At the organizational meeting, a new disciplinary action was enacted to curtail the unsportsmanlike behavior of parents and other spectators which has increased over the past two seasons. Any spectator who is asked to leave a gymnasium due to unruly behavior will be suspended from attending the next three scheduled ballgames for that team. A second incident of ejection will prohibit that fan from attending any further games in the regular season or tourney games during this season. We also request that each gym has a site monitor during games to assist in monitoring and promoting good sportsmanship.
We have been notified of the following pre-season and early season tournaments. The Wilbraham Park & Rec Department will be hosting their Turkey Day Jamboree, November 29th through December 1st; the West Side Suburban program will be hosting their Tip-Off Classic December 5th through the 8th and the Western New England Women's Basketball team will be hosting the Golden Bears Tourney December12th through the 15th. More information can be found under the Handouts icon.
Please remember that Winning Coaches should submit scores to email@example.com within 48 hours of the end of the contest.
A "running time" scenario occurs in games with large point differential. Anytime in the second half with a 5/6th grade team ahead by 25 points or more, the clock will run continuously except during time-outs or free-throws. The clock will return to normal operation should the score get closer than the 25 point differential. A similar scenario was approved for 7/8th grade games once the point differential becomes 35 points.
Fall Back Rule:
Once ahead by the specified numbers of points, a team on defense must fall into the three point arc until the ball passes half court. Failure to fall back will lead to one of TWO warnings for delay of the game. A third warning will provoke an indirect technical foul against the head coach. The offended team receives two free throws and the ball at the division line. Three indirect technical fouls will lead to the disqualification of the head coach for the remainder of the game.
