First Some Inspiration!
Here is a terrific compilation of some of the greatest track & field distance races of all time. This will definitely get your heart rate up! The last clip is Billy Mills in the 1964 Olympics. The race seemed more like a rugby match than a track run, but watch his kick at the end---absolutely awesome! Click on the Finish Line picture (just to the left) to watch the YouTube clip.
Dave Wottle - Gold Medal 800m Race in Munich 1972
This was one of the memorable races from the Munich Games in 1972. It was overshadowed by the terrorist events of the games, Prefontaine's 5000m and Frank Shorter's Marathon Win. The 800m race was probably one of the most perfectly run races ever. Watch how close the finish is, but more impressive is Wottle's finishing lap and kick to the win!

About the Crimson Knights
Fifteen plus years ago, several parents of students at St. James School in Woodbridge - New Jersey, established the Fall Cross Country Program within the Athletic Department and with much needed help from the St. James Knights of Columbus. This program is unique in that the team is also supported by many different organizations in Woodbridge. Based in Woodbridge, the Crimson Knights are a Youth Cross Country team comprised of students (grades 1 through 8) from the Greater Middlesex County area, including southern Union County. The team's regular season is comprised of youth races sponsored by other running organizations in New Jersey under the rules & regulations of USA Track & Field. This program also participates in a nationwide running competition that culminates each year at the USATF Junior Olympic National Championships. These championship races have been held in places such as South Carolina, New Mexico, Nevada, Georgia, Illinois, Washington and now Kansas for the 2007 season. The program's season starts when the school year begins.
The progam has a very long history and is an excellent opportunity for students to learn the needed dedication regarding training and competition in sports.
