| I've been reading many things about the 2020 and 2021 bats. Almost all of them are failing compression after a couple of games. These bats will be great if you are playing in a league like ours that does not test bats and also may be dangerous for some inexperienced infielder rec players. The only reason I think for the failing bats is so tournament players where the thumbprint bats probably will be tested more often. I know this is only a conspiracy theory on my part. But I think the bat companies are knowingly doing this to get players to buy their new stamped bats.

| I think the fact bats fail so quickly today, sometimes even in the wrapper, isn't really to boost bat sales I think it's more that people are not willing to put in the time and effort to break in a bat anymore. They want instant hotness but with that comes quick failure since the bat was manufactured close to 220 PSI compression.

| In the spirit of fairness, I would put the Easton Fire Flex (the gold one, but the blue/red one works too) is a great bat for the above average rec player.

| Over the years I have understood that an important aspect of improving my hitting. I came to the conclusion that making good choices is the ability to distinguish between decisions within our circle of competence and those on the outside. If I waited for a pitch that was really in my sweet spot,I would get a hit 70% of the time. But if he was impatient and swung at something that I could not handle, I would only get a hit 25% of the time.

| The pitcher versus the batter in baseball is probably the best sports analogy to investing. The pitcher represents the market, the ball is a particular company, and the batter is you. The market can throw you a lot of different pitches: outside, inside etc. They can either be balls, strikes, or the occasional wild pitch.

| Believing in yourself and your ability is vital to becoming a great hitter. If you don’t believe in yourself who will? Questioning yourself on deck or in the batters box is pointless because it is way too late at that point to worry about anything. You must trust that the work you put in has gotten you ready to perform, no matter the pitcher or the situation. I firmly believe that most hitters get themselves out more often than the pitcher gets them out. Simply doing the correct preparation, both mentally and physically, can place you in the mind frame needed to be a great hitter.

| Hitting is one thing, but defense is all the matters. I am happy to see that many teams have applied the "He can play several positions" philosophy. Yes, playing multi-positions has benefits, but when you can't play any of them very well, the case is moot.

| I don't know about you guys, but this isn't exactly how we thought we'd be approaching autumn. The Delta variant is causing some of us to pivot and alter plans once again. Amid reports of extreme weather as seasons change along with up and down games.
The fact is, storms of life come - often quickly and unexpectedly. So play the game, remember your youth and don’t worry about the umps, a error or a strikeout.

| Summer unofficially ends this weekend with Labour Day. Although Labour Day is now more associated with the start of school, cookouts, and visits to the beach, its origins are in the workers’ rights movement and it is a celebration of workers and their achievements. We should take the time to thank all of the guys that make this league a real thing.

| Some umpires are well known throughout the city. They may have a reputation for being fair to each team, (as in calls the same calls for each team) however he is also known to have a loose interpretation of the rules. They occasionally call plays before they happen. So how would you deal with this? Nothing drastic just looking for some help.
