Just an FYI to teams participating at Veterans Field for the first time - You cannot chew sunflower seeds or gum while on the playing surface. Not sure about tobacco, but I'm sure somebody else knows and will post.

Tobacco and alcohol are not permitted on school grounds and playing fields.

Are you serious about sunflower seeds?

I have umpired several games there and you cannot have sunflower seeds.

However, the dugouts and field are littered with them.

FYI for teams and fans who will be at McGuire on Friday and Sunday. It is Ok to have spitters and chew, and beer is allowed at the field. While beer will not be sold, there will be a concession stand with other stuff.

If you're going to drink at McGuire, please go park your car behind the left-field fence, pull out your portable grill and tip a few. The left-fielders always enjoy talking philosophy with the folks in the "beer garden".

No beer at Veterans. I will be patrolled by city police and could result in us getting kicked out of there for the tournament if rules are not adhered too.

I wouldn't mind getting kicked out of a place with no beer, It's just wrong.
