Children eligible for SKS Varsity or JV tackle football must be entering grades 5 through 8 and be a member of one of the following parishes:
St. Katharine • St. Monica • St. Patricks * St. Norberts * St. Thomas • Good Council • Our Lady of the Assumption
Practice for St. Katharine of Siena football commences in the middle of August. Everyone who has signed up will be contacted in regards to equipment pick-up. The first few days of practice are “non-contact” with the boys wearing helmets and shoulder pads only. It is not mandatory that your son participate in all August practices as we understand that summer vacation schedules create conflicts. As of now, the practice schedule for August and early September is anticipated to be Mondays, Tuesdays & Thursdays from 6:00 PM to 7:45 PM. Practices take place at South Devon Field in Wayne.
Games for Varsity and JV are Saturday mornings starting in mid-September and running through the weekend before Thanksgiving. There is also a JV “B” team which consists of mostly 5th graders (and some 6th graders as needed). This team is designed to get the first year tackle players some extra playing time. JV “B” games are typically on Sunday afternoons.
The head coach of the SKS Football Program is Jim “Pach” Pachioli. Jim has been the head coach of SKS since 1996 and started in youth football coaching in 1976 at St. Thomas.

SKS CYO FLAG FOOTBALL - 2016 - GRADES 1-4
Welcome to the SKS CYO Flag Football Program. Flag Football is open to all 1st through 4th grade SKS students and eligible parishioners. The program is a great way for the children in this age group to learn the fundamentals of football and be a part of the SKS CYO program.
Practices: Tentatively, all 4 grades will practice together on Mondays at 6 PM at the South Devon Football Field (where the goal posts are located). The tackle football team does not use the field on Mondays during the fall, so is a nice opportunity for the flag program to have the entire field to itself. 3rd and 4th graders will have a second practice during the week (day of the week is TBD). This day of the week will be confirmed by the 3rd and 4th grade coaches sometime prior to the start of the season. 1st and 2nd graders will also practice on Saturdays; exact time will be pinned down as we get closer to September. We know that there are other Saturday sports conflicts and we intend to do our best to accommodate as many players as possible. It is not mandatory for all 1st and 2nd graders to attend Saturday practices.
Games: 1st and 2nd graders do not play games (only Monday and Saturday practices - as the season goes on there will be some scrimmaging). 3rd and 4th grade teams will play games against other schools/parishes on Saturdays (games have traditionally been in the morning). There will be a league-wide flag football scheduling meeting in late August/early September. We will work to provide a schedule once that meeting takes place.
Uniforms: Jerseys and shorts will be ordered for all players and are included in your registration fee. We ask that all players wear a mouth guard (you can acquire it at Wayne Sporting Goods). Each player will need a set of flags. Flags are not provided as part of the registration and they are available for purchase at Wayne Sporting Goods. Players should wear football or soccer cleats.
Coaching: Andy Pyfer will be running the 4th grade flag team. will be running the 3rd grade flag team. will be running the 2nd grade team. The program is looking for assistant coaches at all grade levels! This is a great way for you to get your feet wet with SKS CYO coaching. We are looking for parents to get involved with the 1st grade team. Ideally, 3 or 4 parents would get involved with that 1st grade group.
Communication: Once the season gets going, the individual coaches will be the main contact for each team.
Team Manager: If any parents would like to get involved but you don't consider yourself coaching material, we are interested in having a few parents become team managers and coordinate some fun events like a cookout at a practice or game, etc...
