Field Hockey is open to all 5^th thru 8^th grade SKS students and eligible parishioners.  In addition, there will be a 3^rd & 4^th grade field hockey clinic program (which was very popular in 2013). 

5^th and 6^th graders will play on JV.  7^th and 8^th graders will play on Varsity.  In the past, SKS has had a very popular Varsity program. This has lead to some challenges with respect to playing time.  We have been researching ways to make this situation better.  One solution may be to schedule additional games that will provide more playing time for certain players.  This is still in the works, but we are aware of the situation and will work towards making the experience strong for all participants.

Coaching:  Catherine Lowry will be taking the lead on the program for 2014.  Catherine will bring excellent organizational skills and leadership to the program.  She is looking for assistant coaches to help with Varsity and JV.  Anyone who is interested or who may know someone who is interested should contact the CYO program or Catherine directly.  (Contact information is below).

Practices:  Practice will be held at 3:30 in the afternoon Monday through Thursday at Ditmar Field in Wayne.  Games are typically scheduled for after school during the week.  The team will participate in various tournaments throughout the season.  These tournaments usually take place on weekends.  

Season:  Practices will start at the end of August and the season will run through early to mid November.

Uniforms:  The uniform will be the same as in previous years – navy blue jersey and navy blue skirt. The uniform will be available to order online through Wayne Sporting Goods at the start of the summer. Those who are new to the team, or those returning players who need new uniforms are responsible for ordering the uniform on line. Practice pinnies are also required, but will be provided by CYO. 

Field Hockey Clinic:  Former Varsity coach, Jane Dwyer, will be running a field hockey clinic on Friday afternoons for 3^rd and 4^th graders.  She will be assisted by Rebecca Roe and Katie Krisko.  The clinic will also be held at Ditmar Field and will run from 3:30 to 5:00 PM.  The first clinic will be held on Friday September 12^th. 

Players should bring their own sticks, shin guards, cleats and eye protection.  Balls and jerseys will be provided. 

This clinic may be a good opportunity to introduce your daughter to the sport or can be an extra practice for girls who are already playing on a team (and a good way for the SKS girls to be together!!).
