| Good afternoon everyone,
Due to the large volume of rain we have received and upcoming forecast, all sport fields are closed today. Fields in Markham are water logged and many have standing water on them making them unsafe to play on.
Please notify all teams scheduled to play and or practice today that the fields have been closed. it is necessary to close the fields for not only the safety of the participants but also the preservation of the fields. Playing in these conditions can cause damage to fields which can take weeks if not months to repair. As regular users and good stewards of our resources we thank you for your cooperation.

| Like everyone, I’m disappointed not to be out there tonight. But for once, I think that this was a pretty good call by the City of Markham. It's hard to imagine, but according to Environment Canada, 70 mm of rain has fallen in Markham since this morning, and current radar indicates a further 20-30 mm of rain is possible before the system moves out of the area mid-evening. Folks, 100 mm of rain is a lot of rain. To put into perspective, we didn't get 100 mm in all of August.
No use anyone getting hurt before playoffs.
