St. Columbkille Crusaders USSSA Select Baseball teams will be holding tryouts on Monday, June 17^th at 6pm at our sports complex at 84^th and Fair View for teams that will be competing at the 8U-14U age levels for the 2025 season.  If your child is not able to participate on June 17^th, individual tryouts with the respective coach of your age group may be available.  To register, please go to https://leagues.bluesombrero.com/stcolumbkille.

Registration for Boys and Girls Rookie League (pre-K and K), Boys Machine Pitch Baseball and Girls Coach Pitch Softball (Grades 1-2 or Ages 7-8), Boys Recreational Baseball (Grades 3-8 or Ages 9-14), and Girls Recreational Fast Pitch Softball (Grades 3-8 or 10U, 12U, and 14U) takes place in January. Tryouts for our USSSA select baseball teams (8U-14U) take place in July for the following year.

Recreational and Select Baseball seasons begin in April. Recreational Softball, Machine Pitch Baseball,  Coach Pitch Softball, and our Rookie League begin in May.  All seasons conclude at the end of June.

Home games are played at our complex on 84th St and Fair View (south of HWY 370).  Machine Pitch Baseball, Coach Pitch Softball, and Recreational Baseball and Softball games are played in conjunction with Papillion Recreation.

Registration is open to everyone, not just members of our parish.

The St. Columbkille Crusader Select Baseball Program will have teams at the 8U-14U USSSA levels for the 2024 season.  Age levels are based on the age the player will be on April 30, 2024.  Players are allowed to play one age level above their actual age (so a 9 year old can play 10U, etc) if the coach believes the player has the necessary skill and maturity levels, but not down an age level (so if a player turns 12 before April 30th he cannot play on the 11U team).  Player fees are dependent upon how many games and tournaments the respective teams decide to play, plus uniforms.  Most teams play about 20-25 individual midweek games and 3-7 tournaments--usually at least one per month plus the end of year USSSA state tournament--adding up to around 30-40 games for the season, which lasts from the beginning of April through mid-July.  Teams usually have off-season workouts once a week for about two hours starting in December/January, then increasing in frequency in March.  Home games are played at our field complex on 84th St south of HWY 370, and off season workouts usually are at local indoor facilities.  Midweek games and tournaments generally are in the Omaha area unless a team decides to play farther away.

Tryouts take place in July for the following calendar year and teams generally are filled at that time, but some teams may have 1-2 openings into the off-season.  The teams are open to anyone, not just St. Columbkille parishioners, but parishioners are given preferential selection.  For more information, please email Jim Horacek at crus8rbaseball@gmail.com.

Our athletic program is primarily for our parishioners but our bylaws allow for non-parishioners to participate if we do not have enough St Columbkille players to field a team. Most of these players come from other Catholic parishes who no longer field baseball teams due to the rise of select sports. So we are giving opportunities to St Columbkille boys to stay in the parish program and for other Catholics to play on a Catholic team.
