Turnovers Doom Oaktown Warriors in epic battle with Quad City Flames

October 28, 2018

HAYWARD, CA------ California Golden Tigers are no more! This season owner Ivan Davis decided to change the name to a more aggressive team name; the Oaktown Warriors. No, they are not trying to copy off of the National Basketball Association Golden State Warriors, but the Oaktown Warriors would like to take over the Oakland market and support one of the great fan bases in all of sports. That first step started Friday against the Quad City Flames of Washington State.

The game was played at Chabot College in Hayward California, the alma mater of Ivan Davis. This season the Oaktown Warriors really upgraded the talent on the team. The first thing Ivan did was hire coach Yohannis Johnson. This is a former ABA assistant coach who won two state titles in the ABA before the rise of the Far West Division. Next, they added 6’9 shot blocker Corey Douglas and 6’10 in scoring machine Hakeem Simon. Add those players to former Indiana State athlete Eli Alcantar and former Merritt college star Traveon King the Oaktown Warriors will begin to reshape their fortunes in the powerful Far West Region. The game started off with a bang for the Oaktown Warriors.

Alcantar immediately established that he was the fastest guard on the court as he continually got to the basket multiple times in the first quarter. Corey Douglas also established his presence inside along with Hakeem Simon as the Washington team had to quickly adjust and they did.

The Quad City Flames outweighed the Oaktown Warriors by quite a bit. Although the Warriors led after the first quarter the Quad City Flames begin to take advantage of that size. The Flames began to hit a barrage of threes and took the lead away from the Oaktown Warriors. However, the Oaktown warriors came back to tie the game at 45-all by halftime.

Still suffering from jet lag, the flames turned up the heat in the third quarter. They began to really hit their shots and the Oaktown Warriors began to turn the ball over a record of 15 times in the third quarter to go down by 22 points and the game was all but lost, or so it seemed that way. But the Oaktown Warriors showed what was really in their hearts during this stretch.

Coach Yohannis went to his small ball team and a really cut into the lead. The Flames really began to tire as the Oaktown Warriors turned up the heat and the speed to climb back into the game by the middle of the fourth quarter. Leading the charge was Traveon King and London Young. Both players routinely went to the cup and drew fouls putting the Flames in serious foul trouble in the 4th quarter.

The Oaktown Warriors trimmed the lead all the way down to two points and then turned the ball over and the Flames scored four points to go up six with under 15 seconds left in the game. However, the game was not over. With multiple players in serious foul trouble the Flames almost gave the game away. Down six points a foul was committed by a player with more than 6 fouls. To understand what I’m talking about, in the American Basketball Association you can play with more than six fouls. However, if you can get a 7th foul it is two shots plus possession. Not only did the flames commit that foul, but they accumulated a technical foul for arguing a call. This gave the Oaktown Warriors 4 free throws. Traveon King made three free throws and Alcantar shot the technical foul shot that brought the Oaktown Warriors within two points. Now the final possession was at hand.

Ball was inbounded two Hakim Simon and threw it to Corey Douglas. Douglas had been killing them with 3-pointers all game long. The entire team ran to cover Corey Douglas who threw it to a wide-open Eli Alcantar for the game winning shot. It fell short and the Oaktown Warriors rebounded the ball but turned the ball over the clock ran out for a 104-102 loss. A thrilling game from beginning to end. Next up will be the powerful San Francisco City Cats on September 10th.

The stats were unofficial as many statistics were missing, but the top performers were as follows

Corey Douglas had 29 points 10 rebounds and 6 blocks
Eli Alacatar had 23 points and Hakeem Simon had 23 points and 2 blocks. And Traveon King had 20 points 2 blocks and multiple assists

Golden Tigers Changes their name to the Oaktown Warriors

June 17, 2018

OAKLAND, CA---In his third season the California Golden Tigers decided on a huge and risky name change.  A big fan of the Golden State Warriors, he always enjoyed that name, but he is a bigger fan of the City of Oakland.  Oakland is where Ivan grew up and where he won his OAL title in 1984 wrestling championships.

This season should be special, with new talent coming on board and a new coach, the Oaktown Warriors will be competitive from the beginning.  It promises to be a great time and exciting basketball.

Oaktown Warriors form partnership with powerful United Games

June 24, 2018

Almost 2 years ago I took a chance on a brand new concept that most people thought was a scam. To play sports live as the game is happening by predicting the outcome of games for points and prizes.

Not only did the idea work, but United Games became the #1 sports app in the world. They have since added on other games and is looking to expand the company once again. This door closed last year and this will be the final opportunity to be a part of a worldwide app company. Watch the video and if you are interested in becoming an affiliate, like my page and PM me privately. United Games have become a powerful player in the app world and its time to cash in. Don't miss this opportunity!
