The Westfield Baseball League Board of Directors cherishes its responsibility of providing organized baseball to the youth of Westfield. We want to assure our Families that their health and safety is of utmost importance to us.
With the news of the increasing spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19), the Board has decided to suspend all baseball activities through Sunday, March 22nd. This includes any practices, clinics, training, and games in outside leagues such as USABL, Union, and Basking Ridge. We will be sending weekly updates.
Some specific cancellations are:
- The final week of WBL Winter Training for grades K-3rd at D-Bat scheduled for Saturday March 14th has been moved till Saturday, April 4th. Same session times. If there are any changes, the participating members will be notified.
- The Major League tryouts for grades 5-6th at D-Bat and Inman Sport scheduled for Saturday, March 21st and Sunday the 22nd, have been cancelled. We are currently working on alternate dates and plans. The 5th/6th grade members will be notified once a decision has been made.
The Board has been in contact with Town officials and the Town Rec Dept and we await further guidance from them.
We are also in contact with and/or monitoring information from Babe Ruth/Cal Ripken Headquarters, our neighboring Cal Ripken District 12 Leagues, the Westfield B.O.E., USABL, and the NJSIAA.
Our first priority at the WBL will always be the safety and health of its members and their families. We want to do our part to help our health care community manage the situation by reducing opportunities for groups to congregate.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation during this time,
WBL Board of Directors

"You can't sit on a lead and run a few plays into the line and just kill the clock. You've got to throw the ball over the damn plate and give the other man his chance. That's why baseball is the greatest game of them all." -- Earl Weaver
