Looks like Kavanaugh has a pretty good team. Can anyone beat them this year?

The School is going to give them a run. They can hide in the other division for now, but eventually we'll meet.

Those Unionville Arms look pretty good when they've got all their guys show up. Maybe not a winner, but a contender. They gave us a good run.

Well, the July 13th showdown game between Kavanaugh and The School has come and gone. Kavanaugh was a winner, but only by the slimmest of margins.

After winning their first five in row, The School has now lost 6 of their last 9 games. Will they be able to get back their early season form, or are teams like Grocer, Remax, Bisons, or Plumbers going to finish atop the Gayman Division?

With Nick on the mound and his coaching prowess at 3rd base you cant count the School out. At this level its all about coaching 3rd ask his teammates.

Very Subjective All-Star team however the only real possible ommision is your choice of pitcher. Nick from School definitley needs to be recognized. He pitches, Coaches 3rd base and promotes sportamanship for all involved. To me this should be recoginzed. Cudos to Nick.

Here's my prediction for 2005. There are only 3 teams to beat in this league. The rest unfortunately, will have to wait another year.

1. Kav - Too much depth in the batting order. If you beat them, go out and buy a lottery ticket after the game, because your luck won't get any better. You can score 15 runs, but they're going to score 25.

2. Remax - Smart team, with alot of Class! These guys know how to win, and they have the Championships to prove it. They are a better team then last year, so watch out!

3. Sports - They have a solid team, but always come up short in the playoffs. This may be their year where they turn it around. They have the talent to pull it off. They just need that break that wins you a critical game.

The rest unfortunately, will have to wait another year, and hope for a strong draft next year.

Look on the bright side; there is always the beer tent, and the joy of heckling the other teams on Sunday afternoon.

Hey Bojack(scott-crupi) you forgot about the plumbers in your top 3 teams. And Wawa, I could make up 10 teams from the league who would crush your All-Star team, nothing against the guys who are on your list.

Here's the secret on how to beat Kavanagh. Play a Rover against most of their guys. They only have 3 guys who can hit the ball to any field. Brian (leadoff), Fraser, and Dave K. Pull the whole team over to the batters field and they will be shaking in their shoes. Don't get Chris G mad, he almost looks like he can play when he's mad!!!

Good Luck Crupi - I hope you make the top bracket, I would love to hear Kent's pep talk if we meet in the playoffs!!

Here's my predictions again. Last year I had the top 3 teams, Just missed who won.

Top 3 teams in no order
Plumbers
Kavanagh
School

Watch out for the Arm's, they might upset somebody.

Good Luck to all.

I can't believe what I am reading.....

I do not play for any of the teams mentioned but here is what I do know...

There are approximately 72 starting outfielders in the league (18 teams X 4) and Mike Whalen isn't in the top 50...- he doesn't dive, he plays way too shallow and his swing is absolutely god aweful.....

Secondly, his brother should take CPR because all he does is choke when it matters...yes he has power, but 3 out of 4 times he hits a lazy pop-up to right field when it matters...

I watched both the Whelan Wonder Twins play with Crupi in the finals and both times the twins disappointed me - anyone who knows baseball would agree with me.

Crupi yes has a few loudmouths, but are hurting in the right side of their outfield...

Plumbers don't deserve to be on BoJack's list because they don't know how to win...maybe in a few years but not this one....guys are jumping for joy now - but lets see when its tied in the 6th and Brett is up with 2 outs....just bring your rightfielder in about 4 steps and he should be in perfect position to catch the can of corn...

Out.

Tool, why the need to get personal? What have the Whalens done against you, unless of course you are an upset player who feels cheated by the Plumbers new found success? A coincidence that two players changed teams, and so did the teams' fortunes? Perhaps not. Maybe Mike should be moved up to #49 on your list!

Now that's out of the way, I guess I better make some predictions on the team to beat:

1. Bojack has some good points, Kavanagh will be tough to beat, but they are not invincible. They did lose to Kelseys! I wouldn't be surprised if they lost to Remax last night. They'll make the semis and will lose to one of the two teams below.

2. Remax. Any team that has as good an infield as remax has a chance to win it all. They've also provem time and time again that they know how to win.

3. Flakeboard. Unlike the last three years, they won't be out of the tournament when they lose their first playoff game this year, and they'll hit their stride just in time for the finals. My money is here.

Conny Champ will be Crupi - if they manage to get all their "Tools" working at the same time!

Wow, This is getting very personal now. In no way did I mean that I would be on anybody's All's Star team, I wouldn't put myself on it. In this league knowledge of the game and how it should be played is almost as important as your talent. That is one thing I feel I have.

Your right about the last 2 years final games. I chocked. Against Remax I was 1-3 (Surprisingly I was 17-17 before that game) and Kavanaugh I was 2-4. Funny enough, the best average on Crupi for the last 2 years of final games was Llyod Kwan(backcatcher) who was 5-7.

No hard feelings, everybody is entitled to their own opinions.

PS. We know the plumbers aren't in first place because of us. The other 13 guys can play this game. They just beat the School,Grocers and Sports while we were on vacation. All it takes is a little confidence.

Lets get serious here. I'm a rookie and its very evident that any team can be beat. No team is undefeated which means that we all have weaknesses. It will depend on who can 'Bring It' on that particular night. Actually, the league should be tracking errors because in most games, the rampant errors often decide the close games.

I've been told that players seem to come out of the woodwork for the playoffs. Teams that consistantly have 11 or 12 players will usually swell to 15 for the tourny. This can be a deciding factor and could have a negative impact to their respective teams.

It looks like Kavanagh is the team to beat, however Flakeboard has beat them already and are finishing strong.

My Appologies to Wawa, I sounded pretty harsh to his All Star Team. The truth is I don't know half of them. Their probably the one's who burn me when "I play too Shallow".

Anyways, here's my 1st and 2nd All Star team

Team 1
1st Steve W. (Griffiths)
2nd Shawn D. (Arms)
SS Fraser (Kavanagh)
3rd Bruce M (Plumbers)
Pitcher - Brett W (Plumbers)
OF - Jesse D (Blacksmith)
OF - Adam L (Sports)
OF - Brian C (Kavanagh)
OF - Craig L (School)
Utility - Johnny Vu(Flakeboard)

2nd Team
1St - Lindsey K (Grocers)
2nd/SS - Jeff G (Kelseys)
2nd/SS - Jamie B (Remax)
3rd - Mike S. (School)
Pitcher - Dave K (Kavanagh)
OF - Chris L (Sports)
OF - Dave H (Remax)
OF - Spider? (Flakeboard)
OF - Chris M (Remax)
Utility - Shawn H (School)

We should make a little round robin tourney sometime in the year of 5 or 6 "All Star" teams. Don't worry "Tool" (Kent Taylor) I'll watch from the bench!!

Kavanagh is about 50-5 the past 2 years. This year, their runs for vs. runs against ratio is about 2.5:1. The next closest is Remax, Bisons & Justin at about 1.3:1. There is Kav and then everyone else. True, Kav has been beating up on the 'weaker' division, but they have pounded a few of the teams in the 'better' division as well. Looking at their numbers, they have room to spare, whether its scoring a little less or giving up a few more runs per game. Especially in a round robin where they're going to play the 3, 5, 7, 9 seeds you have to figure they win 3 for sure and get to the semis. Then for them to lose in a 1 game semi or final, at least half their bats have to go cold, and I don't see that happening. Maybe if its cold, crappy weather on the Sunday some else will have a shot. But who wants to see that happen, because it makes for terrible beer tent conditions.

I am not sure who dastatman is.....but buddy, how long did it take you to find a girlfriend? End of high school? Wow, part time worker at Nerds.com?
Anyways, the team to beat IS Kavanagh. They won last year, they have the #1 offence (and they could have run it up on a number of teams but didn't) AND the best defence with 180 runs against. Factor in that they won last year with exactly the same team and VOILA >>> Repeat!!
They will have to work hard and stay focused but if they play to their potential, its all over people.
Other teams to consider would have to be the School, Remax and the Bisons. Sorry Cupolo.
Good luck boys, ur gonna need it.

You have no idea what you are talking about, this past week we were watching the game between Sports and Jakes and Sports kick their ass 35 -10 they had 19 homeruns (what Dave the umpire told us)5 guys got out with 2 homeruns each number 1 hitter down to number 12 hit homeruns, that big guy, I think is one of the Long brother hit 5 homeruns himself, so you know what we think Sporst is peeking at the right time they need be one of the favorite + they are one of the best social team on this league + by the way Adam Lamarre was not even playing that night go sports gop, I am going to the A draft and ask their team rep to pick me....my team suck so bad....

The old guys from Remax have never looked better. If I was with Sports, the Plumbers and Kavanagh I would start quivering in my sneakers. It is a wonder why these teams espesially Kavanagh who took a heart rending beating from the Bisons, do not take the Remax threat seriously. The School better watch their backs as Remax has them dialed in and are nipping at their heels. I will be cheering drunkenly from the stands with my Tuna fish and Salmon sandwich.

Hey fishies, time to head for some fresh water. The contaminated streams you're swimming in are obviously making you crazy. Don't forget, I think you have a lot of talent on the team (see my all star selections), but Cupolo doesn't stand a chance at winning the whole thing. You're a good regular season team, but you choke when it comes to the big game. I've already named three teams, but I'll add another that will finish ahead (and will beat) Cupolo in the playoffs - that is the Plumbers. We're led by a solid defense, and our bats can match anyones in this league. Not to mention that the Plumbers is the most improved team from last year, and we're currently on a hot streak that is going to end up with Plumbers winning the division and taking 2nd overall. I hope that the game between Plumber and Cupolo ends up being a must win for sports so I can smile as we knock them out of the playoffs after all your talk about winning!!Amendment to my top 3 picks: plumbers, kavanaugh, and flakeboard.

No disrespect to Grocer but I would like to see a Plumbers, Crupi playoff game, that might have some good entertainment value. So get busy Jackboy and beat the School tonight.

Hey Houghts it's a nice try but Remax isn't flying under the radar, they are just as capable as anyone to win it all. Speaking of Remax cudos to Tommy for the scheduling, there's lots up for grabs tonight and it's basically the last day.

I have to agree with the Sport fishing bros., Cupolo will definitely be a tough team to deal with in the playoffs. I would say right now they are the best hitting team in the league. What's the old saying, "if you knock at the door long enough................". They are due.

Congrats to the Plumbers, it's not often you see a team literally go from worst to first in one season. I just hope the "Toolman" hasn't put the Whalen boys in too much of a lather.

There's way too many good players to have an allstar team but let's try something else.
League MVP - The Whalen Bros. (Plumbers)
Playoff MVP - ?
Rookie of the Year - Darren Birta (Grocer)
Manager of the Year - Norm Lacroix (Sports)
Comeback Player of the Year - Bruce M. (Plumbers)
Most Improved Player - Chris Mayberry (Remax)

As far as predictions go, now that the double knockout is done whoever makes it to Sunday has a very good chance to run the table and win it all. I agree with Mike WHALEn though, watch out for the Arms they are my sleeper team.

Good luck to everyone it should be a lot of fun.

Can someone from the executive explain the tiebraker rules we will be using in the playoffs. For example, if Remax, Sports, and the Plumbers all lose 1 game who gets the top seed? I will assume it should be head-to-head, but that doesn't solve a 3-way tie, is it run differential next, because if it is, the home teams will have to finish there at bats tonight and run up the score. An answer by tonight would be appreciated.

PS. Here's to nobody needing work done on their house on Sunday because the Plumbers and the Roofers will be busy playing baseball! With a slight chance of 12 Bisons grazing on Crosby at 4:30!

What of the Plumbers? Will their team spirit be enough? Do I detect dissention in the ranks?
