The Walden Christian Academy for Girls Basketball has made it to Florida.  Coach Patrick "Rick" Kiernan who just recently lead his team to a District Championship and second straight Sweet 16 appearance, has moved on realilzing the potential to coach serious "full-time" athletes that want to play at the next level is his real passion.

Coach K has coached basketball for the past 30 years at the High School, College, and AAU levels.  In 2006 was inducted into the Christian Coaches Hall of Fame in New Jersey where he coached until 2006 where he had a .886 winning percentage with the New Jersey Walden Wolf Academy that he founded and coached.

Now, all that experience and history will start in Florida!  Coach K is looking to start with a committed group of 15 middle school aged athletes that will stay together, play together, and win together through High School.  Coach K is a disciplinarian who demands plenty from his players.  Coach K studied for 6 years with Coach Bobby Knight in Indiana making the trip from New Jersey to Indiana for two weeks each year to "learn from the best". 

Playing for Coach K is not easy and certainly is not for everyone.  Parents responsibilities are financial and to be great supporters and parents!  Coach K has the final word with regard to playing time and it is not negotiable.  If your child wants to learn the game and play at the next level, the Wolves is your team.  Coach K has helped players get into such schools as Rutgers, Southern Illinois, Liberty, Lynchburg, Brookdale, Kean, Florida Southern, Warner University, West Florida, Jacksonville University, The College of New Jersey, FDU, and many more.

Coach K is assisted by his daughter Kayleigh Kiernan "K-Twice" who finished her high school career in 2012 in the top 5 all time in assists in the state of Florida.  In 2011 finished second (Maxpreps) in the nation in assists and first in the state.  Kayleigh holds several school records in high school including: assists, 3 point shooting %, rebounds by a guard, making the All- County Team 3 years in a row, and being selected to 2 All State Teams in 2012.  Kayleigh was team captain for 3 years and received multiple tournament recognitions and MVP.  In 2010 was Female Athlete of the Year and Team MVP since her 10th grade year.  Kayleigh received scholarship opportuinties "free-ride" to the University of Tennessee @ Martin, Libery, Warner, and multpile other smaller schools.  Although her heart said yes, her body said "no" so she is attending Florida Atlantic University and working toward her doctorate in neo-natal nursing.  She is a HUGE assest to the coaching staff and is great with the girls!

It's called Walden Christian Academy because Coach K believes the court is his classroom and it all starts with God....thus "We Play With Six" which is his mantra for the past 6 years.
