Good Evening WSP baseball families,

I hope this message finds you and your family safe and healthy during this time! We want to give you an update on West St. Paul Baseball moving forward. We had a very fun and successful modified summer season. The kids had fun, stayed active and we were able to implement COVID guidelines without issue.

West St. Paul baseball has decided to offer families a modified in house Fall Ball season for ages 8/9 and 10/11. Registration will open for 1 week starting today, Wednesday August 26th through Wednesday September 2nd. The cost will be $80 for 8/9 year olds and $90 for 10/11 year olds and all players will receive hats and jerseys. If you need pants, they will be available for purchase for $10. The games and practices will be played on Mondays and Wednesdays at Harmon Park starting September 14th and ending October 7th. Coaches will coordinate with each team regarding practices. Please note that space is limited! We must limit the total number of players to 44 ( 11 per team/ 4 teams ) for each age group.

COVID - 19 guidelines are at the forefront of our planning. We continue to adhere to and implement the plans approved by the City of West St. Paul. These plans are posted on our website if you would like to review them. In sum, we will continue to practice social distancing; will not be using benches; the backstop will be closed for player use and no parents will be allowed past the benches; sanitizing as much as possible; teams will use their own baseballs; small groups for practices; and masks for coaches. With some fall sports being delayed for schools, baseball can continue to be played within health guidelines and will be a good way for kids to continue to be active.

In addition, we will also be moving forward this year with tryouts this fall. Tryouts are tenetively planned for a weekday in mid- October. The tryouts will be held for traveling teams ages 12-15 and 9, 10, and 11 year old tournament teams. The registration will be $100. $85 will go towards your 2021 payment and $15 will go towards the cost of the tryout.

We want everyone to have the same shot at tryouts and fall baseball is a great way to prepare for them. We understand that some families do not feel comfortable playing sports this fall. We will continue to be as flexible as possible and there will be opportunities to tryout in the spring as well.

COVID-19

We as an Association are constantly monitoring the developments of COVID-19. With the current Health officials guidelines, Baseball is currently on hold and will continue that way until Health officials give us the go ahead.

We know that a lot of people have signed up for either traveling or In-House baseball. We are working hard to keep you updated on the latest news.

We will not be giving out tentative dates to start as of yet. We do not want to lead people down the wrong path. The answer, for now is we just don't know.

We do have multiple plans in place that include a full baseball season this summer, for In-House. Traveling is currently on hold as well and as they give us guidance, we will provide that to you as well.

All WSP buildings are closed for now. The city is not handing out field permits until at least the middle of April.

So for now, stay healthy, be smart!!

POSTPONED:

West St. Paul Baseball Fundraiser,

Thursday, April 23rd from 6-9pm at Tappers in West St. Paul.

WSP Baseball will be having a fundraiser to raise money for our association. 100% of all the proceeds will go towards putting turf in the batting cages and building a 3rd batting cage at the Baseball field.

It will be a fun time to get to know other parents in the association, support WSP baseball and support Tappers, a local business who supports WSP baseball.

There will be a silent auction and drink tickets to purchase onsite.

We appreciate any support you can give us. It is vital to keep Harmon park growing in the right direction. Turf in the batting cages is the first step of many to continue. We feel that it will provide safe and reliable cages for all to use.

So mark your calendars, we hope to see you there!
