys. Please let me know asap if your player can attend this Friday's Team Skills Session?

I must reserve a team spot by Thursday (tomorrow) with Garland office.

Evening NTX Thunder Parents
Hope everyone had a good Saturday of youth soccer games.
I have attached our practice schedule for February and March.
For April we might change it a little since we have all Saturday games. March is a tough month for practice as we have multiple week night games. All teams will practice Sundays at least for February and March. This way we won't have to cancel a practice because of week night games.
This practice schedule starts tomorrow (Sunday).... Again if you can't make it to practice we will be at the mentioned parks Sundays, Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. All coaches agree(myself, Coach Cruz, Coach Hector, Coach Sam and Coach Summer) try to make two practices a week even if you miss your age group practice. I also want to try Friday Teams Skills Sessions / practices through GSA (with GSA coach Krys Sobieski) at Winters Soccer Fields. Main reason this is the only way we can get a third practice during the week for our players meaning more touches on the ball. I will discuss more about this during tomorrow's practice.

Morning NTX Thunder (Dragonites) Parents,

Thank you for taking your players to our scrimmages yesterday. We believe the scrimmage was very important in getting our players used to game speed and game time duration.

Coaches were also able to see what positions players would be playing and what style / formations would be used for all our teams.

A few notes.

Schedules are out and I worked on them last night. We should have schedules on our website / Facebook page by today. The good news is all our games will be played at Winters Fields and only a few games (one maybe two per team) will be played during the week. All teams play Saturday except our 2008 boys.

We will also be working on our practice schedule and only make changes if weekday games interfere. A few things to consider.

1) Fridays and Sundays we have no scheduled games. These are days we are looking at for practices. Need to know from everyone if these days would be a problem?

2) Coaches agreed using an actual soccer field really helps during practice and helps players especially with corners, goal kicks, penalty kicks, goalkeeper training etc..... We are thinking of using Audubon as one of our practice locations possibly Fridays and/or Sundays. Please let us know if this would be a problem with anyone?

Just a reminder that we will be ordering team soccer bags today(have attached a picture to this email and will post on website / facebook page also). Please let us know if you have not ordered a bag yet and decided you do want one for your player. We will be placing order in about 1 hour(around 1200PM - 1230PM). Again the bags will really help out with player equipment and our extra clothes.

A new subject we are still looking for players / asst coaches / team parents to help our teams / youth soccer club. Below is a list of number of players and coaches listed for each division. Remember no soccer experience is necessary but helpful.

U8 Boys - 10 players - 3 coaches 1 team parent / manager

U9 Boys - 10 Players - 4 Coaches 1 team parent / manager

U11 Boys - 16 Players(maxed out on players) - 3 Coaches 1 team parent / manager

U11 Girls - 14 Players - 3 Coaches 1 team parent / manager

U14 Boys - 15 Players - 6 Coaches 1 team parent / manager

Other than our U11 Boys that our maxed out on roster our teams could use at least one more player.

U8 Boys - 12 Roster Maximum currently have 10

U9 Boys - 12 Roster Maximum currently have 10

U11 Girls -  16 Roster Maximum currently have 14

U14 Boys - 18 Roster Maximum currently have 15

Again we could use 1 more player for our U8B, U9B, U11G and use two more players for U14.

Last season we had multiple games were we played 1 player short in games or had no subs so our players were exhausted towards the end of game. Ask your player if they have relative and/or friend that would like to play with them on the team. No experience is necessary but athletic kids(kids that like to play sports) usually last on the team(and adjust to the game quicker). They do not need to live in Garland only requirement is that they do not or did not play with a team last season. Please let us know if your player knows anyone and we can give further instructions on how to register.

We still are looking for volunteers to help out with the teams. Helping out in practice would be helpful but more important is being available for the games. We would like at least 4 coaches and 2 team parents. Our 2014 boys are a good example as we have 6 registered coaches and 1 team parent / manager.

This will be our dress rehearsal before our games next week. Please try and make it as the scrimmage game will tell us how prepared we are for our 1st games next week.
