Classic Pitcher Duel at the Beach
Tonight was a classic pitchers duel at Bayley Beach. Cooper Grillo was on the hill for Bonaddio throwing 4+ innings, striking out 11 and only giving up 2 runs. Peter Meyerson kept Rowayton Market in the game throwing 5+ innings, striking out 13 and giving up 4 runs.
Hits were very scarce throughout with only 7 combined hits for the two teams. Trevor McGee got Bonaddio out ahead with two RBI doubles and 2-0 lead going into the bottom of the 5th. With two men on, Michael Sharkany tied it up for The Market with a 2 RBI single. With the game tied in the Top of the 6th, Cooper Grillo hit a towering 2 run HR that put Bonaddio ahead 4-2. After Meyerson hit his pitch limit, Grant Sattler came in and struck out the one batter faced.
In the bottom of the 6th, William Schadt and Peter Meyerson walked to put the tying runs on base before Henry Tiernan hit a 2-2 fastball into the left field gap scoring both runners. With an errant throw that went into the dugout, Henry was awarded home, and the Market ended up winning 5-4.
