Elementary Development Program - Winter 2018/19 registration open!
Where: Alpha Rink – Harmarville
Dates: December 3, 2018 – February 18, 2019 (10 practices)
Practice Date/Time: Mondays from 5:00 – 6:00 pm
School Affiliation: Any
Eligible: Boys and girls in grades K thru 6.
Late Registrations accepted (fee will be prorated)
Purpose: The purpose of this program is to improve the fundamental hockey skills of elementary-age children. Children will be grouped by skating ability, and will be trained by a group of knowledgeable coaches. Similar programs are being rolled out at several other Pittsburgh area rinks. Depending on the number of registered players and skill level, some programs may play games between teams from the various rinks. The primary focus of this program is to improve skating ability, puck handling ability, and shooting ability in a fun environment
This is a Springboard Opportunity to improve the skills necessary to compete in In-line School Hockey or to transition to Ice Hockey.
Hockey Equipment will not be provided. Minimum Equipment Requirement: In-line Hockey Skates, Helmet, Elbow Pads, Shinguards, and a Hockey Stick.

High School Tryouts
High school tryouts for players currently in 8th-11th grades will be held on the following dates:
Sat May 5th, 4-6 pm at Alpha Ice
Tues May 8th, 7-9 pm at Alpha Ice

General Information 2018-19
Players Eligible: All students, boys and girls, in grades 3 through 12 attending either the Pine-Richland High School, Middle School, Elementary Schools or Home Schooled. Students living in the PR school district, who attend a private or parochial school are also eligible. We will be accepting out of district players for the 2018-2019 season. Each out of district player will be approved by the PRIHA Board prior to placement on a team.
Pre-Season Games: Seeding Tournaments will be held over four weekends in September and October (4 Games each weekend, 2 weekends per team).
2018-2019 Season: Regular season games begin in October, generally playing one game per weekend. Games will be played between October 2018 and February 2019. Most games will be on a Saturday or Sunday. Playoffs will begin sometime in February 2019.
Game Locations: Games will be played at the Alpha Ice Complex in Harmarville, Bridgeville Rollerplex in Bridgeville, Hot Shots Rink in New Stanton, Island Sports Center on Neville Island and Murrysville Sportzone
Practices: Practices will be held once a week corresponding with the start of the 2018-2019 school year.
Equipment: All players must wear a HECC-certified helmet (with cage and chin strap), a mouth piece, elbow pads, hockey gloves, shin pads and in-door roller blades/skates (no brakes and no street skates). A girdle with cup is recommended for all players as well as a neck guard for elementary players.
Insurance: All players will be registered by the Pine-Richland Inline Hockey Association with AAU Insurance. The cost will be included in the administration fee. The membership is valid for 1 year. It is valid for both the AAU Hockey and USARS.
Physicals: All players must complete the Pine-Richland medical forms which can be found on the Pine-Richland School District website. Physicals must be completed no earlier than June 1st and no later than August 4th. (dates are subject to change by the PRSD) Physicals will be offered by the PRSD for players in grades 7-12 sometime in June. Check the school district website for dates & pre-registration information. Physicals may also be completed by your family physician for grades 7-12 and will have to be for grades 3-6. Physicals completed by a private physician will need to be turned into the PRIHA prior to the first practice for grades 3-6 and to the Athletic Office for grades 7-12. Concussion testing is required every other year by the school district.
Player Fees: Fee to be determined after registration based on number of players. In previous years fees have been in the $700-$800 range.
Player fees will be collected as follows:
For high school players: $50 Administrative Fee & $225 Commitment Fee due at tryouts (please make out 2 separate checks). The season fee remaining balance will be scheduled in monthly installments beginning in August.
For elementary and middle school players: $50 Administrative Fee and $225 Commitment Fee will be due by July 31, 2018. The season fee remaining balance will be scheduled in monthly installments beginning in August.
Remaining balance and payment information will be distributed at a later date.
Jersey/Pants Fees: As our jersey supplier can no longer provide us with jerseys, we will be moving to a new jersey this seasons. A sizing order form will be provided at both tryout dates. We will use the same solid black inline hockey pants. Matching jerseys and pants are required by the PRIHL for all teams.
Goalie Fees: Goaltenders may receive a discount to help subsidize their equipment costs if they are using their own equipment. PRIHA does own some goalie equipment that can be allocated to players in need of goalie equipment.
