    PRACTICE SCHEDULE
Practices for the BGL will commence on December 12 (Grades 3-4) and continue on Saturday, December 13 (other Grades). The actual schedule will be posted to the site over the weekend of December 5-7.

Please be aware that there may not be a sufficient number of available time slots for all teams to practice that first weekend.

We are also not yet sure if the gym is available on December 19 and 20, so please continue to check the site for practice times and league information.

    GYM SAFETY
PARENTS- Please DO NOT allow your child to bring basketballs to the gym.

Balls continue to roll onto the court during play and someone is going to get hurt. Leave all basketballs at home!!!

    INFORMATION FOR NEW FAMILIES
October 20, 2008 A few facts about the typical BGL season:

Games are held on Friday nights (5:30 to 9:00 PM) and Saturday (all day) from 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM

Grades 3-4 (boys & girls) generally play on Friday nights and/or late Saturday morning.

Grades 1-2 play first thing Saturday mornings. Boys start at 7:00 AM and the girls usually play at around 8:15 or so.

After the Grades 1-2 and 3-4 games are completed on Saturdays, the schedule will GENERALLY then be Grades 5-6 and then Grades 7-8 later in the day/evening. But there is exceptions and the schedule will differ week to week. The only sure thing is Grades 1-2 early Saturday and Grades 3-4 on Friday night.

We expect to have one or two practice sessions in mid-December. Games will start in January for all divisions (Grades 5-6 and 7-8 may have one game in December).

Gym time is very scarce based on the many Parish and School functions held in the AAC, so practice times are very limited, if any. We do try to use the two Monday holidays (January and February) for practice sessions, unless we need to make up games that are cancelled due to weather.

Game schedules can only be assembled after determining the number of teams in each division- and that can only be accomplished after registration is completed. Please pass the word around that registration has begun so we can avoid the dreaded late sign-up's.

    DRAFT DATE & TIMES FINALIZED
November 23, 2008 The draft of players will be held in the gym on Sunday night, November 30th, for both the Boys and Girls Leagues. Times are as follows:

    From 6:00 to 7:15- Boys 3-4; Girls 7-8; and Girls 3-4

    From 7:15 to 8:15- Girls 5-6 and Boys 5-6 & Boys 7-8

There is no draft for Grades 1-2. The League will assign players to all teams after the first week of clinics.

NO PLAYERS OR PARENTS SHOULD ATTEND THE DRAFT- COACHES ONLY.

    LATE REGISTRATION
    November 13, 2008
As indicated in the many e-mails sent to all parents of players from last season, the online registration closed as of 11/10/09. We received a number of calls stating that the registration was closed on Saturday and Sunday, it was not. We had over 75 players sign up over the weekend and through 11/10/08, when the online process ended.

If you did not register during the open period, please send an e-mail to the following e-mail address with your name, your child's name and grade-

    bgl.hoops@gmail.com

We need to accumulate the names and number of late sign-up's and will then instruct you as to the late registration process. Please remember that there is no guarantee that your son/daughter will have a spot on a roster, but we will do our best to accomodate the late registrants.

A late fee of $25 will is required to be paid in addition to the regular registration fee.

    2008/2009 LATE REGISTRATION NOW OPEN
November 15, 2008 The online registration form for LATE REGISTRATION for the 2008/2009 season will be activated ONLY for this weekend (November 15 and 16). A series of e-mails have been sent over the last few days notifying those who have not registered to do so immediately. A final e-mail was sent out today (11/15/08). If you think your friends may have forgotten to register, please let them know of this late registration period.

There is a $25 late fee (per family) due with the late registrations. That late fee should be included in the check along with the standard registration fee as indicated on the registration form itself. That form also has mailing instructions included.

Messages and comments should be directed to:

    bgl.hoops@gmail.com

Registration closes at midnight on 11/16/08. We will then be issuing dates for the draft (to be held in late November) and dates for the first practices (which will be in mid-December).

    PLAYER AGENTS
Player Agent responsibilities include being present for all games in their respective division, assisting in maintaining the cleanliness of the gym and the gym floor (between games), assigning timekepers for games (to maintain the foul count and work the clock), keeping the games on our very tight schedule and monitoring teams for compliance with the rules of the League.

    We always need volunteers.
