    WELL UNDERWAY!
    September 4, 2008 The construction Special Needs Field is well underway! Projected to be complete by the end of 2008, this field will be the first of its kind in Cobb County and serve most of North Georgia. Though construction has began, donations are still be accepted to later add lights and other site amenities. For more information please call 770-917-1234.

    Special Needs Field Groundbreaking
    On July 19, 2008 Acworth and surrounding communities break ground on the much anticipated Special Needs Ballfield. After raising funds for just over two years, construction has begun on Cobb County's first ballfield with special considerations for physically and mentally handicap participants. Once complete the field will be equiped to offer baseball, basketball, and soccer programs. Accomanying the field will be concession stand which will offer employment training to special needs particpants. Tommy Allegood, Mayor of Acworth along with many other local and state officials were in attendace to celebrate this historic event.

    Atlanta Braves Host Clinic for SNL
    Acworth's own Day's Chevrlot together with the Atlanta National League Baseball Club, Inc. and the Atlanta Braves organized a special day for the Acworth Special Needs League at the Chevy Youth Clinic June 18. Instructors from the Cal Ripken Baseball Academy guided the participants through a series of stations and drills right on the historic Turner Field. From hitting to pitching to fielding, the SNL participants were taught the ways of the pros! Everyone had the opportunity to hang out with Atlanta Braves alumni including Brad Clontz, pitcher of the 1995 Atlanta Braves World Series team. The day ended with a huge lunch specifically for the SNL participants catered by Turner Field's own concessions.     2008 SUMMER BASEBALL LEAGUE GAME DAY 1
    The 2008 season begins kicked off Saturday June 7th with over 100 participants. Fields 1 - 4 at the Acworth Sports Complex were jammed packed with cheering fans, amazed spectators, and the SNL extraordinary baseball players. Saturday was a huge success as we had 8 teams coming out on top. After the games everyone enjoyed pizza graciously donated by Johnny's Pizza located on Cobb Parkway. The Special Needs League is growing tremendously and this season has began has our biggest yet. Next game day is this Saturday, June 14th which will also be Picture Day. All games are will be played from 9:00 am to 10:00 a.m. For upcoming games, check out the complete season schedule under the Forms tab on your left.     Special Needs Playground Up and Going!!
    The Acworth Special Needs Playground is now open! Immediately after the ribbon cutting on May 3, 2008, children of all abilities stormed the highly anticipated new playground. The playground has been built with special accomodations specifically to allow handicap children to access all points of the playground. The new and only playground at the Acworth Sport Complex allows families of children with all abilities to enjoy a day out.

    "250 Campaign"
    February 21, 2007 The “250 Campaign” kicked off at the first of February. The goal of the new fundraiser is to have 1000 people donate $250.00 or more to the special needs project. Look under Forms to get a copy of the donation form and mailing address.



    Special Needs Development Group, Inc. acheives 501(c)(3) tax deductables status under the Internal Revenue Code. What does this mean? All donations to the organiztion are now recognized as tax deductable!

    Future Home of the Special Needs Field

    The Acworth Sports Complex will be the future home of the Acworth Special Needs Ballfield. The Acworth Sports Complex is located at the intersection of Nance Road and Main Street in Acworth.



    Community leaders along with the City of Acworth Parks and Recreation Department are raising funds to construct a special needs baseball field at the Acworth Sports Complex. The field will be a handicapped accessible field. The field will be composed of a flat cushioned synthetic rubber surface. The surface will allow children with walkers and wheel chairs to participate in the programs. The fund raising goals include the field and site amenities, a concession stand, additonal parking, and a boundless playground.
