BOYS BASKETBALL MISSION STATEMENT
The Southern Boone Boys Basketball Program will promote certain characteristics and qualities throughout their entire program. It will instill honesty, integrity, accountability, loyalty, respect, teamwork and success as qualities in which the athletic program will possess. Regardless of the athletic activity or competition the basketball program will share common values and will have a common goal. Southern Boone Athletics will value achievement and winning in academics, athletics, and personal development, unless the integrity of the participant or program is at stake.
In Southern Boone High School Athletics participation is a privilege and not a right. The athletic program is an extension of the academic program, and all student athletes are urged to strive for excellence in both the classroom and on field. Coaches, sponsors, administrators, and participants are expected to treat each other with dignity and respect so that all students are provided an opportunity to achieve excellence in their academic, athletic, and personal pursuits. Promoting good sportsmanship, commitment to team, and a winning attitude are essential to a successful athletic program.
The basketball program will show its commitment to the mission statement by setting expectations and making each and every value important to the individual and program. A positive image for our department within the school, community, conference, and state will be highly important. As expected, what we do as student athletes, coaches, and administrators sends a powerful message about our program to many that look to us as role models and for leadership. Our actions will prove our commitment to setting a positive and socially acceptable example for young people to follow.
Student participation goes beyond just practices and games; furthermore, it requires the student athletes to excel in the classroom. In order to maintain your right to participate in extracurricular activities the student must meet the district and state GPA requirements, must avoid any drug or alcohol use and must maintain good citizenship at all times. Once these requirements have been meet by the student athlete the privilege to participate in extracurricular activities is allowed.
As participants of Southern Boone County Basketball Program athletes you will value and treat each individual student, teammate, coach, and staff member with dignity and respect. This will allow for the program to grow and succeed with a reputation such that community and all involved will respect. Integrity will be expected throughout in which each program will value doing the right thing, the right way, for the right reasons, and doing so with honesty in all their actions.
In conclusion, communication and teamwork of our athletic program will demonstrate our understanding of the importance to our individual success through team-work, respect for confidentiality, and honest communication with each other. Expecting accountability will allow for all involved to take responsibility for their own decisions and actions. Finding the initiative to resolve difficulties created by our decisions will be expected by all means possible.
